Not really android at the time was still fresh and still has many bugs they developed a much better OS at the time which is the Meego OS which is found at the Nokia N9. It is advanced at the time up to this day. The OS has live multi-task which you can observe when you open the compass and go thru the multi task panel the compass still works even at the multi task panel. Also it is smoother and faster even on IOS at the time. The problem came in when Nokia decided to bet on symbian instead of their newly developed OS.

They can still come back, they've been a trusted brand since the birth of mobile phones. They just need to give people what they want. Invest in a good camera system, opt for Android , sufficient storage space and people will buy the phones

As far as I can remember, Nokia was using pretty much the same OS for years. Nicer graphics, but pretty much the same functionality. And Android was more user friendly, you could set your alarm clock for all week, you could multitask like play music and browse internet, way better games than Java, more user friendly so it was done so quickly and it was the key to Android success. But Nokia really made very unique phones design wise. Now phones are pretty much all the same. They wanted to be unique and went with Windows, while everybody like Samsung, Sony, Huawey, Htc, ect. who were breathing at Nokia's neck went with Android and Nokia lost this war. I wonder why they didn't changed to Android quickly and kept releasing windows phones for some time witch nobody really liked.

My first phone was Nokia 3310 (I think made in Finland) around 160USD. Prepaid simcard those days are very expensive around 30USD, sms and call charges also high. Now I have smartphone about same price as that my first phone with 6/128GB, 3 camera lens, 10in. Simcards now like 1-3USD. Then unlimited sms and calls to all network plus internet data of GB as low as 0.40USD valid for 2 days. 🙃 But this news is heart breaking. I am sorry Nokia, I really loved all the phones I bought from you. There is still one working and using it until now (bought since 2013 abroad). My last Nokia possession. I love that model but hardly can't find it here in my country. We are using it in selling electronic loads. May you find new business in the future. ❤️

When the android phones arived i was sad because my old nokia gizmos are too slow and cant keep up with android but i admit that during the days of symbian os with n series and ngage we are so greatful as for symbian era and the same era of game consoles playing 3d games on your symbian phone is like having a gaming console on your pocket when we are playing games and some good apps on these symbian phones we feel like future has something for nokia But then there it goes the rise of ios and android. the future that us symbian phone users have to forcefully accept ,and adapt to it . I admit that even thought we are using android phones now. I still crave the old days of downloading installing games on symbian also playing music on my old background costomizable ttpod app and creating themes on thememaker app also the accesible files of some games and apps, you can even see the game design characters that the game renders on your screen inside the game files using file explorer Men we just hoped back then that nokia should continue improvements about the old pruduct but yeah the android users skyrocketed and this symbians cannot keep up anymore thats sad

Windows was focusing too much selling windows software-desktop. And windows on on a mobile is free-no money to make on a free windows on a phone. And they never hired expert to develop sistercompany to build good apps or games on their windows mobile platform. They were bunch of old managers on top making good pension and watched the company grew old together-is a damn waste to see a goodcompany like nokia fail. They should invest in crypto while they can make a good brand, windows will never accept crypto. Windows does not pay their customers for rewards-they are like granmas at the counters only selling and taking profits.

Too many reasons at the same time, China by that time was capable to fabricate high end electronics cheaper than anyone else, that allowed the US companies to flood the market with "cheaper" to produce phones, Chinese companies started to produce the technology for mobile carriers also for the new phones, Google started to modify linux to create Android in colaboration with all the Nokia competitors, Sony, LG, Samsung, Motorolla, Google made "easy" for developers to create apps (look how it's works that part now), Nokia they use to produce better phones in terms of software and hardware, but too expensive to produce and no access for external developers, that plus the US internal policies to promote Android and iOS over Nokia.
