I've been reading a lot of books on Facism lately. I feel like I'm going insane with the number of signs I see that say America is barreling towards it. We are already certainly in the earlier stages. What kills me is that my brother thinks I'm nuts when I try to explain this to him. I get met with "lel you don't even know the definition of Fascism", and then when I try to explain it (and I've litterally said everything she is saying in the video), but it all goes over his head and then he calls me a commie. (I'm a democratic socialist) It just kills me, because these people think they are better informed than us, but they have completely been brain washed by "patriotism". Somehow, wanting actualize the best possible image America can have is seen as un-American. It's fucked.

I think it's not completely implausible. Breathalyzers can produce a false positive that a person who has diabetic ketoacidosis has consumed alcohol. Trumpism (specifically the rhetoric of Trumpism) has similarities with individuals tenets of Fascism but one of the core things that stops Trump being a Fascist is that he doesn’t want to overthrow constitutional democracy because he’s a freeloader who relies on the system to profit. Fascism calls for a total transformation of society from top to bottom and Trump isn’t enough of an ideologue at all for that, he’s an elitist out of himself and his own ego and pretends to care about populist issues to propel himself.

The whole time you should be finding yourself going “oh wow… this sounds familiar” just explaining what fascism and saying trump fits that can be disputed or at least poorly argued because of *somewhat* subjective definitions of fascism. drawing the 1:1 comparisons and laying them out one by one in order can REALLY help people actually realize that comparing trump to hitler isn’t just some bad faith ad hominem but is actually based upon historical evidence. that’s how i received the video
