To be fair, I don't think it's that easy to copy the Nordic countrie's success. It's based on very old cultural norms and historical developement based on the social and living conditions up here. Very few people in large territories, where people were very dependant on each other to survive. People in general have also owned their own farming land, making them very independent. So central government has always been pretty weak compared to many other counties. But there are also other cultural components, that aren't that eaasy to explain. Because I guess some of my descriptions probably fit other countries - like perhaps Afghanistan? But why were women already in viking times very much more equal to men in the Nordic countries? I'd say the developement is probably something like 1'500 years! In the end, the only way the emerging central government could stay in some sort of power, was to also serve the common good. Central government HAD to be benevolent. Else it faced beeing thrown out by peasant armies. (So we never had a feudal system, like the rest of Europe.) (I'm Swedish - and also feel very Nordic.)

This clip portrays Janteloven as something positive, but janteloven was a sarcastic law created by a author sheding lights on the bad side of unwritten norms and rules of society here in Norway. Janteloven is a set of societal norms that emphasize humility, collectivism, and discouraging individual pride. The "laws" are often phrased as negative injunctions, like "You should not think you're special," "You should not think you are better than us," or "You should not think you are smarter than us." Its not what a typical norwegian would be proud of saying that they follow the rules of Jante, we try to move away from these norms, and think differently. Why are people so fixated on jantelagen... or "jante's law" as you called it in the vid. It's not like it's a legislation, nor is it taught in schools. It's simply a cultural norm, and yet again not related to any sort of "you must not do this!"-type of rhetoric. It's more like we can be relaxed in everyday life, which then gets reflected in how we dislike it when people disrupt that which makes us calm. We're also taught something very simple: politeness to each other. It's nowhere near as strict, but it's something that can be compared to Japanese cultural norms, and the social hierarchy isn't as much of a thing, hence how you get what people call jantelagen (which you called "Jante's Law").

Greetings from Finland! Even if we often use the phrase "free education, health care and social security services", I'd like to remind that these services are not practically free. They're being paid by everyone as taxes, regardless of if you need the services yourself or not. And that wouldn't be possible without relatively high sense of community and responsibility among the people in the society. We feel like it benefits all of us to have every citizen lead a humane level of quality of life. Because the people who fall for the struggles in the society will always have an effect on great, great amount of people around, not just themselves. Another example of the sense of community and responsibility here are the everyman's rights that have existed here forever. Everyone has the right to use the resources of the nature, because we're all in this together, but everyone also has the responsibility: to not destroy the nature and to take just what they need and not more, so everyone else can also enjoy the nature. So I'd say, the shared sense of community and the shared sense of responsibility are the two keys to make a country more happy and successful.
