WHY DC IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MARVEL - We just done our Shazam! Movie review and today we discuss why we think Dc is more important than Marvel and why maybe at one time, DC was better than Marvel. In this funny video, we discuss our respect for DC movies and how we think they paved the way for Marvel Studios to be what it is today. An Avengers Endgame clip dropped today and the world is watching it, along with the Joker trailer, but we want to remember the movies that started the superhero genre. Captain Marvel, Captain America, and Joker are popular characters of today but we want to look at the classics like Superman and Batman. I love what the MCU has done... but I'm definitely happy to see you guys give DC their due. DC started the superhero movie trend a long time ago. They've definitely had their ups and downs, but what they've done through the years have definitely dictated how the superhero genre has gone today. They've shat the bed in recent years, but nice to hear an even-handed discussion about what their strengths have been, and how they do better in the future, to match their past greatness.

But which one. You have the well known 4 (Dick, Jason, Tim and Damien). There's also Stephanie Brown whose technically the first female robin in the dc continuity even though Carrie Kelly from the dark knight returns was before her. They probably are going with the main 4 and they all are good for movies. Dick because he's the one whose had the Robin name the longest as well as being the first. Jason would be a tragedy. Tim was a Robin without being orphaned and his dad knew. Then they murdered his dad. Damien is going to be hard because of the lore he has and the iffy implications of how much consent Bruce had when conceiving Damien.

I may be a Marvel fan, but I do appreciate DC on how iconic their characters are. Even the Joker is one of my favorite villains in any media. But when it comes to movies, Marvel has them beat. Sure, DC is making a comeback with Aquaman and Shazam, but they're never going to get their own Infinity War at this point.

But even those movies mentioned Batman, Superman, or even the events that happened in the other films. And they're experimenting too. The trailer for the upcoming Joker movie looks really good, and it looks like it has nothing to do with the DCEU. So yeah, DC doing something different isn't a bad thing, but the team-up movies might as well be non-existent for them at this point.

I think there’s a key difference between DC and Marvel at least when it comes to comics. And I don’t know if anybody agrees or not but it’s what I think. DC has been owned by Warner Bros since the late 60's. That made a huge difference because Marvel was having to license out their properties and thus had no control over the productions.

instead of a sequel to the joker being about Batman I would love it if WB would do the same style with all of Batman's villains. There's so much potential here by making each villain the protagonist and showing the audience that in the end they're people going through mental traumas or illnesses or tried to do something with good intentions but it ended up backfiring, It would be like how Batman The Animated series set up the villains. I would suggest they tell the story of Dr. Freeze next, his story is has always been one of those that that's touching, because you can understand why chose to become a villain and part of you wants him to succeed but ultimately he's doing the wrong thing for what he perceives as the right reason. I would love to see like an anthology series focusing on each villain, maybe even branch off and make villain movies for other superheros.

I tell people this all the time 1) Batman and Superman alone are more iconic than any Marvel superhero and 2) DC's villains are more iconic than any Marvel villain. People could name more Batman villains than Marvel villains. Marvel went bankrupt in the 90s, which was why their properties were dispersed all over the place. I remember the IronMan cartoon being cancelled after just 2 seasons. The only thing keeping Marvel afloat was Spiderman and X-Men. The various Spiderman movies, MCU, Disney, Kevin Feige, and RDJ playing Ironman saved Marvel. And this is how you know WB is fucking up big time. They were handed gold on a platter and shat all over it.

I wish you guys talked about the whole Keving Tsujihara situation and how he was basically the reason why WB meddled with the theatrical versions of BVS , SS , & JL instead of blaming DC as whole , notice since his departure , DC movies have been getting good reviews even now MOS is starting to get looked at as a good movie

The problem wasn't so much that DC was trying to copy Marvel, as they tried to copy Marvel but rushed the job and completely fucked it up. I think rather than diving into alternate takes on say, Superman, they need to establish an actually good, modern baseline cinematic version of the character first. Out of every character in these movies, DC has failed Superman the hardest after the first two Reeve movies.

I see a few inaccuracies in your statements especially about the dceu but with the batman tv show also cause the show is credited for renaming mr freeze as mr freeze before the show his comic name was mr zero and the is credited for creating Barbra Gordon as batgirl as well as being credited as saving batman cause before the show dc was considering canceling the production on batman comics cause of how batman had to become to get past the comic code as far as the dceu they were never trying to follow in marvels footsteps they were trying to give actual comic book fans a universe we could enjoy but the mcu fanboys couldn't stand it so ever since dawn of justice marvel fanboys made it a mission to destroy the dceu cause in their eyes every universe had to follow the mcu blueprint or get destroyed by their fanboys

​@@nahomaragaw5047 You'll definitely enjoy Logan more knowing the history of Xmen universe (all the times we see Charles and Logan together, helping each other, all the battles Logan has to fight). I know this is all in the comics but it does make a difference when you've seen it played out on the big scree. On the contrary, they say this is a one off, an else world story. The movie might turn out to be of top quality, but the Joker's best moments are when he clashes with Batman, which I guess we'll never get with this Joker...what a waste (especially if this movie turns out to be great).

The difference is that Logan is it's own story with the characters we already know. How many jokers have we had so far? At least 5. come on! don't you think it's getting pretty old? DC is afraid of making a new story with other villains because the joker has been there ultimate bread winner. Marvel took a chance with Logan a made it its own. This new joker movie is just trying to one up what heath ledger brought to the table.
