A few points on why I moved from the Sunni school to the Shi'i school. I formally converted to Islam in 1999 after two years' of deep reflection. Initially I did not know that there were different 'schools' (madhhabs) within Islam, but gradually I discovered people's different approaches within it. Upon discovering the narrations from the direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad (s), I realised that there had, in effect, been a cover up of the true history.
At 10:00, I mean to say that Mu'awiya campaigned against 'Ali b. Abi Talib (as) at the Battle of Siffin, but edited that bit out.
- Guaranteed Sunnis are not going to be able to resist trying to 'tell' me about what they don't know.
- Unfortunately I have had to switch off comments due to the usual predictable responses that I heard over twenty years ago.

‘Verily I am leaving amongst you that which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray - the Book of Allah and His Prophet’s Sunnah’. Abdullah Faisal writes that this hadith is ‘Reported by Malik without connected isnād (2/899). It is supported from the hadith of Ibn Abbās (ra) reported in connected form by al-Hakim and declared hasan NOT SAHIH by Shaykh al-Albani’. (Blind Following of Maddhabs, p. xviii). It has only been reported once.
‘It is probable that I will be called soon, and I will respond. So I leave behind me two weighty things: the Book of Allah, which is a string stretched from the heavens to the earth; and my progeny, my ahl al-bayt. Verily Allah, the Merciful, the Aware, has informed me that these two will never be separated from each other until they meet me at the Fountain of Abundance (the Hawdh of Kawthar). Therefore, be careful how you treat these two in my absence.’ This hadith has been narrated by more than twenty companions of the Prophet (s) and has also been narrated by over 185 narrators mentioned in Sahih Muslim, 2:238, Musnad Ibn Hanbal, 5:181-182, Sahih Tirmidhi.
