Wow, a sandalwood seat encrusted with diamonds used as a toilet. That must be when folks started referring to a toilet as "the Throne". I was getting nervous wondering what was to be done with the water in the maids' mouths, but how could they warm the toilet paper without getting it wet? Did Cixi use it herself or did the maids have to clean her? I wondered how the noble ladies would manage with those guards on their nails. Did they have to take them off before or did they occasionally lose one in there? I wouldn't want to be the maid who had to retrieve it. Yikes!!!
