I believe confession to a priest is one of the greatest treasures of the Catholic Church. I have experienced some wonderful confessions that I came out feeling like a new man. Got rid of some heavy mental weight I was carrying, felt peace, tranquility and happiness. When I hear the words that I am absolved of my sins, I want to shout with joy. This is really great...No problem here in confessing my sins to a priest.

How do we know if we are forgiven? The Bible says in Ephesians 1:7, 1 John 1:9, Colossians 3:13 that God forgives without needing to go to a priest. The Bible never says a priest is in charge of forgiving sins nor does Church history support it. The Catholic Church did not begin using priests for confession until the 3rd century. And then monks began hearing confessions in Ireland in the 6th century. So this notion that only priests can give absolution is an invention by the church during the middle ages.

My dear, you are right about those listed scriptures. But first I wouldn't say its a Church invention. And secondly, I wouldn't dismiss that the Holy Spirit can't work through priests so as to as well reconcile sinners to God. Who says they can't? Regards 🙏🏽

Amen, if I may add "Which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?" Luke 5:23 when the Jews cried out. I think non Catholics doubt our Lord's power, and this is why they can't truly believe he would give to men His body in the Eucharist or give the Priest the ability to forgive. Does it say in the Bible after his Apostles die those who follow them loose this ability? In their minds why would a all powerful God do this? Perhaps it is the same flaw that clouded the minds of the Jews, why would a all powerful God come down just to die? when he could crush those who are against him. They limited God to the pages to the written word. When the word became Flesh to teach and correct the rejected His words. Does our Lord's Power diminish if he lets men hear sins? The error is Pride. Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. Matt 11.29 The first one that would not serve or follow our God was cast out because he would not serve or follow a Woman God chose to be His Mother. The Blessed Virgin Mary. Our Lady is another stumbling block for them, perhaps the don't think our Lord powerful enough to make His Mother Sinless, because it is not written, or perhaps they feel it takes away from God. What does God have to fear? Who can take any glory away from God? The creator of All things. The same flaw that clouded the minds of the Jews now clouds their minds, It is not written so it Cannot be so! Why do they limit the Power of God to their minds or the Bible? Can the Bible contain all of God? I guess the Jews had the same feeling. Where does it say in the Bible that it contains everything about Him? My God goes beyond all the human minds or the pages of the Bible. I will pray for my brothers in Christ. Long live Christ the King.

Even if you don’t confess the sins when one partakes in the communion is judged. 1 Corinthians 11: 30That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. 32Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world.

You got everything right except for one... the atonement that we bring is not ourselves,..or our sinfulness. It is the lamb of God Himself in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The power if the priest to forgive sins comes by his priestly ordination thru the blood which he drinks... at Mass. So then if the reality of the sacrifice is removed, in the Novus Ordo mass of Paul VI... then th same sacramental forgiveness which Catholics indulge in, is doubtful. Recieve the sacrament of confession thru a Traditional Catholic priest.

No we don't have to go to a man In a box he was right. We don't. Our sins are forgiven when we confess to God. He is right. The man that said we wash in blood. You the man in the video is wrong

The Lord’s Prayer says “Our Father ......forgive us our sins as WE forgive those who sin against us.” Jesus is our anointed high priest who made atonement for our sins on the cross and in His resurrection. The Lord’s prayer is in relation to the gospel of John when Jesus said to forgive each other as our Father forgives us thru Jesus’ saving blood sacrifice and resurrection.

Scot Null, That man who is speaking, has one rule for the Catholics and one rule for Christians, As he said you cannot be a one scripture wonder, Yet he only used ONE scripture to back up his erroneous doctrines teaching on confessing to a priest.Jn 20: 23, And in Jn 20: 3, Jesus meant that ever Christian can tell a repented person that their sins are forgiven, And please note, Jesus was speaking to ALL His disciples, NOT just the Apostles.Lk 24: 47 says it's when a person repents that their sins are forgiven, NOT when a man remits peoples sins.Then he misquoted Jesus forgiving sins, by saying Man can forgive sins. Maybe he didn't know that Jesus was God and had the God given authority to forgive sins, God and God ALONE can remit sins.Then he went into the old Testament to justify a priest forgiving sins, he doesn't know we are a NEW Testament Church, and nowhere in the New Testament does it say men can remit sins. As he said, You CANNOT be a one verse wonder, But he only used one verse to back up his erroneous doctrine. Jn 20: 23He obviously hasn't e read 1 Jn 1 9. And that all we need to do for the remittance of sins.There are no priest in the New Testament Church, see Eph 4: 11, and tell me where the priest is, NOWHERE.I know what he taught is a Catholic belief, And it just goes to show how wrong and unscriptural the Catholic church and there doctrines are.

