I have the Gx9 and the 15mm 1.7 summilux and the 14-140mm 3.5 Lens, its a great camera lens combination. I love it, small compact. I love the Panasonic colour and the IBIS is brillinat. It maybe over 6 years old, but its still a great bit of kit.. The 15mm f1.7 summilux is the best lens I have ever used, its pin sharp. Great combination, if you have not tried the Summilux, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

I own and love the GX85/9. I love them both so much I’ve purchased backup bodies for both of them. I do street photography. I value small and lightweight. These bodies work well for my needs. Contrast detection autofocus works well for photography. Autofocus isn’t very sticky in video. These bodies have excellent video features. Wish there was a microphone jac. The small EVF is small but is adequate. I’m so glad there is an EVF for this small body. Love the L monochrome D joegs from the GX9. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Haha coming from the GX85 and thinking about grabbing the G100D because of the monochrome filters. But I'm gonna hit the brakes real quick - looks like OM System's announcing a new camera this first week of Feb, and there are rumors swirling about a G100 II announcement too. Might wanna wait and see what's cooking! 🤷‍♂️📸

I’ve seen the OM rumours but didn’t know about the G100 II rumours… that could be an interesting camera 🤔

@JasonFriendPhotography I am so close to getting the G100D. As a photographer and filmmaker/actor, the G100D, now with the OLED viewfinder and USB-C, makes absolute sense. It is so tempting since I get an employee discount for working in a camera store. Like you, I am more into photography, but I also have a talent for directing and filming. The 4K crop for vlogging doesn't bother me at all. I've made films that left the classroom in fits of laughter, with tremors of laughter echoing through the hallways and other classrooms hearing it. And those were just made with an early Sony camcorder. . . it's not even mine. Those were the days 😎

I used a GX8 a good few years ago and really enjoyed using it. The viewfinder was small but the fact that you could angle it upwards was fantastic. It really does save your back and knees when photographing subjects close to the ground...

I’ve heard good things about the GX8… I had a GX7 for a while which I really enjoyed. The GX9 is great - but it needs the grip to make it usable really. Btw … it’s your fault I’ve ended up getting another M43 body - I had camera size envy when we met up at Allan Banks 😂

6:30 for both the issues with grip and viewfinder the cure may be to… get Lumix G90/95. It's „a bit larger version” of GX9 (just a bit) - more comfortable to use and with better ergonomics. And it offers some more (like Light Composition etc.).

@@andrewbaxter9395 no. GX9 has "T" time (as compared to "B" on G90), but "Light Composition" won't show up when you turn the rear dial in "M" mode.

I got back into shooting with a GX8 and absolutely love it, I use a Peak Design L plate with a hand strap for when I'm walking around towns and it works really well. I love the rotating EVF and a pro photographer at a football match saw it and commented how rare they are now. I just traded the 12-32 for the 12-60, very definitely the lens I use most of the time now.

I’m looking at the 12-60… went to Edinburgh last week (this weeks video!) and found the 14-42 was good but would like something just a bit wider or a touch longer… hence the 12-60.

@@JasonFriendPhotography I have both the PL and kit 12-60 lenses. I prefer the kit lens for street photography. The PL gives up the f2.8 rapidly. I want the lack of bokeh. The kit lens is smaller and lighter than the PL. Also cheaper. I love the reach of this lens. Hope you enjoy this lens. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

I use a gx80 for my everyday carry and a 12-60 which covers all I need for a carry around and it’s amazing, on a plus side the app on the phone works well

@ it’s all I need and feels well balanced, tried my friends Lica and it’s heavy on the front and unbalanced plus I could not see any image quality difference especially for the money.

I’ve heard that from a few people (not a drastic improvement in IQ - if any) and the size did put me off. That’s all really good to know - thank you for the comment!

GX9, wow!! this is my first and only camera❤🙂Tested bunch of lenses and stayed with 14-140 II - for landscape👌 also have 9 mm and 42,5 mm for street😁 btw I have an original eyecup, it’s a must have, it’s safer for an eye👍 I don’t use this extragrip, it’s too big

Thanks for the comment! Does the 14-140 feel ok on the camera or is it front heavy? I may well go for an eyecup because I think it could make a big difference

Nice images! I use both the OM5 and GX9 for street and travel photography. Both have their pros and cons, but overall, I find the quality of the images produced after post processing in Lightroom can rival any APSC camera, and even match a few FF cameras, even in low light situations. Okay, i accept that you cannot achieve the very narrow DoFs if that's what you are after, but with a f1.4 prime, and LR blur, you can get somewhere near 😊! And, of course, the mft system doesn't break the bank, or your back!

Thank you! I agree, the image quality is up there with larger format cameras although I do think you have to be a bit more considered with the processing - this isn’t a bad thing though. I did enjoy the OM5 when I had it and i do miss some of the features… I’m keeping my eye on the om1!

I have one of these bought at the end of its run. Surprised to see several online pundits pushing them again after we rode through the "micro 4/3, in general, and GX9, are rubbish, move on to Full Frame", period. Nice to see. My thoughts - buying the rubber eye cup I found essential with that viewfinder. A grip is useful using any lens bigger than the 12-32. I got a JJC one from China via Ebay for about £10. Biggest downside is having to focus, and then switch to manual focus, for video, to avoid the pulsing. But I only do minimal video snips. The video, just on Standard Photo Style, looks quite nice, though. With 12-32 on it fits easily in any bag, for shopping/I won't take photos trips, and with a 12-60 and the grip for actual photo trips/holidays. Very useful.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. The EVF is my main bugbear really… I might get an eyecup as I think it will solve the problem but also worried about the extra size. Love the photos it produces though…

Totally agree that the rubber eye cup makes a great difference. I highly recommend getting one. I also have the JJC grip but it was hurting my palm because the grip edges are not bevelled. I then got the Panasonic grip and I find it a lot more comfortable. But I don't find the camera difficult to hold. I seldom use the grips.
