Why Did Poppy Change at the End of Chapter 2? | Poppy Playtime Theory

Poppy at the start of chapter 2 was very different from the Poppy we rescue at the end of the chapter.
This has really bugged me ever since I finished chapter 2. The change in personality is so drastic that there must be something going on here.
In this video I attempt to explain the reason why Poppy changes so much during Chapter 2, and the reason might be more complicated than you think!

I think she will be an antihero on this story. She seems angered by the "terrible things that have happened" and wants justice. To "set things right" as she says, she will need someone who is capable. Seems like a complex character that can be manipulative, cold blooded and cunning, but in her mind the ends will justify her means

I've heard someone claiming she wants a human body back, and seeks to lure the player to some machine eventually, and transfer herself back into a human form. And possibly other toys too. It's a bit far fetched lol, but as she said, she has been stuck in that case for so long.

It’s funny, contrary to how everyone seems to react to poppy’s monologue at the end, I never real thought of it as to pointing her to be evil. Morally questionable, yes. Manipulative, yes. But evil, no. She seems to have a legitimate drive to repair the damage done in this factory. We just happen to be the tool she needs

i 100% agree and to add to this while also answering the question from the video: Poppy realizes by the end of chapter 2 how valuable the protagonist is because to save her we were put through the same 3 tests that the orphans had to go thru. ( And we passed with flying colors) I feel like this directly ties into her "personality switch up" at the end there. You can definitely tell she had a change of plans that now included us (the protagonist). I honestly believe she was being sincere when she said "you're gonna have to trust me."

Mentioning the eyes, maybe you have noticed how almost if not every toy that is "murdered " across the hallways with slashes and have their eyes taken, not any eye is left around near the toy corpses, maybe thats a key part that the Prototype is after and Poppy having actual real eyes from our perspective in comparison to the other toys encountered makes her more vital for the prototype's experiment and Popy knows or suspects this, giving her the idea to make the player her ally to ruin his plans but also gain something from both. Maybe what the Prototype is building is not just his own body but a recreation of a human body with parts of flesh stolen from the other toys ( I noticed when the Claw crawled in one of the videos, that the forearm part had real bones to replace metal) And when that presumed body is finished both the prototype and Poppy would fight for it .

I believe that they learned their mistake with Huggy and made his "better half" by not giving Missy full control of her arms, I honestly don't think she'll be able to attack at all. She also seems more aware? She takes time to study the player and decide on whether to help. I agree that she definitely seems like she'd be another employee and not an orphan.

If you ask me, Poppy’s behavior strikes me as “every doll for herself” at the start. She tells the Player to wake up, maybe as a thank you for freeing her, before immediately running off and trying to get out of the factory. When you show up to make things a bit easier for her, she probably decides just before being abducted that maybe she can team up with you to escape after all. Yeah, I kinda have to agree with a few others here: She’s not evil (not that we know of yet), she just realized that there might actually be a chance to take 1006 down for good. If anything, her monotone voice when we rescue her strikes me as remorseful, not wanting to stay and keep you here but also not wanting to pass up the opportunity.

Poppy changed her mind at the end and decided that the both of us can't leave the factory just yet. After learning of how capable we still are in the factory, she saw that there might be hope of helping the toys/orphans/staff after all, so she needs us to complete tasks that will hopefully result in the freedom of everyone in the factory. She's not evil(for now at least), she's just determined to make things right. Only then I think will we be free to go home and HOPEFULLY(I'm wishing with all my might on this one!) we'll take Poppy home with us.

I think poppy changes her tone because she was probably told by mommy long legs that the player will not be able to make it out of her tests to save poppy cause they were rigged from the jump. When the player DOES make it, poppy realizes time is of the essence and cannot afford to be jovial with the player. She can probably sense that exp. 1006 is out on the prowl and that she needs to hurry. It may even have been 1006 or some other character we havent met yet that snatched poppy off the train as she was speaking at the end of the chapter. The fact we crash near the ‘playcare’ indicates to me that we may see an enemy similar to the daycare attendant from fnaf security breach with split personalities and behavior patterns depending on whether the lights are on or off

If you listen to the dialogue at the beginning she says “listen, I need you to trust me.” As if she was about to tell us about not leaving and the train and this and that, but mommy interrupted, though I just think this.

