I saw the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London in 2004. (with my young daughters) We got there at opening & went straight to them. (figuring the line would get long) *They had a "moving floor" (like you use in airports) in front of the Crown Jewels to keep the line moving.* But since we were the only ones in there we kept walking backwards to look in awe! Finally a guard turned the floor off since we were alone & we got to really look at them! The Scepter & Crown with the largest Star of Africa diamonds were absolutely HUGE. Definitely worth the visit.

The Crown Jewels are not 'owned' by the Monarch; rather by the UK State, along with a wealth of other jewellery pieces which are then loaned to individual RF members. Other pieces are indeed privately purchased by members of the RF, and therefore can be bequeathed to family members. Gifts from other States usually form part of the jewellery loan 'pool' e.g. the diamond maple leaf gifted by the people of Canada, the Silver Fern Brooch from the people of New Zealand, and the white and yellow Wattle Brooch from Australia, and the list goes on.

Objects given as gifts to the queen are not part of the Crown Jewels. Some are her personal jewels and some she holds in the name of the crown to be passed on to the next Monarch. I remember reading something about there being a difference in ownership if the jewelry was made before or after Queen Victoria.

Andamooka opals but yes, I have several small opals from our fields (I used to live in the north of South Australia) and the Queen’s piece is of very modern design & unusual. I suspect because it doesn’t glitter as much as the other jewels, it’s exempt from this video but also because it may not be part of the offical Crown (jewels) but rather from her own personal collection. 👑🫅💍

@@preet5033 Britain didnt directly steal 45 trillion the vast vast VAST majority of that was just from tarrifs and other such merchantile exploitation , honestly it was quite smart , though it was a harsh form of capitalism india had always exported alot of goods but the british managed to completely dominate the indian trade and thus the tea and mutch of the spice trade but most of that was over a period of 200 + years since the tarrifs , Merchantile policies , preferential trade etc really added up over such a long period its the same way the dutch dominated the Spice trade in the 1600 and 1700s as they were nearly unaposed in the East indies / Indonesia , the dutch didnt get rich of plundering indonesia , they got rich by Dominating and tarrifing trade from the east indies spice trade . another point is that a massive part , nearly half if im not mistaken of British india wasnt even Directly administered or owned by the british , with massive parts of india still being owned by the various princes , but all of them were vassals , protecterates , allies etc and paid some sort of tribute to the british

@@lipstick318 If you think they harass Americans, try traveling in England as a German. You really need some special humor to turn tables around. Then you can have a great time at the pub. Some still are stuck in old centuries. In every pub somebody tells WWII stories and they do erect their arm for greeting the German guest. Do they think this is appreciated or funny? Well, in Germany you go into jail for greeting with erected arms. Raping children is a minor thing in court but greeting with Hitler Gruß is the biggest crime ever. Of course some English bloke brags about they won WWII even when born 50 years after WWII. Their friends usually try to calm them down, so it is not the whole pub against the German guests. Most English people are still in the mindset of Empire great Britain. When Brexit happened they were not worried about traveling in the next years. They said they always were able to travel anywhere, nothing would ever change because of Brexit. Now little by little they find out learning by doing. Covid regulations were not helpful in staying financially well. The new King Charles III starts a new Era. We keep our eyes peeled for news in Downing Street no. 10. Bo Jo was the party boy and Liz Truss couldn't stomach much. Let's see what comes next. With a good cup of tea and the dry British humor the island will survive somehow.

Diana knew that her oldest son would have access to many family jewels if he had wanted them for his fiancé. Harry was very close to Catherine and William and he offered it to William to give to Catherine when they became engaged. I think that was very gracious of Harry and now that it belongs to Catherine it will stay in the royal family through Williams line as king. I believe it will probably go to Princess Charlotte as Diana’s eldest granddaughter which I think is fitting.

Apparently being American I may be uninformed but wont Charles still become king when QE passes???? And I'm very interested in the answer to this question bc I hope like hell the crown passes him and given to PW instead! PC forfeited his birth right when he cheated on his wife, divorced her and had her murdered! I know ppls opinions and views on the matter vary but I firmly AND genuinely believe SOMEONE(possibly several) in the royal family put a hit out on PD when she officially divorced Charles and left the family. They knew as long as she was alive that there would be a great chance she would sing like a canary, ruining Charles chance to become king and/or possibly jeopardizing the monarchy altogether! So in order to keep the crown intact Diana HAD to go and I feel it with all my heart! And didn't QE tweak the rules a bit to where if Diana died that Charles would be completely free to remarry and still be crowned king? I thought BOTH their spouses had to be dead in order to remary?? And wasn't that changed right around the time Charles and Diana were going at it or the time Diana had passed??? Are either of you from that country or know the answer to that question ??? Also what is the general mood of the public when it comes to Charles still becoming king??? I know if I lived there and my hard earned tax dollars funded the royals cushy lifestyle I'd be HIGHLY pissed if Charles was still given the crown regardless of him breaking the rules/protocol! It's complete crap QE changed it for the sake of HER son BUT she wouldn't even be queen or have a crown to pass on had the duke of Windsor been able to marry Wallis. It's not okay for her uncle but perfectly fine for her son?! It pisses me off!(obviously!) lololol
@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 4 жыл бұрын
@@onlytymewilltell Why on earth would the royal family have had Diana murdered? She was too dumb to be a threat to anyone but herself! She got herself killed because she made two fatal mistakes - the first was to turn down the Queen's offer of world class, Scotland Yard bodyguards and driver for life following her divorce, something the Queen felt her position as mother of the heir to the throne warranted. But petty Diana thumbed her nose at the offer and instead allowed the shady Al Fayed family to handle her security, and provide a drunk driver. Diana's other mistake was to fail to fasten her seat belt. The inquest was clear - if she had given her children a thought and buckled up, she'd have survived the crash like bodyguard Trevor Rees Jones who fastened his when he saw how crazily the chauffeur was driving. So how do you think Diana's 'murderers' made her fail to fasten her seat belt - telepathy? It was her own bad, irresponsible decisions that got Diana killed, no one else.

