Well, Malgus claimed Revan's droid Foundry after the latter had fallen to Malgus' strike team. Malgus had time to study Revan's teachings and salvage his power. And I think he did. While Malgus called Revan a heretic, I think they shared a semi-similar vision. Revan from a jedi POV and Malgus from a sith POV. They even had the same enemy in the form of Vitiate. What do you all think?
@1qplayer62616 күн бұрын
True they both hated vitiate. While malgus actually fought more the dark council directly as he knew he wouldnt stand a Chance against the emperor. Revan did confront the emperor. But yes they both broke free from his Control and made their own Orders ❤

While he was honorable, he also did thrive and enjoy the violence that Sith Juggernauts wrought on others. During the scene where he executes one of Havoc Squad, you see him smile before turning away. He allowed himself small moments to enjoy what he was doing. But quickly tightened it up so it wasn't known that he had some small enjoyment.

Darth Malgus, Darth Bane, Darth Revan, and Darth Sidious are the most pure Sith in terms of the full embodiment of everything a Sith SHOULD be although I think Malgus would not like the way Sidious attained power. They are the perfect avatars of the dark as Luke, Qui Gonn, Revan(redeemed), and Plo Koon were the perfect avatars of the light side. Biggest problem I hear fans make in these discussions whether the topic Jedi or Sith is they never look at how good they embodied their respective teachings. Sidious was a walking nexus of the dark side not because of potential alone but his embodiment of the dark as Luke combined his monster potential with a close bond with the force and was given boundless power. Anakin in all his potential NEVER perfectly embodied either. He was a hot headed arrogant Jedi led by his feelings and though a ruthless machine as Vader he merely suppressed the light he couldn’t get rid of it

The four Sith Lords you mentioned are perfect examples of Sith who truly broke their chains. By that I mean they broke free from the Sith dogma of their time and sought to create something different, something new, in each of their own image. Revan broke free from the Sith Emperor’s control; Malgus saw the Empire had become weak and sought to bring about a new age of glory and conquest, with no chance of peace with their enemies; Bane, like Malgus, saw the weakness of the current Sith institution but he succeeded in destroying it and forging his own Sith Order; and Sidious had no intention of being succeeded by an apprentice and all but abolished the Rule of Two established by Bane, he took what he wanted that would serve him and discarded everything else.

I'm a big fan of Darth Malgus. He's a total badass as he always leads from the front, a warrior through and through. Not to mention, he (like Darth Marr) had a strongly egalitarian streak that didn't view alien species as inherently lesser and the notion that while Pureblooded Sith and Humans are the face of the Dark Side in Star Wars, they aren't the only ones to have strength and that these unique individuals should be welcomed into the Sith Empire. A true meritocracy where everything is earned by discipline, strength and self-mastery where race, status, class divides are irrelevant. What an epic philosophy, Malgus wasn't just conqueror. @@rayruiz5871 Anyone on the council would have been happy for Malgus to have a weakness like that! It would have made him vulnerable! That is why he did it! A Sith also has to eliminate any distractions from his goal! It was him though to acknowledge this weakness and figure out a way to ... deal with it! It was his decision! He could have tried different strategies. But he chose the way of a true Sith. No rival Sith in his right mind would have actively pressured or discouraged him from engaging in such a relationship. Darth Malgus is such an interesting Sith Lord that his own philosophy is far fetched from other Sith Lord that is driven by greed and the lust for power. He has a code of honor and respected others through merits and despises treachery. Just imagine his interactions with Luke Skywalker as the hero of the rebellion seeks knowledge of the past to prevent future tragedies while facing inevitable conflicts. If Luke is born in the Era of the Old Republic, I feel that they would have a mutual respect for each other, both men are willing to question the strictness of their respective orders and emerge stronger because of it. The kind of conversation these two would have. I hope Malgus comes back as a canon character since he is as favorable as Revan.

I would say visionary, there are many examples of personal gains being used to the detriments of greater wholes in both the empire and republic as we saw toward then end of revenge of the Sith, and is a large reason of why I believe the empire was all but snuffed out following the galactic war with the old republic. Interestingly I see a lot of parallels with our own histories, Rome in particular; an empire spanning a thousand years brought to it's knees over the selfishness of shortsighted fools.

So many dark side users fail to control the dark side and are simply consumed by it. Those sith are really just loose cannons and not necessarily the biggest threat. Few can truly conquer the dark and use it to exact their will (breaking their chains). The ones that come to mind are Palps, Revan, Malgus, vitiate, bane. I’m sure there’s a ton more but those are ones that come to mind. Those who truly used the dark for their goals, not just chaos for chaos sake ya know.

Literally none of them truly broke their chains because their destinies were entirely at the mercy of the Force. One o the grand delusions of the Sith is that they believe they can pursue totally freedom from anything when it's just not possible. As Kreia pointed out, none of those individuals would be anything without the Force. All of their grand designs depended entirely on being connected to the Force.

His strength seemed to come from his unhinged anger and psychosis, not true feelings of pain, loss, or suffering.

So he's just lawful evil, or lawful neutral at best, as oppose to the common chaotic evil of the Sith. That's kind of it, funny how such a simple thing is treated as so novel in this universe. Yet, at the same time, it does make sense in the lore. It suits the tools of storytelling that the Sith are. Either from just corruption or being broken by their masters, they are taught to only seek power for its own sake and sink into depravity. Use their hatred of their master, the galaxy, and their circumstances to fuel them. Malgus' philosophy is a simple view of progress and evolution, similar to Darth Bane in a way, though Darth Bane did not have such respect for his foes or a warrior's honor. Malgus just takes it a couple steps further. The main thing these 2 Sith lords would disagree on is that Bane viewed treachery and deception as tools of progress, tools of the evolution of the Sith. Bane saw it as the fault of the victims, for being prayed upon by such things. Malgus would likely not accept this and would not have allowed a lineage of Sith hiding in the shadows, Rule Of Two or not. Malgus is certainly a well written character, far beyond what Disney's Lucas Film is capable of.

Despite Malgus having to be a combination of Vader and Malak, his whole character makes him more unique than ever. I might say it’ll be hard to agree that he’s the least evil of the Sith, but I think it’s that he wants what’s right for the republic is what I’m understanding about him and his character. But it’s not in a good way, because it has to go through sacrifices and complexities in order to have a better Republic and more likely reprogram the Sith religion. If his wishes were successful, then it’s possible that the Sith had become the Brotherhood of Shadows from the Darth Bane Trilogy, which was more of a false Sith Empire. Idk, this is my first time speculating on Malgus in general. Seriously, I think it’s that Malgus wants to be justified while learning from his horrendous actions. But I’m not sure. Although, this was a great video

Malgus is the kind of Sith I envision as being more than their base desires. He fights not for his sake but for the sake of all Sith. And combat against one's enemies does not have to be underhanded, winning at all costs. Dominating a fight against a powerful with brute strength, skill and cunning is far more impressive than weakening the enemy before the fight even happens so that the battle is hardly an exertion. I'm not saying lies and deceit and other such tactics the likes of Prunepatine excelled at is wrong or unlike a Sith, but I value the warrior more than the schemer.