Maybe... though she sounds really dead when she says the lines, asking "did you kill her? Good. I'll board the train now. We must go." It sounds like she's a zombie. She asks if we killed MLL and then says "good" in a dead robotic tone. And why would she say "I'll board the train now" then follow it with "We must go?" Why not just say, "we must go" if she was really insistent we get going? Her saying she'll board the train feels like an unnecessary detail she's slipped in or rather someone else has made her say to sound normal.

I don't think Poppy is evil, even after chapter two's ending. She betrayed us by keeping us there, sure, but she has a pretty good reason. She wants us to stop the horrors that are happening in the factory, and she was probably too scared to just ask because we used to work there. Also, her behavior at the beginning might be explained by the case. We don't know exactly how long she was in there, just that it was a long time. She probably didn't even know what state the factory was in and was discovering some of the true horrors for the first time right along side us. She had some pretty first hand experience on how bad it was when she was taken by Mommy Long Legs, seeing the state of her mind and how violent the toys are. She probably had the full intention of escaping with us like she said at the beginning, but then she realized how bad it was and decided she had to try and stop it, and in her tiny doll body, she can't do it alone. That's my theory anyway, we'll find out more about in chapter three I'm sure but until then, this is what I believe.

For kissy missy I feel like back then she was programmed to be kind and friendly especially around the staff [and children of course]. So I think when Kissy missy saw us, they knew we used to be one of the staffs-

I think the main problem with this theory is that mommy long legs doesn't really show any signs of having different personalities. Her behavior is pretty consistent. And besides that, the file says nothing about conditioning. It just says that the children calm her down. It also says she hates the staff and that she'll attack them if they get too close. And our character used to work at the factory.

I have a theory on when poppy was taken by Mommy Long Legs after we crushed her with the machine poppy was more cold being said that would give us some theory's onto why Poppy got so cold and wanted the protagonist to stay because they were to perfect aditionally adding onto that we see that Poppy was stuck in webs of some sort and the protagonist helps her she seems really different in our perspective Poppy might have been tortured by Mommy because in the end of chapter one Poppy says "Mommy doesn't like guests" it explicitly explains to us she doesn't want us here and another type of theory instead of Poppy being tortured by Mommy she might have been controlled by Mommy and we all know that the toys are actual people and none of them have real eyes but poppy does I think the first person who commented are correct about the prototype taking their eyes and other parts to create itself a body and I think that the prototype is after Poppy next trying to get her eyes but her eyes are real so they are from an actual person so when someone was getting experimented they took the peoples eyes and put them in the toys but they were taken bye that entity called the prototype so yuh

If anything, Mommy Long Legs is displaying sociopathic behavior. She seems to take pleasure with the idea of the protagonist suffering. After all, she does mention if he doesn't get in line she'll eat his organs while he's still alive. The switch described is actually what is called murder eyes. Cat's do this when they focus in on prey, moments before striking. Which means she's dead set on killing the protagonist. But all will be revealed by the end, so I'm not saying he's wrong

There was also something else that make me think that this theory as a bit shaky. 1. Poppy change in personality was before she got kidnap. Saying "You need to trust me" in a monotone voice similar to when you rescue her in the end. 2. Before you enter the room with the big hole, you can hear Poppy humming with an echoing effect as if she was in the vents, but when you open the door, she's in the middle of the room while the echoing humming is still there. What's more she's looking away from you like it's hiding the fact that that Poppy isn't actually humming. 3. Unless I miss it, there was no vent in that room with the hole, despite the fact the Poppy was travelling around using the vents. All this suggest that this is not the real Poppy, but maybe a prototype of Poppy. None of this necessary suggest that the condition theory is wrong, but I think that Poppy's change in personality is because this is not the same Poppy, but possibly be a Poppy that fail to replicate the person that the creator wanted to bring back.

