Omg, I really love their accent speaking English, I want to be fluent too in speaking it. So I am taking AB English, I think it suits me well because I really love English since then and I want to nurture my knowledge about it. I sucks in grammar so I wish to learn and improve.

hello! i'm an upcoming college student and ever since i was a kid i've always dreamt of being an accountant but now that i have the capacity to think things over, i realized how i was never made to deal with numbers. i love reading and i think it's something that i really look forward to. i love sharing my opinions and i love to speak in front of an audience. i told my parents about it and maybe because i've always told them that I wanted to be an accountant that now, they don't think it would be a better idea to change my plans to something that, for them, is a major with no future. i'm really torn between choosing a more practical major over something that i really love. i am kind of looking for advice regarding my situation from someone who knows about literature and english better than me. do you have any advice for me po? thank you so much!

Hello zoe! It is better to choose a career you love because in the end, it is you who can reap all those hardwork. If you do not love what you are doing, you will end up career shifting in the future and it is harder for you to work things out because you easily get tired of it. You follow your dreams and goals because your future depends on it. Keep fighting! Be the best! :D

Hello po mag comment po ako dahil ang ganda po ng mga advice nyu sa kanila hihi and I kinda also need one. I'm an incoming freshmen this s.y and I really like to major in this course because there's so many job opportunities here and abroad. I want to be a teacher in japan that's why I want to pursue this course in college. Now I am even more interested in this course and , but I am not good in english communication huhu dun lang po talaga ako sa writing skills more focused. Natural po ako minsan and hindi ko po maipahiwatig ang gusto kong sabihin pero lapag naman sa pagsususlat nakakaya ko namang po. I need a piece of advice po galing sa inyu^_^

Hello Reshieru! That’s interesting! Don’t be frustrated. There could be a purpose why Writing is your forte. Focus on your strength. To improve speaking in English, you may look in the mirror and speak whatever comes into your mind. Sounds crazy but I know it helps. Make it a habit and one day you will see how your words flow from your thoughts. Remember our brain and tongue are muscles, when both are not used or exercised, it stiffens. Hope it helps you to drive more of your motivation! I know you can do it and overcome every fear of it because you are already great. The ability is already within you but hidden. Allow it to shine through :D

Hello there!Currently, I'm a freshman college student pursuing social work course, but now planning to shift my course to any english major.tbh pinili ko na lang din itong social work course nato kasi my mother told me na maganda at kapag pipili daw ng course is yung may board exam na. Also ito lang din ang pagpipilian ko between teacher. I just decided to choose this social work course knowing that it will also help me improve my English writing and public speaking skills, ayaw ko din naman ng educ nung time na yun kasi parang ang common niya which now I realized na maling conception, kasi magandang course din to. Kung meron lang sana na BSED English dito yun na lang pinili ko, ang available lang din kasi po dito is yung BA English, well that time hindi ko padin alam yung course na yun at kung pipiliin ko man tong course na to baka hindi lang din ako papayagan kasi wala siyang board exam. So here is my concern po Yes may side siya na nag-susulat din kami at may pareporting pero di naman madalas at what I don't like din is yung mismong Major sub ko sa SW. Hindi ko siya neenjoy. Hindi ko naman po sinasabi na ganun ako kahusay sa skills na to but gustong gustong ko po siyang matutunan at maimprove ko pa yung English writing and speaking skills ko. I want to be like ate Joyce Pring and Ate Ayn Bernos and some other great speakers and writers I followed online. All your responses will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!💞

Hello Lorie! I am glad for you reaching out through this video. There is nothing wrong with your current course. However, the most important thing is that you enjoy and love what you are taking because that will determine your career in the future. If you don't love what you are taking, I suggest that you take the risk to shift to the course you really like. Follow what's in your heart and you decide. In my own perspective, if you really like to be great in speaking English, take BA English. If you like Teaching the most, take BSED English. A course that has a board exam will not determine how good you are. It is actually a painful truth that some of the licensed professionals today are not employed. That is because other jobs don't find them enough. If you don't find social work enjoyable, then shift. The decision should come from you and don't do it because of other people's choices. It is not too late. 😀

Hello Gemalyn! That is normal sa mga freshmen. You have a lot of adjustments and fears when you take any course first time. A piece of advise for students like you: You don’t study because you already know, you study because you need knowledge. English is everywhere lalo na ngayong panahon na ito. Marami ka ring magiging work sa major na pinasukan mo dahil wide yung scope nya. Wag matakot :) You are doing great. Step by step you gotta see yourself improving. Fighting!

