And not winning not only shows he’s not the strongest yet, but it also humbled him and shows him that he needs to get stronger and find new ways to get stronger. It gives him character development

Deku is one of my favorite protagonists. He's strong and never gives up. I also like that he isn't a full master of his powers. Characters like young Goku, Naruto, or Asta learn how their powers work pretty fast. While they need improving still, I like that Deku's has more risk to it.

To be fair, I’d take naruto out of that considering every time he accessed the nine tails chakra, he ran the risk of being taken over. Hell, in his fight with orochimaru and pain, his blind rage allowed kurama to take over and nearly reform. It also wasn’t until early in the war arc did naruto manage to tame and befriend kurama.

@@animedude8712 Naruto uses the Shadow Clone jutsu in very creative ways the whole series with his big imagination, more than anyone else using the jutsu. Even if the move itself doesn't change, Naruto clearly mastered the Shadow Clone Jutsu, even intergrating it to his Rasengan technique and being completely unconvential with this amazing idea from him.

Mineta and Tsuyu were almost dead if izuku wasn’t with them in USJ. 3. Tenya must have been with his brother in heaven but izuku saved him from hero killer stain. 4. Todoroki wouldn’t use his fire side but izuku advised him to not do that. 5. Kota would have been dead but deku saved him from muscular. 6. Eri would still be with overhaul because izuku was the first one to notice before mirio. Also deku wasn’t the one who won in the sports festival even as the dang protagonist, bakugou won. Future of this anime sometimes is not predictable.

This is coming from someone who dropped the anime/manga. But, still adore Midoriya as a protagonist. Midoriya compare to the common MC in Shounen… he’s way better. Like, most the time I either hate the MC or just neutral about them. But, Midoriya he grow on me and I enjoy read and watch him. He so real. He express emotions this is big for a male character. Shounen rarely do this for Male Protagonists. People always have this idea that if Male character express emotions their “weak” or “annoying” I mean for Midoriya case here or there it annoying (the crying it was too much for season 1). But, it’s understandable. Bakugou and society literally push this kid down and told him he basically can’t be a hero without a quirk. He’s allow to cry and be indecisive. On top of that, if Bakugou or Mirio was the protagonist I wouldn’t watch it, in my opinion. It’s to involve and boring! it would feel like any other Shounen. “A happy-go-lucky protagonist” or “Angry protagonist” this is coming from someone with enjoy Mirio character. That’s why people are saying “Mirio would make a better protagonist” or “Bakugou” they want that everyday protagonist. Personally, these storyline and characters are boring (that’s main reason I dropped MHA). Plus, it’s a annoying tradition to hate the MC in any anime… mostly Shounen. Don’t understand that tradition. FYI: I wish MHA kept Midoriya as quirkless. It would spicy up the storyline a little. Edit: Any grammatical errors is due to my disability.

I think Deku is a great Protagonist I felt bad for him in the first Season and i seeing him struggle through the seasons 2 to 4 it makes want to see him become the Hero he’s always Wants to be I like how he is smart Strong and not afraid to show how he feels and how he keeps his Friendly nature and sense of Justice along the way I like how he starts to gain Respect from other Students likes Bakugo Todoroki and Shinzo and Even Stain who sees him as the only other True Hero like Allmight and even Saves Midoria’s Life from that Nomu and says He is the only one he allows to beat him and his Friendship with Uraraka and Tenyu from the first Season and how he becomes more close to some of his Other Classmates later on.

