The Amazon card must do well for Chase. They keep renewing the contract.

If WF could get Hyatt on their cards' transfer partners, or one of the major domestic US airlines, they'd probably get some crossover business on their Autograph cards. The problem is that they need to actually put in the work to bring better partners on board like Bilt itself did.

So why charge late fees when they are already getting interests money? Sounds like double dipping to me.

Yet Synchrony and Commenity have no issues in this space. Granted, I think the kick back from the brands are far less with them. Plus deals like the Target and Lowes card where it looks like the bank doesn't supply the rewards at all. The retailer provides a discount. Or the rewards are issued within the retailer's rewards program, and are not always used like the Old Navy card.

Best Buy, Walgreens etc issue rewards within the retailers program, but still gives good overall value. I think Lowe's/Target is a discount.

I find it quite funny that Wells Fargo was acting in this predatory way hoping that people would mess up and keep balances for their rent only for it blow up spectacularly in their faces. Those scumbags certainly deserve it
@Slaize22 күн бұрын
WF underwriting is a bit too strict for that goal too I think. I've seen a lot of Bilt card denials. Bilt offering "Bilt Protect" where it basically never goes on your card balance at all also seems to contradict the issuer's goal.

Ben, I don't think BOA has any transfer partners either? Or am I missing something?

True. Even weirder, as they issue the Alaska Airlines card. That’s a great transfer partner right there.

Why would there be merchant fees when they avoid the swipe? They're using a pseudo bank account

There is going to be some cost for ACH transfers, but they are also on the hook for whatever percentage of users have to use the paper check option and I have to think postage alone makes that 10x a normal card transaction

I disagree on late fees. It's like overdraft fees, I CAN avoid it, but I don't like that it's there. It's like a nail sticking out of the wall, you can avoid it all your life, but you shouldn't have to think of it. I'd lower rewards for better terms. that's just the scummiest part of credit cards. being late on a payment is already penalized by hits to your credit. I never use a bank with over drafting fees, I refuse on principal.
