I think right now it is a toss up between him and Adams. But Cooper Kupp and Stafford have put on an absolute clinic this year. And we forget how weird it is for players to be so good in their first season together. Brady and Stafford being the exceptions. Can't wait to see how he continues, because I don't know how teams are going to defend this guy!! Comment who you want me to cover next and if you like the film breakdowns like these!

Cooper Kupp is basically a combination of Steve Largent and Jerry Rice. I know you're a little young to know those guys well but check out their careers in depth. Cooper Kupp is basically the evolution of the modern wide receiver from earlier days. Precise route running, instant and proper reading of defenses, intense concentration and amazing hand-eye coordination, superior balance enabled by excellent overall body strength (especially core strength), controlled changes of speed (just as important, if not more so, then raw speed and quickness) and maniacal work ethic both on and off the field. His speed and athleticism aren't at the top of NFL wide receivers but it's solidly in the middle and he makes the most of everything he has.
@JEMlivefootball
@JEMlivefootball 2 жыл бұрын
i agree with almost everything besides the athleticism! i think he is very athletic and I like to actually compare him to devante adams! these smaller guys with great releases, very smart and great hands! He has been so so much fun to watch, and like curry, showing people you don't have to be 6'5 and run a 4.3 to be the best receiver!
@CognizantCheddar
@CognizantCheddar 2 жыл бұрын
People shouldn't even be noting his skin color. It's not relevant. You compare via workout scores and body-type. Skin color isn't a score or body type. His blend of athleticism is most comparable to Rice (same 40 time, same height). Or a much taller Antonio Brown (everyone forgets his mediocre workout scores). Nuk Hopkins with shorter arms. Or Devante Adams. Welker and Edelman are comparisons which basically shout racism, because they have _zero_ athletic similarity to Kupp. Largent isn't as egregious, but he's still a bad comparison, being significantly slower and shorter than Kupp.

@@eyesee3516 Megatron had a cheat code as a 6'5" freak with 4.4 40 flat speed, a nearly 40 inch vertical, and hips that were loose despite his TE-esque catch-radius. He barely even needed actual craft to be good. As for Rice, it was Kupp who pooped on all of Rice's FCS records. Kupp holds them all now. 🙃 The comparison to Rice is based on physical dimensions, drill scores, and style of play. Same height, same 40 time, same strengths to their craft. Just like Kupp, Rice won with craft and pre-snap reads. Rice would be a slot receiver in today's NFL, and dominate for the same reasons Kupp does.
@nallen1006

@@eyesee3516 Megatron could never get separation. All that size and speed but all of his catches were contested. He was a terrible route runner. Couldnt read a defense and put himself if bad positions to get blown up constantly. Thats on him, hes given an option and takes the wrong route, then a LB is taking his head off. Thats why hes out of the league early. Jerry Rice was in a different era. No way hes play outside in todays game with that 4.71 speed. And kupp destroyed all of his college records and beat his single season record(with post season) by a shit ton with 1 game still to go lol. But kupp has a long way to go, hopefully him and stafford can roll for a few years.

great video, easily understandable and very knowledgeable, ....I think the argument has been put to rest. Cooper Kupp is definitely the best receiver THIS YEAR. #1 in receptions , yards, and touchdowns....not to mention yac, catches resulting in 1st downs, and a host of other categories! ....and thats just the regular season, he played out of his mind during the entire playoffs and that erased all doubt who was the best receiver , possibly even the best player period this past year. Congratulation to C.Kupp and the rams!

I think the thing that gets overlooked with the OBJ addition was how instrumental Kupp was in helping OBJ learn the offense.. You could see Kupp out there coaching OBJ on where to lineup and schemes.. The point is people talk a lot about Kupps physical tools or lack there of, but I think Kupp does a great job in the film room working on understanding defenses.

I'm super interested in learning the theory in football, like how to read defenses how the offense is supposed to react, like you showed us in the video. Super interesting. Liked. one thing I notice and I noticed it last night in the seahawks game, is that DB's play too far off allowing easy first downs in short yardage, or even on a 3r'd and 8 type play. they just play too far off and seem to just allow the guy to catch it for 6 yards and then run the rest to get the first down as you see here when you talk about how good Kupp is on short yardage plays. look, a short post!