If communication, it is either you know written English or Spoken English. If you are very good at both, better have the language studies :) if you love reading stories and sharing of ideas about stories, then have literature studies. You may also choose both if you think both of them are your strength. :)

nagkamali ako sa online application, no shifting policy sa university na pinag-aaralan ko now. I love language so much. I'm currently learning several languages at once because I'm planning to work overseas. Can I still be a linguist even though I didn't major in English? I'm currently taking BSED major in Social Studeis. Thanks!
@BasicologyWithMe

Professionally speaking, you can’t be a linguist if you did not have an in depth study of the language. Linguists are for language majors. Your major is not aligned to be a linguist. If there is no shifting policy and you still want to be a linguist, might as well go to another prestigious school. Taking up a course you really love would help you endure every hardships along the way. This is just my personal suggestion but it is still up to you what journey to take.

I will not say it is the best pre law course but what I am sure about is that AB English can help you gain immediate benefits in terms of communication especially in writing persuasive documents, oral defense and advanced reading comprehension. Lawyers are required to have such reading and writing skills. Don’t worry because English is a very popular, one of the top and mostly selected major as a pre law course. :D

If you want to speak english well, you really need a mentor to teach you but if you want to involve yourself even more about English, these courses sa video can really help. For English tips: 1. Read English books 2. Watch English movies 3. Imitate their pronunciation. 4. Look for a dictionary to know the meaning of the difficult words. 5. Talk to yourself in the mirror even you look or sound crazy but it really helps. 6. Practice answering in English any questions asked to you. 7. Just enjoy and learn from mistakes.

To take up two majors depend on what school you belong because not all school accepts two majors at the same time but it is still possible to take two majors you love. Psychology and English are related since studying English needs more analysis and Psychology deals with human behavior in which analysis is also needed. But if you really need to choose one, I would suggest to take up Psychology because it still uses proper scientific terms of English language. This is just my opinion based on what I know about the two degree majors.

Don't worry too much about how to start. Just read one book at a time. Classical literature, novels, William Shakespeare's poetry and English grammar rules. Whichever book you feel like reading. The BSED-English course focuses more on Professional Teaching. Most probably the teachers will recommend books to purchase for you to study. So just chill and relax. Everything's going to be alright. ❤️👍😀

@BasicologyWithMe

Yes they have similar job opportunities but AB English can’t immediately teach in public and private schools. They have to take up complete teaching units and that would require them to take up a masters degree to be qualified teaching in a university. BSED English focuses on teaching but still you can have the jobs of an AB English majors.

Good day! If we are talking about literature books, maganda talaga yung mga Fiction genres dahil mas napapalawak yung vocabularies mo and imagination. For example, harry potter books, percy jackson, twilight, etc. But if we talk about romance books, maganda mga books ni Nicholas sparks like The Notebook and Message in a Bottle, etc. If nag ienglish major ka sa college, you have to venture to classical books dahil yun ang mga focused literature to study. Happy Reading! :)

Hello po. I am an incoming grade 12 student this s.y and I am sure about taking an English related course in college po since I really like English ever since I was a kid. When I was in JHS I told my parents I want to be an English teacher. During that time po kasi, teaching is the only job I know that is in lined with English so they are expecting me to take BSED Eng and they're very supportive about it but as i grew up and learned more about professions, I realized na I still want to be a teacher but I don't want it for a long run anymore. I want to be able to take other english related jobs na po aside from teaching.
