As a kid, I was so excited whenever a new episode of "Day9's Funday Monday" was released, because it was so hilarious for me to watch. I missed Day9 a lot in the SC 2 scene, and how SC 2 completed my days, as a child.

I'll never forget Day9's amazing story about how he had a girl he was into come over to his house and he was so excited for her to see how good at Starcraft he was, only for her to say "You sure do click a lot in this game. Is this just a game where you click as fast as you can?" Day9 Daily was such a treat and I was so sad when it came to an end.

Man Day9 was such an inspiration for me as a kid. I remember him talking once about how he would meet a girl or make new friends and all he wanted to do was share with them this new trick he learned to counter lurkers or something like that. How he was just so happy and excited about anything he was passionate about and didn't care what other people though of it. His funny and dynamic storytelling. This man just ooozed confidence and from the outside world people would wonder why would a weeb like that with a goofy missing tooth be so happy and full of confidence; however no one could deny that they were drawn to it. I started implementing that in my life as well. I never hide anything I'm doing from anyone, I always try to put my best face on and be happy, I get super passionate and love to share anything that interests me, never embarrassed by what others might think about it and that attitude has made me so many friends and taken me so many places. Big thanks to Day9 for being the streamer we all needed 10-15 years ago. Todays twitch streamers are a cancer compared Day9. I even remember Day9 in the Justin.tv days and without his success on that platform you have to wonder if twitch would have ever even came about.

One night, back in 2012 more or less,at a pub in Cordoba, south of Spain, I met a guy for totally not nerdy reasons. We were chatting about music and club culture and such and he said he wanted to show me a band in his phone. He takes it out of his pocket, opens youtube and the first video in his recomended list was one of Day9. I stopped him: do you watch Day9? Him: do YOU watch Day9? Me: of course I watch Day9! Insta friendship, and the rest of the night we passed talking about Spanishiwa and his 100 roaches attacks, I still remember. Good days (my gf at the time got annoyed at me for not dancing with her the rest of the night but, hey, she introduced us. Kinda her fault)

This just hit me right in the feels, I remember watching SC2 when it first came out, it was exciting and fresh, I still think of it as a new game, then realize that was all 13 years ago, and it will never happen again - I feel privileged looking back, trying to get into modern games like New World and Valorant was a lesson in toxic immaturity I didn't want.

He's said a few times that the SC2 shows, and /especially/ Funday Monday, were just a ton of work. He's pointed out that they were wildly popular, and that if they were easy to do, someone else would've taken up the torch. It's sad, but understandable that he's got other things going on. People still play monobattles to this day, though.

Day9 stopped doing SC2 work for the same reason SC2 can never be as popular as casual games - the barrier for entry is very high. The game is very tough and it's just not fun to play; it's more work than play. Similarly, those SC2 analysis videos were tough to research and prepare, and it wasn't viable compared to spending a fraction of the time just playing a random card game and getting same viewership or more. It just makes sense.

Day9 has fascinated me, even more when it's all about "Funday Monday".

Maybe I'm missing something but the reason seems pretty simple. The game is old and not very popular anymore, and Day9 has grown and his interests/priorities have shifted.

I learned about Day9 from Magic The Gathering, Spellslingers show. Great show, full of nerdy humor! I missed SC2 due to job and other duties and interests, but used to play BW as a teenager. His levels of energy are beyond insane ;)

I discovered and became a fan of Day9 around the time of the SC2 beta. I had never played SC:BW or anything but I played WoW so when I saw that Blizzard was releasing SC2 I wanted to check it out. I ended up coming across one of his videos covering the beta and I started watching him regularly, then I got into watching the Day9 daily. I didn’t even play SC2 all that much, I was pretty casual with it, but I enjoyed watching him so I watched even though I didn’t play the game much. I always enjoyed his casting as well because he was a natural at it and it was always fun and humorous. I still go back and watch old Day9 daily videos every now and then even though he’s moved on. I also still watch his MTGA content too. I’ll support him in whatever he does just because he’s gotten me through a lot and he deserves the best for it. He’s just excellent.

Day9 has said that he's "taking a break" from blizzard games due to the sexual harassment controversies of the last few years. It's sort of a "soft boycott". The last Starcraft content he did was in 2017 with his "let's learn how to play starcraft" series. But he still has a channel for gaming. Mainly for Magic, Adventure Games (Mostly Walking) and the occasional big release (ie Elden Ring and currently Baldur's Gate 3). I'm sure he'll do Starcraft content again at some point, but probably not to the point where it's the only game he streams like he used to. He's having too much fun playing different games.
