Even at the start of the series, i didn't hate him. Sure, I didnt particularly like him, and i knew his morals were fucked up. But he had no reason to even change. Theres no reason he should change. Not changing as a person would be far easier for him. He has enough power and the world around him is fucked up too. He is a noble. Theres no such legal authority in that world, no one is gonna question any of his behaviors. He has enough power to misuse that to fulfill any of his desires. But he chooses not to. I think that was the entire reason the world was built like that. To establish change, not coz some legal authority punishes him. But because he simply wants to, even though itd be more challenging for him.

I read the novels twice. While some individual story lines may be weaker then others, there is just not another show like Mushoku. It is a story of an entire life of Rudeus, from beginning to end, and I just love that.

what's funny is that most of the "tropes" in Isekai were created by mushoku back in 2012, everyone else started pumping in "adventurer's guild" as some sort of desirable job or some sh!t when actually in mushoku is a "f*ck I don't have a stable job I have no choice but to put my head on the line for money" So in terms of audience: Best Isekai: Shonen: Frieren (yes it is a shonen) Shoujo: Honzuki no Gekokujou (bookworm, it doesn't have that much action and it's certainly not that "mature") Seinen: Mushoku (Also valid to put Re:Zero in here, but maturity in Mushoku outclasses the gore in Re:zero in terms of being a seinen)

I don't like Rudeus. Not because he is a tad perverted, because 90% of isekai ML is just that and the market is full of ecchi more vulgar, more provocative etc. That's why I don't even understand why people cling to Rudeus so much when they forgive everyone else for it. I don't like him because he's just not my type of hero. But I respect and like the quality of the story, the diversity of the characters, the fact that they go through their own journey (each of them), that they have their own personalities and goals, and that they don't exist just for the sake of ML. I loved Philip, even though he was incredibly flawed, but I liked him for just that. When I watch MT, I don't feel like I'm watching another anime, just that I'm on an interesting journey with interesting characters who sometimes move me, sometimes make me laugh and sometimes annoy me, but it's always interesting with them. But yes, this is not an anime for everyone. If you have trouble distinguishing between fiction and reality, or you think that everything that is shown in the anime is an encouragement for you to behave like this in real life, definitely don't watch. Because in MT, people make serious mistakes and then someone pays the price. This is the charm of this anime.

Well said. I totally understand the reasons for not liking Rudeus. The reason I like him is that he changes as he grows up. He never finished his youth due to becoming a shut in after being bullied. So seeing him finally getting the chance to grow is nice to see. I love how so many characters have such a great and fantastic detail on their lives. One of my favorite characters is Ruijerd. We spent so much time with him in season one thinking he was a monster but it turns out he's just misunderstood. His character is amazing to see change when he was with Rudeus and Eris. I felt joy when I saw him again in season 2 seeing how much he has changed for the better. There's just so much love and thought put into the characters. It kind of inspires me to work on my own writing for this channel. I won't be as good but I hope to achieve some level of creativity. Thanks for watching!!

To be honest, up until now Mushoku is only "better than average" if you take out characters and worldbuilding. The reason Rudy is the soul of Mushoku comes later on. being 100% honest Rudy is in my top 10 most respected characters alongside paul.

This series slowly rivals my Nr1 Pick, Shingeki no Kyojin. The next episode will probably dethrone Vinland Saga from the second spot. It is hard to match them up since they are all different, but this Anime is something special!

The point of art is to express a feeling, a message in a more nuisanced way than you would through a regular conversation. And MT reached the pinnacle of that, for me at least. The message itself is pretty obvious. It's not too late for a second chance, don't hesitate to give someone a second chance, live a life without regrets, blah blah blah I've seen many pieces of fiction tackle it, often pretty well too. When i first watched MT, i wasn't really in a good place. I was definitely not as far gone like rudeus was, but an isolated teenager in lockdown with too much free time and too much internet is not a good mix to say the least. I honestly hated rudeus when i first watched the series, he was so damn weird. I only kept on watching because of the great fantasy escapism. Rudy was such a piece of shit, i know he's trying to become better but he was doing such a bad job at it. Bro spent 13 years in this world and barely changed. But then the final episode of S1 hit. He was at his lowest, with no one to turn to. Just when he thought he finally reached what he had been dreaming of since a teen, he lost it. He was about to let himself go, to go back to his previous state. But he didn't, he looked for something to live for and he found it. His mom. He got back up and pushed forward. He didn't feel good in the least but he did it cuz he had to. This piece of shit man managed to do something ive been struggling with for roughly two years. And it made me cry. I dont think any other story had hit me the way this did. I'm 18 now and I've never been more proud of myself. I've managed to make the last few years some of the best in my life. I don't think I'll credit all this entirely on a Japanese cartoon, but it definitely played a bigger part than i would've thought. I'll be eternally greatful for the writer and the anime staff for bringing this into the world.