"And if he sin against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day be converted unto thee, saying, I repent; forgive him. " "Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained. " You contradict both of these; guess who HE was speaking to....the Priesthood. You really should go read up on the issue on Catholic answers. you are blind and reject the only authority that can interpret what you pretend to understand.
@dr.alanhales5447 жыл бұрын
Valarious V, Their is no priesthood in the Biblical New Testament Church, accept every born again Christian is a priest unto God.And there certainly is no Catholic type of priest in the Bible.Catholics, and there pope's & priests are just a man made office that has no God given authority.God has never given the authority to remit sins to any man, Even to His Church, [The born again believers], Never mind the man made Catholic priests.What Jesus meant in Jn 20: 23, is, ANY Christian can tell a repented person that their sins have been remitted, In Lk 24: 47, Jesus said it's when a person repents that their sins are forgiven, NOT when a man remits them.You shouldn't take any notice of Catholic answers, as Catholics tell lies,Here are some of their lies.Mary, ever sinless.Another lie, Mary ever virgin.Another lie, Mary bodily assumption to heaven.Another lie, Mary co- mediator.Another lie, Mary co-redeemer.Another lie, Purgatory. Another lie, Confessing sins to a priest.Another lie, Penance. Another lies, Regeneration through infant baptism. Need I go on??.And all those lies stems from the biggest lie, and that is the RCC say they can build any doctrine that they want to, and it has just as much authority as the Bible.Why do you think they come against sola scriptura??.
@edwinmalachy7 жыл бұрын
Dr. Alan Hales you're lying. and did not listen to the whole tape. . He is a deacon not a priest. he quoted old testament references in his support of priestly authority regards sins and atonement. John the Baptist had them baptizing and confessing their sins. .. James said "confess your sins"..
@1234poppycat7 жыл бұрын
Alan In addition to what Malachy Smith said 1/// Your list of Catholic lies are not scriptural but your own opinion!! Most of which is clearly contrary to scripture (6 passages that point to the need for a period of purgation .... Mary was ever virgin Jesus brothers in the bible were his cousins as their is no single word in Aramaic for Cousins & it would have been a grave insult to Jesus's "brothers & sisters " if he had them when on the cross Jesus said to his mother that the disciple would be her son & would look after her !! etc 2/// The Catholic Church has the authority (I know this is hard for protestants) as Jesus said to Peter the disciples and their successors ..."Whatever you bind on earth will be considered bound in heaven ...." 3/// Now when it comes to "man made " it is you who is supporting man made churches !! or DIY Christianity
@edwinmalachy7 жыл бұрын
Dr. Alan Hales your comment is ignorant and presumptuous (that's a sin). "Catholics...and... Christians"? My friend Catholics ARE Christians. There are several scripture passages he referenced here. But in case you don't know there were old testament references to confession, as well as John and James both wrote on this and Jesus himself said at Pentecost "who's sins YOU forgive shall be forgiven. Who's sins YOU retain shall be retained".

if i do know it for sure?! this man is a catholic priest? mister catholic, i know for sure in my heart by faith, as by faith i believed first in God's existence, not by scientific discoveries, human vows or funny priests ironies . ask your catholic professor the definition of faith and then show up here and make fun of the believers.
@thatright49857 жыл бұрын
"...as by faith i believed first in God's existence..." No you don't and didn't. You know God exists by reason. You believe Jesus Christ is His Son by faith. You lack proper formation if you don't understand these distinctions. Because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God...Rom 1:19-21 Reason alone enables man to know God exists but as St. Paul tells the Romans, merely KNOWING God exists profits nothing. Man must respond to God's revelation of Himself. We know God has revealed Himself totally in Jesus Christ and we respond to THAT revelation in faith. Without reason, there is no faith, only superstition. Without faith, there is no salvation, common sense.
