Like many of you I am SUPER excited for Decidueye but I do want to temper peoples expectations with this video on why Decidueye might actually be BAD!
Decidueyes moves look great on paper but they all have pretty long cooldowns and he is severely lacking in defensive options meaning if Decidueyes damage numbers aren't decent there is a chance that Decidueye might be bad at launch!
There is a fine line between being overpowered and underpowered with this character!

Well, the thing with razor leaf (and I’m going to guess that it is similar with shadow sneak) the duration of the spell lasts for ~7 seconds of the 12 second “cool down”, meaning the spell is active for ~7 seconds and has a cooldown of ~5 seconds (numbers are just what I have seen from gameplay, may not be the actual numbers). I think shadow sneak is ~4 second duration and ~8 second cooldown. Also ppl are saying that leaf storm is bad but it isn’t, it ties in with ur passive. Let’s say u are laning and the enemy jungles jumps onto you, just use leaf storm to cc them and put them at range (where you deal more damage).

Problem is that leaf storm only does that meaning it’ll only be good against melee mons however shadow sneak is just overall better for kiting

@@captainsar5587 True. Leaf storm is a more safety focused whereas Shadow sneak is offence. This isn’t me saying I would take leaf over shadow btw. I would need to test that in game.

With spirit shackle for sure (depending on the damage numbers). But while the UNITE move has range, historically in MOBAs sustained damage is not good for stealing objectives.

Muscle band will be a must have for decidueye so each hit does more dps, as well as buddy barrier so you can survive all the way through your unite. The last spot will probably go to scope shield, I think that the amount of hits would make uses of scopes lens better than many other Pokémon. This is all assuming you chose razor leaf, because with that build you will be hitting so so so much. With spirit shackle I think the only thing that will really change is scope lens, it would be a better idea to put choice specs or wise glasses, or even sp attack specs if you go spirit shackle. I also think that no matter what build you have, shadow sneak will be the best 2nd move, since leafage seems wayy to ineffective at what it tries to do. The dmg is too low and the range for pushing back is too small.

i was thinking the same , his kit is interesting but I'm worried about his lack of mobility and survivability , he can't even use his unite to get away since it lock you in place for some time . But I can assume his damage numbers will be high , and it should be high to make him viable

Don’t forget the lifesteal. Bc it is crazy with razor leaf. Also the unite is incredibly long range and you can shoot through walls, meaning you could hide at the jungle crab spawn and shoot ppl at zapdos, or even zap itself if the enemies aren’t paying attention.

I really like the idea of Decidueye being a sniper and having long reach. But looks like Venusaur's solar beam is going to do more damage, more range and almost the same cooldown time. Spirit shackle should be 6 seconds imo

After seeing the attack datamined, it doesn’t seem to do much damage at all. Of course it wasn’t at a long range, so I’m not sure completely, but it doesn’t seem to be much use other than for sticking enemies to the ground

Scope Lens (because he shots multiple projectiles, so the chance of a crit is even bigger) Muscle Band (cause it has a good synergy with his basic attack's passive and the Spirit Shackle) Buddy Barrier (Because he gets really exposed while in his Unite Move) Also, a big hug from Brazil!!!!

That's the side life of support mains. That's why i choose to carry the team instead with jungle greninja or some high damage mon. Of course you can't 100% carry and you need some back up from your team but when you are playing a high damage pokemon you can fill in what you are missing better

If spirit shackle doesn't do enough damage, razor leaf is gonna be meta. So razor leaf is a duration ability, meaning it last a certain amount of time and it's probably going to be about 4-5 seconds, therefore razorleaf will only technically be on a 5 second cooldown. So it's really not that bad actually

I am going to pick him up cause I have the coins for him so why not. While I don’t think he’s going to be my main (Greedent stan here) I do see that thin line between broken and weak, but based on Unite’s track record I think it’ll hover on the broken side. I personally will be running Razor Leaf and Shadow Sneak.

I think decidueye is going to not be super powerful but all four combinations of skills are going to to be viable builds giving it good diversity in match

I think razor leaf shadow sneak will be best; because razor leaf dps especially in teamfights looks to be +++, spirit shackle is good yes but it most likely won’t be used as a main damaging move…. Say in dred fight idk how useful it will be, Maybe for chasing yeah but you ald have shadow sneak for mobility…. Also shadow sneak I think is most likely always the pick because well, leaf storm….? ….I don’t know man 😅

Leaf storm plus spirit shackle seem rather broken if you can push the enemy back and charge spirit shackle to deal good damage. I wish shadow sneak could make decidueye move.

I've been picturing it as more alike a physical version of solar beam venusaur. That build doesn't have mobility either. The soft CC on decidueye abilities I guess is the way to help you hold your distance and damage. The teaser videos show a much closer distance than what you would actually play this character at.

I was thinking the game plan is staying at range/kiting... but not sure the basics have the range for it to work... its also pretty easy for characters to chase down non-mobile character regardless of how far away you start off if they have movement abilities... so we'll see I guess.

I’m maining Decidueye whether its good or bad, it seems good for clearing objectives, crowd control, and just stopping people from escaping. Feel like a choice specs fluffy tail energy amp razor leaf build could be cool

It looks very cool but it looks like its moves have very little sinergy, and the fact that it will be frail, slow and apparently focuses more on continuous small damage rather than burst makes it very hard to balance! As you said, it's kind of all or nothing. Also I find leaf storm to be very unappealing compared to the three other moves, I would have loved some mobility option instead

Not gonna lie but on the trailer decidueye looked kinda weak, and he's got no escape on his kit so if he doesn't do more damage than cinderace and greninja he'll be trash tier instantly.