As a life long Seahawks fan(1980-) Steve Largent was my favorite WR’er. There hasn’t been too many white WR’ers that dominated the way Laegent did…Until Cooper Kupp came along❗️He won the “Triple Crown” last player to accomplish this feat was in 2005 Steve Smith Sr & only 4 players have done this in NFL History, know it’s 5 after KUPP’S amazing 2021 season. He also won offensive player of the year & was the Super Bowl MVP! No WR’er has ever won OPOY, Triple Crown & Super Bowl MVP other than COOPER KUPP…Jerry Rice has done it, however it took him multiple years to accomplish. Yet I still think he doesn’t get enough media support for being the type of player he is! Is it because he’s a White Wide Receiver? Same thing with CMAC (Christian McCaffrey) doesn’t get enough respect because he’s a White RB & he’s dominating at a position that’s 99% Black. McCaffrey even said in College he didn’t get enough respect because he’s a WHITE RUNNING BACK, period! #ReverseRacism # DoubleStandards

You guys are reaching when it is obvious that he is not running any special routes he's just wide open because nobody is giving him the attention that you guys think they are. Notice his head movement on half of these plays that you were talking about him noticing the defense and all these things when he obviously doesn't even look he's just running for open ground but he's being highly targeted and if he's ever opened he's going to receive the ball. But teams will allow the underneath route because it is a check down but he benefits from checkdowns 10 times a game where he's allowed to get 10 yards plus whatever he can get afterwards

poor robert woods, complaining he doesn't get enough throws. He gets enough. Kupp reminds me a little of the old Oakland Raiders Fred Belitnikoff who had hands like glue. he caught just about everything thrown in his direction and was quick. I have a friend how I texted the day before the lions game. I said "Pick of the week, Loins +16" I knew they would play the rams tough and they sure did. very tight game really but as usual the rams scored when they had to, then of course even though Goff played pretty well all game long, he had those critical turnovers. I just hope that Kupp can stay healthy for the entire season. and it is a LONG season. I hate the 17 games. I think 16 is too many really. plus I hate the new playoff format where only 1 team in each conference gets a bye. you could have a 15-2 record, win your division, yet have to play a wild card game and be 3 playoff games away still from the super bowl. that sucks. every year the playoff changes seem to hurt the rams. a few years back they would have made it in as a wildcard, but they didn't have the new format until the next year. now, this year they could have that 15-2 record, yet have to play an additional game because Green Bay or Arizona, or Tampa is 16-1. I think the best format was when they had it as your had 4 divisions winners. 3 of the 4 got a bye and sat the first week.the division winner with the worst record,say a 9-7 in a crappy division, had to play a wild card game with the other second best record team, or even when they added another wild card team, still the first 2 teams with the best record got a bye. that was a HUGE thing to get that bye. Not anymore. sadly it's all about more games so more money for everybody. can you imagine how difficult that is? 17 games, then 3 more to get to the super bowl, so a grand total of 21games! how can teams possibly stay healthy over 20 games, or even the 17? it's almost impossible. The rams offense is great, fantastic, they have so many weapons, but, they just traded their best linebacker and now have like only 3 or 4 active ones left, and they arent very good. On defense it's like all they have is Donald, Floyd and the great ramsey. where is darius williams? is he hurt? Also JEMlive, love your stuff what do you think of the whole Manning brothers thing on espn2? I just watched it for the first time last night, and it was just in a word FUN. except for some of the interviews during the game. such as why in the hell have Sue Bird on there for like 20 minutes?? Ok I get it she's seattle,but nobody cares about the WNBA. I just saw a video showing their victory parade with like 5 open buses going down the street and there was not ONE person on the sidewalks who paid the slightest bit of attention to it. they were waving from their buses and nobody around that even hardly looked at them, let alone waved back. just pathetic. Payton was mad that the seahawks kept on running the ball and getting stuffed,so he laid it out for her, saying something like ok why do they keep on running? I would pass more, ok, Sue it's 3r'd down, you make the call,what do you think they should do? and she sits there looking dumbfounded for like 10 seconds without saying a word, then goes "hmm, I .... don't...know... Brilliant sue! But then they had on marshon lynch. or tom brady. great, they were great, but sue bird? why?? I love the way they break everything down although I'm not like you or them who knows all of the terms. Eli "oh, that's a hug 5, that's because they went to the cover 8 and added the 3 over the top safeties in a zoom scheme" it all blows right past me but its incredibly entertaining and a great new way to watch football. never apologize for the long comments!! you always are so insightful, bring up really good points and ask great questions! but to tackle everything i can, but i didn’t know robert woods was complaining! stafford doesn’t play favorites at all, he’s going to find the open person, and depending on the offensive end defensive scheme determines who’s going to pop off! it’ll be his time and i get the frustration with the 17 game season, but the athletes want more money and this is just a part of it, it is very beneficial for them financially but not for their overall health. but when the average stint is 3-4 years, you need to get it when you can. and i LOVE the manning monday nights! you watched probably the worst one by far. they’re struggling getting constant conversation because there’s like a 3 second lag between them and the person. but it’s such a fresh new experience on how to watch a game. watching peyton break fown a defense live is something i only dreamed of seeing one day. and sue bird made no sense, but it was still cool, it’s almost like watching a podcast while you watch the games like when they brought lebron on. the brady interview was AWESOME! and it’ll only get better when they fix the technology bugs but i hope they continue it!