I disagree so let's make a huge comment explaining why (I have liked the video I love his content this is for my own enjoyment): Antics with his classmates + badass moments, totally agree I find him somehow tiring with his repetitive mumbling and shyness but nothing we haven't seen before on a protagonist. (I'm going to compare him with actual shounen protagonists being Asta, Iori, Shinra and Tanjiro (Meliodas would also count but he stomps the competition)). I wouldn't define him as compeling Todoroki, Mirio and All Might are far more compeling than him... Deku has the main issue that his battles are often oneshots and his development DURING BATTLE is mainly punching harder, it has development outside of battle but never in a way in which his morals are questioned. For example in Jujutsu Kaisen episode 13 and before SPOILERS BTW, there is a point where Iori has to actually think about what means to him killing a human being and why he dislikes that idea, Shinra is constantly doubting if the firemen are doing the right thing and he even challenges his own. Deku has fought against Stain and in no moment he questioned "Hey, maybe this guy has a point and heroes aren't doing things totally right" I'm not saying that Deku has to be evil but he isn't conflicted whatsoever. Midoriya is quirkless and therefore he is an outsider... 20% of population are quirkless, even in Midoriya's class there is a guy whose quirk appears to be a long nose. Do you want to make the story of a quirkless protagonist do it right. Asta and Rock Lee are exaples that how you can do it. Even if Asta now has anti-magic the main point is that he has no mana and therefore no mana perception, so some people will never undertand how Asta feels and Asta will never undertand how other people feel and sense mana. THAT is being an outcast. Having the protagonist act as the audience surrogate, yes good point, but Deku isn't being "introduced" to the hero society, he has been there for a long time. It's not like Harry Potter that new nothing about wizards so we discover this new society together. Deku knows a bunch load about heroes, more than anyone in his class actually. We do feel sorry for him, and the main reason he is liked is that he is relatable... In the first chapter I mean, because a guy falling from the sky and granting you your wish doesn't occur very often. However I do agree, although I dislike him I do understand why he acts how he does, and I see myself reflected on him. Will he live up to the number 1 hero's expectations? At the point we are in the manga, he is not doing that well. Honestly, if All Might had given the quirk to Mirio sooooo much would be different right now (by different I mean better). The show is predictible AFq and not only that but nearly all the arcs follow exactly the same structure (Anime, Manga is getting slightly better). I really don't care about his progress, 100% and (I think this are spoilers) those are the objectives. He should honestly do more fisical training so that he can get to 100% faster. All Might said he could instantly control it because he was more beefy so... Start eating Deku, why are you not eating? He had to train for 10 months to be able to use a fraction of his power... Hum, maybe All Might shouldn't have given One for All to someone who can't use it, (Mirio crying in the corner). I wish the show portrayed him training more like Asta, Tanjiro, and Shinra are constanly training in their respective shows, this guy has an arc in which the conflict is he can't dance well enough. I do think he wants to become a pro hero, I wish the show put effort on portraying this a bit more. He is already behind all of his classmates... Ok he ended last on the sports competition they made at this start... How? Honestly, Mineta and the invisible girl (was she hagakure?) Should have ended way below him. Even if a that point he was the weakest in the tournament a couple weeks later he looses in the semi finals. He is not behind the rest of the class. Yes, he breaks his bones... Hum, maybe All Might shouldnt' have given One for All to someone who can't use it (I'm repeating myself at this point). He is a strong character whith a powerfull ability, that knocks himself out every time he uses it. And compare the times he wins being smart to the times he wins by throwing a punch. If he was smart he would body build, if he was smarter he would give his hair to Mirio (Oh Mirio, how much you have deserved this). Yeah, he thought a lot against Muscular... that was smart. I can't beat him with a punch... just shout out a larger number. (The fight is good because of the emotional involvement). This guy best idea was to use his legs instead of his arms. Honestly I would have gone with the first season idea for trapping all the villians with Mineta's ball because let's count how many protagonist think of blocking the enemy's vision: Goku, Naruto, Gon, Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric, Asta... thought is would be more, not gonna lie. Ok, you also talk about about he can be rash, the funny thing is that he chose Muscular to be rash and random villians that anyone could beat to be smart. Death stare... nice in a hero whos job is saving lifes. I think serious stare with fit more with his character. Like: "I don't want to hurt you but I will if it's necessary". But well the show does look pretty good so no complaints. I think Deku overcoming his own fear is one of the best parts of this show. Actually is a thing I can give to Deku that Asta lacks, the overcoming of fear ties very well with the teenage aspect of the show... However Iori and Shinra did it a bit better on there respective shows and after season 1 there isn't a strong moment of Deku being unable to fight because of fear and overcoming it. I preffer if the crying is a bit more laid out. Like when SPOILER FOR BLACK CLOVER Asta looses control of both his arms and they show him crying in the sunset as he swears even after this he is not giving up. The weirdness gets anoying quickly... Does he really need to take notes to stay in par with the rest of the class? He is the strongest. (I know Tokoyami (Midnight), Bakugo and Todoroki are debatable). Indeed he is a hero and he is kind, which ties up with what I said at the start, he is way to kind to the good guys and way to unkind with the bad guys. Why? Asta, Iori, Shinra and Tanjiro all have empathised at some point with the villians of the show, but Deku that tries to help everyone has no issue bashing every villian. Te thing is that the show is constantly questioning the hero society so why doesn't any of this rub on Deku. Deku, if your love your mom, give one for all to Mirio and get a job at Walmart, she will still be proud and much less worried. Ok, reading my own comment I have to say that I sound bitter (and a huge fan of Mirio). So this is a conclusion to make my argument on why Deku is not a great protagonist. It is the baggage. Every modern shounen protagonist has a flaw they have to overcome a looming threat over their heads that they cannot scape. Iori is a pretty boring guy, but he is the vessel of the strongest demon and he is eventually going to absorve all of it and get killed. Asta is almost perfect in every aspect, he is a total chad, but he born without magic so the show actually portrays him working harder than anyone else, as a fact the only reason why he can use the ant magic swords is because he is strong enough to lift them (and because he trained with ki to be able to manipulate anti-magic). Shinra has very clear goals and ideas, but SPOILERS FOR FIRE FORCE it is the fact that he is a pillar in close relationship with the Evangelist, his mother is a demon, his brother works for the bad guys and the show is constantly taunting us with the idea that there is something really messed up. And then we have Tanjiro who is pretty boring, but her sister being a demon gives him a totally different perspective that the rest of the demon slayers lack, and for this he is condemened (with Demon Slayer being so basic the arguments within the demon slayers are not explained but that tension is still there). Deku had a flaw, being born quirkless, and he overcome on the first episode. The only thing that Deku needs to do right now is training, so the show has gotten to a point where I'm just staring to random conflict that Deku shoudn't even be into, because there are far more competent people whose job is to solve this issues, while I'm just wondering why isn't he training. He has the power, he apparently is worthy of it, what is stoping him. So Deku story is basically already over. One for all is not a complex quirk to master, he doesn't have to cross the Grand Line of to proove the people that he is worthy of being Hokage or to collect the seven dragon balls... He doesn't even have to safe the girl like Ichigo does (he had to safe Bakugo once, but Bakugo almost saved himself and the pro heroes should be able to del with that stuff alone). Deku is ok, he has some fun moments he acts consistenly, I just preffer to watch other guys. Like even within My Hero Academia there are far more enjoyable characters that Deku, he is alright.