At 8:18 the photograph of Queen Mary is said to show her wearing The Lesser Stars of Africa brooch, but she is in fact wearing the Cullinan I and Cullinan II as a brooch, and The Lesser Stars of Africa as part of her necklace. As far as I know, this is the only time the two largest diamonds were ever worn in this way, and it was done before they were set into the crown and scepter respectively. This was done when they had first been cut, and gifted to the monarch. They can be taken out of their settings and worn like this again, but no one ever has. The Cullinan I is over 500 carats, over a third of the total weight of the original rough stone. The original stone weighed a pound and a half. It is easy to assume this diamond alone weighs in around a half a pound by itself. That is just far too heavy to wear for any length of time. She is wearing it on a dress over a very firm corset, if you put it on a modern dress it would pull the dress down, cause it to sag, and possibly tear it.

You might want to double check your facts regarding the Cambridge emeralds. The gems were won in a lottery by the Duchess of Cambridge. That is correct. She was Queen Mary's grandmother, not her mother. Her mother was HSH the Duchess of Teck. She inherited the emeralds from her mother and left them to her son, Queen Mary's brother. It is true that he gave them to his mistress and Queen Mary did demand their return, but she didn't storm off and physically take them. She made the request. The jewels were promptly returned. When you make an error that sloppy, it's difficult to believe anything else in the video.

I loved the Queen. I am an American and my family fought the Brits as we have been in the states since the 1600. But I have always admired her and England as well. She was a Woman for her time. How could you ask for more.

A Cult of Personality arises when an individual uses mass media, propaganda, or other methods to create an idealized, and at times, a ' god-like or a goddess-like ' public image, through Unquestioning Flattery and Praise. ( Charles, his deceased mother Elizabeth, William, Anne, Kate, Camilla including the other representatives) They represent an old cult-like institution with a very bad history and the following words would apply to it. Characteristics of a Cult. The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader, ( Charles ) Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged. The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act and feel. The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader and members, ( Charles and the other representatives ) The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society. The leader is extremely protected and does not give interviews. (Charles ) The leader is not held accountable to any authority. ( Charles ) Unquestioning adulation is expected from the followers. The old monarchy has an evil history. Racist, Incest, Adultery, Immorality, Tyranny, Brutality, Genocide, Slavery, Theft, Dysfunctional, Aloof, Extremely Secretive, Irrelevant, Suffocating Formality, Abnormal and a Prison - Like Lifestyle. Edward's and Simpson's allegiance to Hitler. Andrew / Epstein and Charles / Jimmy Savile. Diana's arranged / forced marriage to Charles and his horrible treatment of her.Philip and his affairs. Anne divorced. Andrew divorced . Charles divorced. Britain has a monarchical government with five Prime Ministers in a short period of 6 years.North Ireland without a functioning government for a period of two years.Yet the monarchy representatives and its followers claim that the monarchy provides stability for a government-! Henry VIII divorced two of his wives and the other two were BEHEADED-! Hanged, Drawn and Quartered.The "drawing" part actually comes first and it involves the convict being tied to a type of sled that's "drawn" or dragged behind a horse all the way from the prison to the gallows. Then he was hung by a rope tied from the gallows and around his neck. After a few terrifying minutes of near-asphyxiation, the rope was cut and the man fell down. Then his penis and testicles were cut off, his bowels were pulled out, his heart was cut out and all were burned before him in a fire. Next, his abdomen was slit open from groin to sternum. His head was severed from his body and his body cut into four quarters to be disposed of at the king's pleasure. The body parts were then taken on a publicity tour and distributed to the surrounding towns as a warning to those who would challenge the authority of the king. One of the main reasons for doing all of this was to demonstrate the absolute power of the monarchy. Burning at the Stake was another awful way to be killed. Not much wonder as to why Harry and Meghan turned their backs on the old Cult - Like monarchy with its Abnormal and Prison-Like Lifestyle. They preferred to have their FREEDOM. Possibly Kate has decided to have her FREEDOM as well.

