Coming back to this, relistening to Hasan's speech in the beginning was great. Since the election, I've been working on disconnecting from social media and have started watching older, calmer TV shows and have rediscovered my love for drawing and art. There is something out there for everyone! It's beneficial to disconnect sometimes and prioritize your own needs! This stuff is intense!

For California and New York specifically, it’s hard to say if it’s the populace or the Democratic Party that shifted right. The margins tightened not because moderate dems magically voted republican, but they just didn’t vote. The options were far right and center right, and while I personally think it’s misguided, people just didn’t want to vote. In 2022 and 2024 when trump inevitably disproportionately fucks over the exact people who voted for him, they won’t go out to vote then and the margin will grow again

That’s what’s interesting is because at least in some states they absolutely cared about abortion right. For example, in Missouri, they passed legislation to codify abortion access while also voting for trump. So they got their cake and ate it too. With immigration and loss of social security, I think some people just don’t think it will actually happen, which is dumb. Now the problem is also that all Kamala ran on was abortion and “joy”. All the while promising America that she would be exactly like Biden which no body wanted.