I mean in all three of these cases, they wen't bust literally the year after the huge contract. and none of them have gone on to play well on other teams. now they get rid of one of their few remaining decent linebackers to create cap space? If Moss played with Tom Brady his entire career every receiving record would be so far out of reach it would be crazy to look at what his numbers could have been. Mcvay is using Kupp to get others open and he's using other to get Kupp open. But Kupp is also one of the smartest receivers in the league when it comes to route running. He came back off of a torn ACL and he was better than he was before at route running. He has great hands and he's good in the open field. He gets open, he can catch the ball and he's great in the open field. Why wouldn't he get targeted more often than Woods or Jefferson? Both of them will still come close to 100 catches and 1000 yards in this offense. Kupp is just standing out this year. Everyone knows Cooper is going to be the first target but he's still getting around 7 catches a game and over 100 yards. @@josephbellott9479 Jesus Christ this is the dumbest take I've seen this year. Kupp is one of the best route runners in the league and the only reason why he wouldn't be the top 2 option in Tampa is because they have a ferrari for an offense with Godwin, Evans, Brown, Gronk and Fournette. He wouldn't fit in that scheme with the speed they have and the type of offense they run. Kupp would put up numbers in just about all 30 other teams. He put up 1000 yards and 10 tds with Goff. It's not even about situation. It's about scheme and skill set. Kupp plays in a smart scheme and has a damn good skill set and intelligence. Chase is not the best receiver in the league. It's clearly Kupp, Adams or Hill. They all are top 3 in catches, catches per game, top 5 in yards and touchdowns. And all three are probably the top 3 route runners in the game. Chase is in the top 5 in two of those categories. He's caught less than 65% of his targets and he's only been targeted 60 times. That's pathetic for someone you think is the top receiver in the game. Chase is top 10 but not in the top 3. This is the dumbest take this year and I believe I've gotten dumber having read it. Come on man.

They aren't better than Kupp! I'd take Kupp any day of the week! I see you made this comment a month ago. The superbowl had now been played, has that changed your mind? O'Dell goes down #1and #2 tightends are out. Everyone knew he was getting the ball yet they still couldn't stop him! Who's your number 1 now?

He definitely looked like the best receiver in football last year. I think he needs a few more dominate seasons before he is crowned the best receiver in tbe game. I know he's had health issues but this is only his 2nd 1,000+ yard season.

You're putting too much value in potential over what's actually being accomplished. At the end of the day what matters is productivity. Sure those receivers you named are all probably more athletic than Kupp but how many of them are producing on his level? If they aren't producing as much as he is, are they really better?
@CRAZYHORSE19682003

Funny how Kupp had an explosion in productivity while playing with his first really good QB and you want to discredit him. The 49ers shut down Adams and he was not even a factor in the division round. Kupp absolutely EVISERATED the 49ers...they couldn't stop him. I suspect part of your hate is racially motivated, always looking for excuses when white players excel at positions they are not supposed to play.

@@kingbee1869 ANNNNNND THERE IT IS!!!! Blaming the short comings of one person because of "politics" and skin color. Kupp is far better in intelligence, route running, catching the ball and finding space to run after the catch. He understands the game far better and he can actually catch the ball. The most important job of a receiver that Chase hasn't seem to grasp yet. Kupp tore his ACL and came back better than he was before. So he basically took a year off as well. Chase will be lucky to be on Kupp's level one day. Ignorance at it's finest. Wanna crown a kid so bad but don't wanna look at the tape or the numbers. Kupp is better in every stat.
