I started playing cloud cause somehow i found him pretty interesting, when I didn't even have the game, but the time has passed and i still maining cloud and i have no regrets, one of the most agile characters of the game, fin to play, pretty hype, well design for competitive... What can I say, the best character of the game by far

As someone who picked up Cloud as my first main back in 2019 when he was considered mid tier, I find it hilarious that so many people have changed their tune on him and is now more or less top tier.

To be fair, Cloud was buffed multiple times, and especially in 7.0.0. but yeah it's funny how long after that it took people to catch on.

I mean cloud did get significant buffs in patch 7.0 that made him what he is today. His dash attack got a knock back buff allowing it to kill much easier (around 140%). His upsmash got faster and it's sweet spot got a knock back buff making easier to use and kill with. The first hit of his fsmash was given less knocback so that it could lead into the final hit more reliably. His limit charge got faster allowing him to charge limit in 335 frames instead of 400 allowing him to access his better stats and limit moves easier. Finally the most important buff was his up B was changed so that you could snap to ledge on frame 24 instead of frame 28 making him harder to gimp. So it's not like 2019 cloud was secretly a top tier, he got buffs along the way to make him as good as he is now.

This is mostly due to how the meta develops. People's perspective on the game change as does their skill. People have more polished gameplay in terms of gameplan, MU knowledge and so forth. Cloud was one of the few characters that were subject to getting cheesed due to his weaknesses, and his risk reward wasn't crazy enough if all it took was just a couple of neutral wins. He is just fundamentally solid across so many categories and even has a slight cheese factor. Disregarding that, you basically always need to be just as good or better than your opponent when piloting this character to win, he is not that easy to play in that regard since one mistake can kill you at even low %.

I'd say most of FP2, I wouldn't use cloud against min min and people who know how to edgeguard as the aegis

Because his range, air mobility and frame data make him so brain dead that anyone who knows the basics can have big results with minimal effort. Plus his back air can't be punished which is really flawed. Limit works like a final smash so... Why... at least make him to work for it, restrain it after certain amount of time after he uses it.