I find it surprising how no one besides Game Theory has noticed that it isn't just soul-play involved in the toymaking process at Playtime Co....these humans have almost definitely had not only their souls but their bodies converted into these toy bodies through some bizarre scientific experiments. I mean, look at what we've seen so far: all over the place there are scrapped toys lying in puddles of blood, for starters. But more tellingly, look at Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs - Huggy has a gaping maw with very-visible saliva - something I'm pretty sure an inorganic body couldn't produce - and when we defeat him and send him hurtling into that deep pit, he smacks his head on a couple of pipes on the way down, leaving bloody marks behind. Then, when we defeat Mommy and she gets dragged into that grinder, we can see that she bleeds as her torso is crushed, and, when you slow the scene down, turn up the brightness and look *very* closely, you can even catch a glimpse of internal organs. Even Poppy herself; in her trailer when her battery is removed, we can see that it's dripping with blood, and her eyes, as Tericho said, look too real; I'm willing to bet that they ARE real. Like, who decides to put capillaries on a doll's eyes??? And I haven't even mentioned all the hidden notes in the first trailer about the experiments having functional digestive systems. No, these aren't just haunted toys. These are actual living and breathing organic creatures, which in a sense makes the game all the more terrifying. Again, I'm just surprised how barely anyone has touched on this.

Here’s my theory personally: in playtime for the ‘toys’ have the consciousness of children (their consciousness were transferred after experiments were done to see who was best fit) and then very traumatic eprermients were done for a very long time, now when you look at it most toys seem to have multiple personalities and depending on the ages these experiments started this could have caused these children to from DID or OSDD which would explain why they all have multiple personalities that can be triggered by multiple things. Example: mommy long legs. With her you can see her personality completely change depending on the person near by and if you check her file you can see she is very friendly and motherly to the children and other experiments but can be VERY hostile to staff and after ‘conditioning’ had happened (I assume putting them through shit till they get their act together) more ‘personalities’ were created. It would make a lot of sense these children became systems with their trauma Because these ORPHANS already had trauma when they came, were consantly under supervision and put through a lot of testing then they were put through the traumatic experience of having their consciousness transferred into toys and then were put through even more that is currently unknown but we can assume it wasn’t pretty. Not to mention after every employee was killed these toys were abandoned for many years where we don’t exactly know what happened. This could have caused more trauma to them and made more alters. This would explain why in chapter 2 poppy was very cheerful and very childlike(could have been a system little) but by the end, after she was kidnapped by mommy long legs and put through a traumatic event, she was very dark and serious which was a complete personality change from who she was at the beginning

So there's been some thoughts going through my head after your playthrough of Poppy Playtime and I'd like to share them. My main issue is who wrote the letter. We've assumed that Poppy must have wrote it, after all the message asks us to "find the flower". But here's my issue. How could Poppy ever be able to write the letter, while in the form of coma/stasis. Not to mention that the language she is using doesn't seem to be that of a child's. Assuming the flower in the message is the drawn flower outside Poppy's room, then the one who wrote this letter was someone who's associated with Poppy in some form or another. Now, I've got 2 guesses. One is that the write is actually Kissy Missy and the other is experiment 1006 . Kissy Missy: We know that Playtime Co. has been experimenting on children, turning them into toys. We also know that the children were given toys to bond with. The stronger the bond, the better their affiliation with the character the toy represents. Thus the more successful the transformation of the children to the toys and the characters they represent. We've assumed that the letter was written by a child, wishing for people to come to the abandoned factory. That's because of the use of ALL capitals and the grammar misteikes. So what if the one who wrote this is Kissy Missy, who is friendly enough and doesn't seem to wish to be an obstacle for the player? She in fact was helpful towards us. And from what we know, she wasn't confined anywhere like Poppy. Not to mention that the message states that the Staff[We] is still in the factory. Why would Poppy call herself a part of the Staff instead of someone who had been working in the factory. Exp.1006: We know that experiment 1006(I will call be calling him Ex6 from now on) is a very brutal experiment. He has killed guards, attacked personnel and is probably responsible for the deaths of many of the toys. He also wants to escape and is extremely intelligent. If he wanted to attract someone, he could probably write a letter. As for the mistakes, I believe they are intentional. We all assumed that it's a child's writing but what if Ex6 did this on purpose to make us, the player, or whomever else believe that the ones that are stuck there are children? We learn from Mammy Long Legs that the player used to be an employee there. We don't know whether or not we were sinister, only that we used to work here. And since your theory of us being toys seems to be correct, we could assume that we are like Mammy Long Legs [An employee that worked with children or was aware of their existence]. Thus seeing an innocent message like this, would make us think that there are children in danger. And that would only lead to us being caught in Ex6's Web. It is either using us to escape or to become stronger or even to defeat some obstacles like Huggy Waggy and MLL. Of course, there is a chance that Ex6 was not expecting us to defeat Huggy Waggy, but instead hoped that we'd die trying to collect our dead bodies. In other words, Ex6 and Kissy Missy were free to roam the facility(and find the necessary tools to write the letter) and do seem to have a goal in mind by reaching Poppy.

