Considering that Autobots were originally designed, by Primus, to be primarily scholars, medical workers, and generally fill more "aristocrat" type roles, while the bots that would become Decepticons were primarily manual labor, slaves, and gladiators, it makes sense that Megatron and the Decepticons would initially wipe the floor with The Primes and the Autobots.

A thing you forgot, in Revenge of the Fallen Megatron had extra weight in his legs as they were bigger and bulkier due to becoming a triple changer and having a tank alt mode. This slowed him down a lot more and it's noticeable when he kicks Optimus. The kick is rather slow and Optimus easily grabs his leg and stops the kick.

I'd always thought that the reason he got weaker in 2 and 3 was tied to his resurrection. His body was dropped into the Marianas Trench after the first movie, exposed to the highest pressures on earth as well as salt water and possibly thermal vents. Salt water is *not* good for metal. Combine that with the fact that another Decepticon had to be killed for spare parts, and Megatron is basically a Frankenstein's monster made of corpses. Jetfire in 2 established that age did affect the Transformers, causing them to rust and slowly fall apart. Megatron in Fallen and Dark of the Moon was basically rotting during those movies. It wasn't just weight distribution. His structural integrity was compromised because he was a walking corpse. Was my interpretation anyway.

I really enjoyed the movies and appreciate you trying to make sense of Michael Bay’s unexplained character design choices. I’d also add that it’s interesting how in the first movie, Megatron refuses to opt for a human vehicle, due to his pride and sticks with his cybertronian jet. Whereas by the third film, he has been reduced to a shell of his former self, ruling the deceptions from the shadows as a veiled truck in the desert.

For his Revenge of the Fallen/Dark of the Moon form, besides what you said about lack of experience in that body my theory is that his actual body was weakened since as we know his second body was made using what was left of his first form in combination with other Decepticon parts. His original body was left in the bottom of the ocean for a couple of years which might of been rusting/wearing down the body, in combination the donated parts that were used to rebuilt him came from a Constructicon (Little One/Scrapmetal) who was likely on the weaker end with how easily/fast the other Constructicons turned on him as well as potentially the other dead 2007 cons that were also at the bottom of the ocean. I think him taking up the shotgun in DOTM was a combination of what you said and due to the fact that he lost his ROTF fusion cannon due to the arm being chopped off, so it was likely both easier and more convenient to build a handheld fire arm over another integrated weapon as well as being better suited for Megatron's preferred fighting style. In general Megatron's body in ROTF/DOTM left him somewhat crippled and the Decepticons were too starved of resources and equipment to properly rebuild him to full capacity, so him being able to get a fresh new body from KSI was a dream opportunity for him.

I also thought the "Optimus was holding back" argument for the first film was sort of valid, but limited. The very fact that he was willing to undergo such a drastic measure to stop Megatron (committing suicide by pushing the Allspark into his own chest), both when planning and in the end of the final battle, shows you how desperate he was. He’s barely in the goddamn movie, I hate how he’s shoved to the side in the last 4 movies. He was genuinely terrifying in the 07 film, he just made you constantly think the Autobots were going to lose. In the later movies he is swapped out for mindless, weak, and sh*tty Megatron. I always thought it was because Sam forced the Allspark into Megatrons core which permanently messed with his entire body since, you know. its basically his heart. On top of that he was left in the bottom of the ocean for a pretty long time and revived down there so the water could have messed up his insides or maybe some sea creatures got in there. Optimus has never been as big or strong as megatron. Megatron has always overpowered Optimus. However, Optimus was faster, more agile, and smarter than megatron. His battle strategy was much better than megatron's, as like you said, he was a brawler. I think that what we see as the series goes on is Optimus consistantly adjusting his battle strategy, and using his speed to outclass megatron. At no point through any of the films did Optimus ever over power megatron except when combined with jetfire. He only out classes/outsmarts him, after taking many hard overpowering blows. Optimus was a scientist and a prime after all. However, his body degradation sure looks like it plays a role after watching your video.

I always thought it was cause after 1, Megatron's body was slowly degrading from then on. In 2, he was dropped into the Marianas trench and rotted away. So he needed pre owned parts, which took getting used to. Megatron lost all his upgrades, his weapons, everything. All the rotting and use of pre owned parts weakened him. And in Dark of the Moon, he's missing half his face. He even has bugs eating away at it, which is a clear reference to the human skin eating condition: gangrene. He had to wear a cloak to hide and protect the open wound, and since he didn't have the allspark he couldn't repair it. So not only does he have rot, barely any original parts, now he has an infection eating away at him. Then in AOE and TLK he was repaired from the ground up. First the transformium enhancement, then Quintessa giving him a more upgraded version of his original body

TF1: Got killed by a human. Would have killed Prime in a 1v1 fight despite being shot at by jets and soldiers. TF2: In the Forest fight Prime was wrecking Megatron, Starscrean and Grindor all by himself until Megatron stabbed him from behind. In their second fight Megatron gets beat again and gets part of his face shot off. TF3: In the final fight Megatron almost kills Sentinel with a suprise attack AND even though he had the advantage against a one armed Optimus, he still lost to him. I'm still mad about that. TF4: Lockdown ruined the highway fight so no clear victor. Personally think Galvatron would've won since there was never a rematch in the film for obvious reasons. Let’s not forget, in TF1, Optimus was fighting in a big city environment, where there were lots of humans around and it was a very enclosed space, meaning he was restricted and had to hold back so he didn’t harm humans. In TF2, it was mainly open spaced combat, so he didn’t have to hold back as much and could go to town on Megatron. In TF3... well, Chicago was pretty much completely destroyed and therefore evacuated, so Optimus didn’t have to worry about harming humans so still didn’t have to hold back. In TF4, he didn’t give a shit. He even purposely harmed humans and killed them. He felt betrayed and that’s why he didn’t have to hold back at all. He even rode Dinobots into Hong Kong.

My favourite design of Megatron is the revenge of the fallen/rotf transformation because it wasn’t like his cybertronion jet form and was a cool looking cybertronion tank that could also fly and I have to admit my least favourite part about him is the way his left arm looks like it’s a scraplets arm and is tiny but out of the designs I like tlk megatrons blaster and how he can retract it and his battle mask is awesome, something we never saw on Megatron before.

Also can Megatron revert his arm back to normal or he's forced to carry that cannon? I don't think he can, he can just recharge it or use the implemented sword. Btw during the Forest Battle when Optimus said "waste of metal" i always thought Optimus knew the fact that was used other metal that was "wasted" for him🤣, maybe that was a common practice used since Cybertron, it would also explain why Optimus didn't seem very surprised about his resurrected brother.

Technically, Megatron was really powerful in TF 1, because he could shrug of an ion blast from Optimus,and still shoot him. He could even take plenty of hits and still not die. But in rotf, be was weaker because he wasn't used to his new body, the bots that fixed him placed an allspark piece into his cavity,which gives Megatron a new body and a different fusion canon. In dark of the moon, he becomes a truck for a reason,he was tired and weakened,and he had a shotgun instead. In aoe, he was at least stronger than his rotf and dotm counterparts,but we still don't get to see what more he is capable of. In tlk,he had and even shorter screentime,but his abilities are stronger as well compare to rotf and dotm. So conclusion,his power level: TF 1: 120/100 Rotf: 70/100 Dotm: 15/100 AOE: 85/100 Tlk: 92/100 This is my opinion,you don't have to agree with me.
