Your fun facts always caught my attention since it appeared in my feed but your story means a lot to me too. I've been going through a lot myself and I think I'm finally on the upswing. Haven't drank for nearly three months after going cold turkey. It was so bad I'd be drinking everclear at work. My girlfriend has been here for me through all this too which has made a ton of difference, and I'm sorry you were so alone. It's nice to hear a story of overcoming such a tough place to be in as yours, it makes it feel like there really is something worth fighting for. Looking forward to seeing where all this takes you and hearing more fun facts :)

I’m happy you’ve gotten to this point and are still able to look back and reflect on what’s happened. I understand that the sentiment of that inner voice is the worst critic. I was diagnosed as bipolar depressive at 14 and it was after a few months that I developed the mindset that ‘No one hates you more than yourself’ and it’s been my comfort. I’ve also developed a roll no matter where I may be, at work with my students, with my friends or with family but I’m the communal punching bag. And I take pride in this roll! Everyone who pokes fun at me does it because they know that I take it to make them feel better. If they’re having a bad day or just need a laugh, I hold no punches on making myself the thing to laugh at. I’ve created this role in my life to make others feel better even if it’s at my expense because I know no one will be able to make me feel as bad as I do when my depression kicks in. This is my bonkers therapy and I’m never going to be ashamed of it. Anyways that went into a rant but I just wanted to say Doug that whatever you find makes life better, keep it up and don’t be ashamed to take time for yourself. You always keep me entertained with every fun fact you post and I will always be a supporter of whatever you do. Stay strong and much love.

It’s easy to regret harmful decisions in the past, but they play a crucial role in the people we are today and the only role that regret should have in our lives is to be scared to make decisions that will lead to regret later in life. I am very depressed and my life is in shambles at 34, and I had been binging all kinds of psychology and relationship and self-help videos, and then youtube started recommending your videos. Now I know there is quite some backstory here.

I am very happy for you. I appreciate your videos. I am very sick with a chronic illness that doctors haven’t been able to diagnose or treat. It is very hard to focus or work without having crippling episodes of kaleidoscope vision and pressure similar to migraines. Your “fun facts” give me something interesting to occupy my time without making me think too hard and making my condition flare up. I hope to find a cure soon, but until then, I look forward to more of your videos. Please take care of yourself and know that I am praying for you (John 3:16)

I just wanna give you a big hug, man. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Thank you for the fun facts. I'm glad you got your shit together and feel better these days. We're all walking through this life together, and it's tough. But when we help each other out and lean into our friends, family, community- it's all a lot more tolerable. ❤

Hey Doug, I'm seeing your story 5 months too late, but hope you're doing ok. I hope you're getting the help you need to feel better. I'm just a regular guy who can relate to you at the moment and I'd like to offer you my support if you're ok with it meaning if you want to write or call. Thank you for teaching me, us, so many things. I really like your content and am happy to get to hear more from you. Take care!

2 minutes into this video and I just have to say, thank you for expressing these extremely human and real experiences. We all go through these hardships, one way or another, but we rarely get the opportunity to relate to another’s struggle. Part of the healing that must happen is not feeling guilty or ashamed about your hardships, and hearing you articulate your story seriously helps to alleviate these guilty feelings. Pain is normal, failure is normal, bad decisions are normal, self hatred is possibly the most normal thing of all... It’s hard to remember that sometimes

🙏💝Glad you’re better. Thank you for sharing your story. You have inspired me. I rarely drink alcohol and I never smoke or do drugs but things haven’t been right since 2020. Depression has a hold on me. I thought last year was getting better and boom, I got hit with a horrible year this year. You’ve inspired me to SAVE MYSELF….to do something I’ve been afraid to do that will probably turn things in the right direction for myself. Thank you. 🙏💝
