Taking $5 over $10 seems counterintuitive, but this behaviour is core to Chinese culture, and it all started with a pear.

This is a shorter video but I still feel like there was so much information to go through?? This might also be the shortest list of sources I've ever put lol:
Sources referenced (bringing my thoughts back because I have the character count this time)
Zheng, Y., Shen, S.-C., Xu, M., Rao, L.-L. and Li, S. (2019). Worth-based choice: giving an offered smaller pear an even greater fictional value. 13, pp.e10-e10. doi:doi.org/10.1017/prp.2019.4.
I actually love this paper so much!! I felt like the experiments here were really well designed (although that pear graph honestly made me think that I might not be a visual learner....)
Something I thought about whilst reading this paper was on how yielding manifests itself in China vs the West, especially in terms of ABC's / anyone of asian heritage growing up in a western society.
Because western societies are more individualistic, I wonder if being raised to 'give way' affects asian kids in the west as they navigate their relationships in a culture with norms different from their heritage. I was thinking about this angle quite a bit, but I didn't know how to include it in this video, or what I would cover there. So I would love to hear any experiences or thoughts you guys have on this because it's been on my mind ever since this video!
Also this video wasn't even meant to be on yielding but I got sidetracked by this paper and ended up dedicating a whole vid to it lool, I hope you guys enjoy! As always, thanks for watching :))
