Get the book "The Star on the Grave"... It's written by a daughter of one of the saved Jews. It's quite brilliant.

I work at Chiune Sugihara St. in Netanya, Israel. I work at a science and culture center there that was donated by a Japanese philantropist, so the city named the street to honor the Japanese diplimat who saved so many lives.

So sad, that many people like Sugihara, never got the recognition they deserved
@taxol2Күн бұрын
They didn’t want the recognition, partly because it was risky for them. Also, they just wanted to help.

He is very much a common name in our community. We learn about him in elementary school and high school, there are articles about him in our magazines, many speakers on the holocaust mention him. We really appreciate his work and sacrifice in saving our families, it's a pity the way the Japanese government and people treated him and his family.

I can't believe this channel hasn't discussed king Mohammad the V of Moroco, he saved the lives of all 250,000 Moroccan Jews by refusing to give them over to the Nazi regime and many consider him a righteous gentile. The Moroccan Jews of Israel and Morocco relations with Israel are in large part due to this man, I would love to see a video about him made.

When he was writing the illegal visas, I think Sugihara feared worse than the ending of his career. Had Japan won the war, the government might have been emboldened to exact harsher punishment on a subordinate that had effectively worked against a Japanese ally, Germany. But a defeated Japan, controlled by the Americans, was probably not in a position to punish such a diplomat.

A Japanese captain was the only one who took refugees onboard his ship while tenths of European and American ships were just watching Smyrna in flames and Greeks getting slautered... you've gotta give them some credit to the Japanese people... the code of honor they have [Bushido] runs in their vanes still...
@Martyn-13372 күн бұрын
Bushido has its own cons but we cannot ignore its pros. There are japanese soldiers who were against cruelty and inhumane treatment.

It's a great job of what these people have done. I've even seen you put in one of the titles, the Oscar Schindler of Asia, but yet you still haven't done a video and pay respects to him. I know there's been a movie about him, but there have to be things they have left out like his early life and after the war. Plz think about it
