Also if he died there after being defeated by Farah, The ULF, 141, and maybe Shadow Company, Hadir would've have said he was trying to prepare and protect Urzikstan from the looming threat of Makarov and the Konni Group.

I remember the little briefing about Makarov when Yuri met with Kate. I too thought it was weak, but if that’s how he truly felt why wasn’t he with Barkov in mw19? Makarov as his lieutenant would’ve been good. Truth is they couldn’t make it work they just threw him into the story!

I never entirely understood the hate with Urzikstan other than being in Barkovs unit. Only thing is it seems that he wanted it to look like Urzikstan was responsible for the chemical attack and the plane crash .

I think the issue with the mw3 campaign is that there weren’t any Makorov wins. In the OG MW games Makorov would win a lot of the fights, making him actually more intimidating rather than looking like a fool.

In His Bio explains that he joined the Russian Military at 18. He joined a unsanctioned army to control Urzikstan. But he'd experience his first failure. Making him hate the ULF. He also blames them for the Downfall of the USSR and His Father's Death.

Since Infinity Ward apparently "wants to avoid making the same mistakes again" with MWIV, they need to take this time between now and 2026 to look back at the plot flaws of MWIII and learn/adapt. For example Makarov's motivations for controlling Urzikstan. Show some backstory on Makarov and explain further why Urzikstan means so much to him and the control it once was under from Russia. It's like there's something there but the rushed development kinda forced the decisions we got with the campaign. Like show how close Makarov and Barkov were pre MW 2019, show how he learned about Farah liberating Barkov and his forces since it's clear Makarov through Konni/Inner Circle has connections through his time in the Gulag. I've always been a fan of the actors performances especially with how they work with what they're given, but I genuinely believe a better story was in MWIII but time didn't allow it. So IW Gotta really take their time to flesh things out and give Julian Kostov the tools he needs to get the job done because I believe he can.

Wonder if Makarov was lowkey the guy responsible for the Russian invasion of Urzikstan, with Barkov as his right hand man taking over the occupation of Urzikstan. Maybe Barkov was a member of the Konni Group.

Makarov was just a sloppy copy and paste of Barkov. In my opinion i think maybe it would have been better if Makarov maybe let TF-141 believe Urzikstan was the target but instead it was the US or West Europe, idk. The transition of the story sucked.

@ i mean Makarov had a tendency of pulling Price of target lmao. That flashback scene could’ve foreshadowed his plan. Attacking the stadium to pull security off the airport for a bombing. In the game the attack in the tunnel felt like Makarov was petty and said “fuck it”

*I think writers should be show or tell to us more clearly about Makarov's past in Barkov forces.* Because even in og universe Makarov wasn't for himself from the beginning. He was a Zakaev inforcer some about 15 years, and this how he rised up in ultranationalists party. Yeah, we have Makarov's bio in multiplayer. Its says that Makarov won't repeat Soviet Union's failures. And he seeing exact that failures in loosing Urzikstan in 2019, so this why he want take it back. He don't ever mentioned general Barkov in MW3... Maybe because Makarov no more respect him after he let the Soviet Union failures comes in and became the reason of losing Urzikstan? Yo, this is really unclearly problem. Current writing in crisis right now, so lets pray on they will give us even few answers in MW4 campaign and dont kill Makarov in first mission man...

I actually think Urzikistan is a part of a plan to a much larger plan. Remember Makarov wasent just attacking Urzikistan but he was also attacking Verdansk. First was when his inner circle attack the Verdansk stadium killing a much of civilians, and the later after you save Shepard from Makarovs forces you then return to Verdansk to stop the Konni PMC from blowing up the Verdansk dam which would also cause many thousands of deaths. Oh and forgot that one mission where you play as Kate and you sneak into a Russian base in Verdansk which gets hit by missiles launched from Urzikistan which was a false flag attack by Makarov and his forces. If you also remember Yuri does mention that Makarov was fighting in Barkov forces but we don’t actually know if they met or even if Makarov looked up to Barkov. My guess was that we would see something like that where they meet but didn’t happen so we might see a flash back mission in modern warfare 4. But I think why Makarov is focused on Urzikistan was because he experienced his first defeat in Urzikistan in which he believed in because from the Barkovs army side they were fighting terrorists that wanted to harm Russia he wanted to make russia powerful again because he saw the callopse of the USSR as a embarrassment because his own father hanged himself, so therefore he would have grievances. And in a way he was right because after Barkov and his forces was defeated Al Qatala then invaded Verdansk. Releasing Hadir who was wanted by both United States and Russia and causing havoc in Verdansk with almost Zakhaev launching nukes starting a third would war. And I think once Makarov does take over Urzikistan if he does he would then launch much bigger operations. And I think he was starting to do that by launching a bomb explosion in the London subway where Russia could be blamed and ww3 happens. I think Makarov in mw4 will decide to move on from Urzikistan and will have bigger plans. For example we could see the first mission where Russian Preisdent gets kidnapped. And then Makarov will rise to power and the entire Russian army comes under his command and Russia launches 2 frontal assaults. One against Europe and the other in Urzikistan. This would keep the Taskforce 141 busy. This could also mean we could see entire new characters like delta squad from the original modern warfare. Of course this is my prediction but I could be entirely wrong.

