From what I understand, the petrol shortage in the UK is due to not having enough truck drivers to deliver the fuel to the petrol stations. It's not a supply problem, but a labor shortage.

People no longer want to work demeaning jobs. Crap hours and pay, messy management coupled with stressful targets and mistreatment has put people off. When COVID hit people realised there’s no such thing as job security and theirs no point working hard when you’re the rabbit that’ll never catch up to the carrot in terms of a better quality of life.

China lifted about 800 million Chinese from abject poverty. In addition in being the world’s manufacturer of inexpensive goods-it allowed poor people around the world to live in dignity to be able to buy goods like clothing and electronics

Just pray you never have to deal with their electronic engineers--for some reason they absolutely refuse to do what you ask of them. We constantly have battles with them about doing what they are supposed to do at multiple companies. Our higher-ups have started farming a lot of our work out to other countries specifically for this reason.

@Sweet or Dulce Sunshine Yes, cuz Apple is notoriously right wing... Last I checked, Biden and family are the ones avoiding just criticism of and doing major personal business deals with China and Trump is the one whining CONSTANTLY about "Chyn-na" putting American companies out of business and promoting tariffs against Chinese imports, etc. It's not a left or right issue, it's elitism, corruption and greed on both sides. (I'm not even pro-Trump btw.)
@hzhang1228
@hzhang1228 3 жыл бұрын
@Sweet or Dulce Sunshine you pay for what you get. anyone can make a bad quality product, China just makes the same quality at a cheaper price. if another nation is making better quality product at every price level there would be zero incentive to move to China. that is probably the most basic logic there is. as for slave labor, the irony in that statement is thick, i guess the term slave is used very loose in the 21st century snowflake era. on the one hand they say China manipulate their currency, on the other they say China pays their workers very little. pick a side, either they don't manipulate their currency and pays little or they do manipulate their currency and the workers are being paid decent. the video explained perfectly and ppl who just watched it still just go "cheap labor wins every time!" it's like ideology took up all the space for retaining new information.

@You dropped Your L of course systematic racism exist, there are affirmative action that literally gives certain minorities a bonus not based on social economic status but on race, same with hiring quotas. just take a stat count yourself on ads run, how many actors are minority, do they reflect the actual population percentages of US. meritocracy died a long time ago. they literally attack schools, a institution of academia on accepting students based on academic performance. and it's not even because they are looking out for minorities since Asians get the short end of the stick each time.

There are many other countries that would gladly take over manufacturing from China.
@wewenang5167
@wewenang5167 3 жыл бұрын
Yeh the problem is china doesn't have a political instability like other democratic country does especially like in America. China managed to control its population and the people will do whatever the government want them to do without any question, so other country like US may be would take over the manufacturing but they won't be able to do it very fast and cheap like in china, especially with a very divided political faction like in the US or UK, the Rep and Dem will play a tug of war in the senate for decades before they able to do anything productive. :P
@hardtackbeans9790
@hardtackbeans9790 3 жыл бұрын
@@wewenang5167 The US & UK are to expensive to manufacture now. You would be looking at Mexico, Serbia, Philippines, etc, etc, some place with reasonably priced labor. Most of which (not all) would be more expensive to produce goods than China. Political stability will have no bearing on it. I'm sure there is movement now to help some countries develop that vary capability. Then if China stops saber rattling, stealing intellectual rights and other egregious actions. They may be able to retain some smaller share of manufacturing.

It's mind-boggling how countries are willing to outsource things like pharmaceuticals and tech to a country with an autocratic, communist government. I can get behind two democratic, relatively-ethical governments (like Canada and New Zealand, for example) doing business together, but to invest so much in a country that doesn't respect human rights, the environment, intellectual property, and freedom of expression is just strange to me. I get that it's all business and it's a byproduct of capitalism, but governments should have the common sense to invest more in their own country's means of production, and limit the amount of economic support they give to governments with archaic and autocratic values.
@jzvr5842
@jzvr5842 3 жыл бұрын
Lol ethical as in ethnic cleansing, engaging in political kidnapping as a lapdog, and bombing the Middle East for oil along with the number one terrorist nation in the world? China is a million times more ethical than Canada will ever be. The fact you think China is Communist shows you don't know the first thing about the country and don't even know the definition of the word. China in reality is much more free and has a much better human rights record than Canada or New Zealand.