I believe it’s her realizing a few things - (1) she’s a really small and ‘normal’ toy, so the things she can do is very limited compared to the others. (2) She saw all the feats the player has done, and because of the first point she doesn’t want to lose her best chance at getting the job done.

I mean the player clearly wanted to get out and plus the only thing they were told to was to just find the flower and that's it nothing more so it was her instinct that told her to just get to the point.

I kind of interpreted the real vs. conditioned personalities as opposite, that the more malicious personalities might be the real/original ones with the friendly personalities being the conditioned ones. My logic behind this is that the real personalities are traumatized and morally eroded while the conditioned ones are the most ideal for the everyday public. This leads the question as to why, and I think it's either for the sake of psychological warfare or simply with the aspiration of the toys being able to help any child they could belong to through any difficult childhood traumas they may be going through (like if a child happens to have a huggy doll but that child has an abusive homelife and the huggy doll's sentience allows it to be more helpful to the child) or warfare in allowing the forms of toys to be soldiers in war and conflict getting into enemy households as toys.

Thank you for pointing out how real her eyes look and how they change. In every video I've watched I always rewind and compare to make sure I wasn't crazy. I also feel like the line in the tapes about how obedient Huggy Wuggy is can relate to how/why he helped with the key in the first game then attacked us later. Maybe Kissy missy is the same way and they both were under orders by something else to 'help' us.

For Mommy, the eyes and her hands change with changing to her "mad and angry" form. When in happy form she has a kind of "normal" fingers But when she turns into her mad form, her fingers become long and strong to catch her "prey" faster and with more strength

Personally, I reckon that Poppy was going to fully explain herself and her plan during the "I'm going to need you to trust me" bit right before she was pulled into the hole, but after being stuck with Mommy Long Legs and fully knowing what's going on in the toy factory, stuff that we as the player haven't fully grasped yet, she becomes desperate and more serious to complete her mission, regardless of what happens to the player or how they feel about it. As for Mommy's personality shift, I watched several other playthroughs of the chapter, and to me it always felt like she was just putting on a fake persona of a friendly happy-go-lucky person whilst occasionally letting little bits of her true self out. The "I'll eat your guts while you're still alive" threat being a little tease of what's to come, and during the statues game she literally says that because the player worked at the factory they deserved to die, and when the player failed to properly end the game the way she wanted it to, you can hear her trying to maintain that persona while also trying not to snap into her real crazy self, which does happen when the player doesn't go back to her and she finally catches up.

Personally I believe that Long Legs doesn’t really have a split personality. Previous interactions with her show that her happy, caring and “Baby talk” voice and persona is an act, this is especially noted after you beat the whack a Wuggy game. She seems to force herself to retain her childish personality to congratulate us and give up the code. This is further supported by the statues game, where it becomes clear that she had no intentions of just giving up the third code, as she begs the player to come back up and in return she would hold up her end of the game. And when she realizes that her motherly nature won’t work on us anymore, she gets angry, but never completely drops the motherly facade when with us, which could be attributed to her conditioning having a permanent effect on her mannerisms. As for her eyes, if you examine more closely you can see that her irises are still green, meaning her eye change is simply due to her pupils dilating. As for Poppy, I think she wants justice of some sort for what happened at the factory all those years ago, and realizing she can’t do it herself, she’s forcing us to do so. Basically an “the ends justify the means” situation.