This was another thing I can't stand about modern day call of duty. The use of fictional countries that don't exist really takes you out of the immersion of the story and makes it just feel like some goofy fantasy story. Just my opinion, curious on how you and everyone else feels about that. :)

Call me crazy, but I think Makarov's motives were pretty solid and clear to me. The way the writers excercised it was just disappointing. For a change I would had preferred if Makarov was written to have had attacked western countries in the name of the ULF rather attacking Urzikstan or rather than attacking Russians posing as the ULF. We could had seen the ULF being redesignated as a terrorist organization just like back in MW. However this time around it seems like it is actually serious and the USA is considering possibly launching a full scale attack on Urzikstan. During this Makarov begins to plan for his next move: No Russian, it will play out in a similar manner, however this time, he's posing as Americans and planning to crash a Russian Government plane full of officials who are on board traveling to Kastovia to discuss with Kastovian officials about Makadov's escape from the Gulag, it will be crashed into Zakhaev’s International Airport. This would then initiate WWIII and Russia starts striking European countries. I have more but it be too long.

Mw3 reboot makarov really had potential and looks like he's ready to receive his scars, but the money bags of actvision wasted this character, probably the actor's time and effort playing the part as well...mw3 reboot could have been about Makarov wanting revenge on the U.S and Russia, and starting a world war as he watch as the 2 superpowers destroy each other while he watch it all burn...but no, 2 attacks on verdansk, another attempt that failed, blame game for Urzikstan, and the attack on a underwater tunnel between france and u.k and the result he gets is a stab on the shoulderby soap, killing soap, escaping, WIA, turned into merchandise

What I could’ve rewrote about reboot Makarov was that he was a terrorist from the green sea region. Born as Julian Kostov, an Eurasian kid. Maybe the rise of China. Threatened his region. His country Grozovia in the green sea region is facing crisis and tensions with China. Because although Russia and China fought alongside each other in the global war on terror, it doesn’t mean they’re allies. Russia in this universe is stronger. It’s a reformed Soviet Union with the Baltic states away from Moscow. His father was a big figure in socialist era Grozovia. But when the Soviet Union reformed, it costed its superpower status and the green sea region has become a war zone. Exploited by China and Russia. However when Barkov led the red army forces in the green sea region, he was given an opportunity. He was allowed to govern Grozovia. The Muslim terrors were causing trouble to both Russia and China. Even Barkov led his forces with Makarov being a proxy commander leading the charge. Keeping the green sea region in Soviet control, even after world war 3 ended, Russia and China suspect each other. He wouldn’t be in Urzikstan. Instead in the green sea region. When Barkov was killed by Farah, Kostov was busy dealing with the Chinese proxy rebel groups.

And Kostov was disdained with the death of Barkov, that he would find those responsible for his death. The west wanted to keep the Soviet Union in its lane. China wants to war with the Soviet Union to expand their influence. Kostov was in the middle and have to fight or die. And so formed his terror group. And hope to use terror to scare the Chinese proxies and supporters. The one terrorist attack that occurred was set in Chernarus. A green sea country under Chinese influence. Where they hit a stadium. But that hit was more noise and distraction than anything else. The real target was the airport. New task force 141 members detain him and have Chernarus authorities tried and imprisoned him

The original mw story was a reflection of its time the state of the world and the culture and everyone was making a game in ww3 that was the jig of the time I wish they took that but put a modern twist on it you obviously have me trying to be like black ops for some reason so have it as a super secretive terror organization not makarov although he can be part of the story but an organization in the Middle East trying to force the east and west into a war with each other as punishment for what each side has done to their country could have been a lot better and you could still tie makarov in there not koni that’s just stupid but have him help this group I just think they executed it poorly to scared to do anything but only if they remaster mw3 will I forgive them