"Crown Jewels" has more than one definition. Legally, it refers to those pieces of jewelry that belong to the Royal Collection, held in trust for the British people, and so can't be disposed of or altered except with the approval of the Government. The Crown Jewels at the Tower of London, mostly used for the Coronation only (exceptions being the Imperial State Crown and Queen Victoria's Baptismal Font), are referred to as the Regalia. While The Queen's personal jewelry collection is often thought as forming part of the Crown Jewels, it is not; and the Queen can give, sell or--most likely--alter such pieces as she sees fit.

Cullinan diamond from her owning the diamond than crown and the Koh-i-Nûr diamond that supposed to be cursed for men. Why do people seem to be out of touch with these things the queen also owns a lot if not most of the Russian jewellery Queen Mary was very fond of her Russian jewellery because she could pay cheap and Edward VIII ran away with a piece of crown jewels as well when you study things you know things people who have not studied go along with the norm knowledge is power and you can't go on moaning someone knows a hell of a lot more than I have the higher ground or people could always bet some money on it put your money on it.

Once when rehearsing on stage at the Vienna Staatsoper, Birgit Nilsson's string of pearls broke. While helping her retrieve them, conductor Herbert von Karajan asked, "Are these real pearls bought with your La Scala fees?" Nilsson replied, "No, these are fake pearls bought with your Vienna Staatsoper fees."

It's ridiculous that they state the values of these unique and historic royal treasures - in reality you cannot put a price on any of them, they are literally priceless because not only are they unique, they would never come up for sale!
@josephcraffigan8489
@josephcraffigan8489 4 жыл бұрын
The uniqueness is why it can only ever be an estimate but there are ways of actually grading the crown jewels literal jewels. Which is what these figures are. Also this was from the 90s so inflate the price a bit for good measure.

@@josephcraffigan8489 Yes it's an old TV show and the estimates given are inevitably low, but even so my point stands. You cannot put an accurate estimate on items as historic and unique as these. They are the embodiment of the term 'priceless'. I guess at the end of the day any item, from a loaf of bread to a diamond ring, is only actually worth what someone is willing to pay for it. There is no intrinsic monetary value to anything, because every item's value is totally subjective based on it's desirability to human beings at any given time. These historic artefacts would never be offered for sale on the open market. But if, for argument's sake they were, there's no way of knowing how high the bidders would go. The sky's the limit.

@@glamdolly30 you could call them invaluable. But these things came with commission prices. They aren’t incalculable they had base prices and there are still market for these precious stones and metals. You can come up with several prices based on different factors but these all comes out to just like they said estimates. An item is only priceless once, And a duplicate never is.
@glamdolly30
@glamdolly30 4 жыл бұрын
@@josephcraffigan8489 Are we talking about the same thing? I am referring to unique, historic artefacts (the Crown Jewels for example), in the ownership of the royal family for many generations and never, ever will they leave their ownership or be sold. The value of the metals, jewels etc are relevant only if they were not the historic items they undoubtedly are. Yes you can value them purely according to their precious metal weight, the gemstones etc, ie the intrinsic value, but obviously that's not an accurate value in the context of their history. And estimates of such unique pieces can only ever be that - and may be wildly inaccurate. Princess Diana's sapphire and diamond engagement ring (now worn by Prince William's wife Catherine), is a case in point. Made by jeweller Garrards, it cost £28,500 when Prince Charles bought it in 1981, which equates to around £112,000 today. Unusually for a royal engagement ring it was not bespoke or from the royal vaults, but was available to the general public to buy when Prince Charles purchased it for Diana (she chose it from a tray of rings all available at that time from Garrards). So there must be ordinary members of the public - albeit wealthy ones - who also bought that exact same ring at the time it was available for Prince Charles to purchase. I've no idea how many of that exact same ring Garrard produced when it was part of their catalogue, but there are certainly a number of identical rings to the late Princess Diana's in existence, and obviously they will have the same intrinsic value as Diana's (though because they are the exact same model of ring that Diana chose for her engagement 40 years ago, they will have a premium attached for fans of the Princess who would love to own 'her' ring - or at least a duplicate). However, none of the unknown owners of the ring could hope to sell theirs for anything like the value of the ring Catherine Duchess of Sussex now wears. Her ring's worth was recently estimated at £500,000 on the open market, purely because the iconic Princess Diana wore it for so many years (she loved it so much, she even wore it in 1996, after her divorce), and its royal provenance in general. But as the most famous and often worn piece of jewellery the late princess owned (she was photographed wearing it more than any other bauble), its value is impossible to accurately estimate. Diana remains a legendary and much-loved public figure. Interest in her is still so fierce internationally, the sky's the limit if her iconic engagement ring were ever auctioned. £500,000 is surely a drop in the ocean - serious jewellery collectors, history buffs and Diana fans would almost certainly bid millions to own that historic ring that symbolises Princess Diana more than any item she owned in her 36 years on Earth.

@@glamdolly30 half the stuff they own was stolen or annexed. It can always go back to a former “home” & you just made my point for me. You literally just made listing prices for their original bills of sale. Thats something to work with. & if the ring was just appraised don’t you think you kind of just proved to yourself that they can have a estimate of worth before speculation of personal preference or other supposed speculation.