@@jorgehuertas3995 I'm going to point out some here,He did want to give Mirio his quirk But Mirio denied and Having called worthless for years By his own childhood friend made a huge impact for him which leads him to want to quit or beng true to his desire which is being a hero,People tend to Forget the affects of bullying to him and come to conclusion,His mother didn't even believe Him,And the fact Even all might didn't believe in him Affected him afterwards,For that,He Always thinks his not worthy of AFO thus tries to give it to mirio after thinking he failed to save him,And Having no quirk is basically being disabled and Someone made fun of him for that ,and for the asta one the difference is,Midoriya was already Confirmed Quirkless at a young age,The thing is quirks is not everyone have and will never have if they didn't have it Since birth leading to Him to just admire heroes so basically Training At a ying age like asta for years wouldn't work in that superhero world and hoping to someone to give you a quirk is a miracle in itself but that's different for asta,He was supported by Not everyone But Atleast One person And Having magic Is a Gift But Not something Impossible in that world so He wouldn't know if he just had a weak magic and Continued to drink That Juice to increase magic power,Though At the final moment when the guy with the chains attacked them,He almost lost hope, That's basically deku,he thought everything he did was worthless or will do,Not hating though,Everyone has their own Style for a shounen protagonist and everyone can have their opinion

@@sups6192 Yes he did try to give his quirk to Mirio and he was right in doing so, because Mirio deserves it far more than him, which was proven when Mirio denied the quirk because he didn't want to take others opportunities as a hero should. (Midoriya doesn't want either and the heroic aspect of him is pretty legit). You go on a full tangent about how bullying makes him doubt himself... Didn't seem to be that way when he threw himself against a villian to safe his bully, or when he accepted one for all without a second thought, it seems to be a bit of a selective bullying trauma. Dude, 20% of the population is quirkless and having a quirk doesn't even mean anything because a lot of quirks are shit. Mei's quirk is amplifying her sight and she is doing great. Saying Deku is disabled for not having a quirk is pretty rough, also he now has a quirk... The strongest quirk in fact. And I could keep going but I'm repeating myself at this point. Nuxtaku did a 40 minute video on why Deku sucks, his points are very clear, so go see that if you want some perspective.