I went back to look and you’re right. I also noticed that the grading seems a bit off. The kid is rated per “game” on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 seeming to be the highest, based off the first game’s explanation of “very accurate and fast, few mistakes”, but she’s rated a 4 on the third game with nothing but complaints about focus rather than a 2 or 1 where the pen drags off

Here's an interesting question: We opened the case, but who shoved aside that blockage so we could reach the door? And how did Poppy get on the other side of the door? She'd be too small to reach the handle and open it. Clearly Mummy Long Legs DEFINATELY didn't want to help us - so who did it and then disappeared without harming Poppy or us? Poppy was awake so only she would have seen and known - and she said nothing. On a different track: Poppy was produced on a toyline. I don't see an established timeline where Poppy production ceased. There's no way to tell just how many Poppy's could actually still be inside this factory.

About Kissy I feel like one difference between Huggy helping you in Chapter 1 & Kissy helping you in chapter 2 is that Huggy later in the EXACT SAME chapter tries to kill you but Kissy doesn't even though she probably could have in chapter 2. Also Huggy kinda looks like he's trying to hide the fact that he's alive while helping you in chapter 1 while Kissy doesn't try to hide that from you when she helps.

My personal thoughts from a comment on another of your videos go as such: Huggy-Wuggy ONLY got aggressive when you tried to go further into the building, thus attempting to stop you. It's possible that all the toys share the same understanding that Experiment 1006 MUST NOT be let out, and they think (though aren't 100% sure) you're trying to do just that. Kissy-Missy didn't attack because of a single factor (in my opinion anyway) she had a belief that Mommy Long-Legs would be the one to stop you, allowing her to get back to her duty of making sure Experiment 1006 wasn't getting out. Finally Mommy Long-Legs screamed and pleaded with you when she was getting grinded, and said "Don't let me become part of him!" before dying. It's plausible to think that the other toys and the children who didn't survive the process understood the danger of what 1006 was and is. My personal theory is that within the toys there's a permanent struggle going on within them for control; the side that is programmed to stop Experiment 1006 from getting out by any means necessary, the human part of them that just wants to leave (most prevalent in Poppy, so far) and the "battle" when they're freaking out and can't decide which side is in control.

Another thing of note aside from the eyes is most of the toys also alter their appearance in some other way when they turn aggressive, when Huggy turns aggressive, he grows rows of jagged teeth, when MML turns her fingers double in length. Poppy doesn't seem to change in any way other than her eyes but one thing I noticed is in our first encounter, Poppy's eyes look more realistic, however upon rescuing her from MLL's clutches, her eyes appear cleaner and glassier, like an actual doll, this can go one of 2 ways, 1. This is the same Poppy and an alteration to her eyes also means an alteration to her personality, or 2. There really are multiple Poppys and this is not the same one.

i feel like their more aggressive personalities would be their original ones, because similar to the animatronics in sister location, these are people who have been trapped and isolated for years and wouldn’t be able to re-enter society even if they wanted to, but because mob games has already been accused of plagiarism i doubt the end of the game will be like the ending of sister location, and the toys are most likely just trying to kill you as a way of getting revenge on one of employees that trapped them in the dolls to begin with

The ending was actually foreseen from Chapter 1 from the screens, and desperation of Poppy to pop out from the screen dialogues. She shows the bond between you and her. She is trapped in the factory and wanting to escape. But her objectives differ when she somehow knew about the Prototype being unleashed, and wants to know more about the escaped experiment. After all, she was the first official experiment that was successful, as the first living doll. I think she is connected with the Prototype than what we think.

Minitheory: Huggy is a security guard. In the last tape of chapter 2, they say that he is the most obedient experiment. In the first tape in chapter 1, they say that they have lots of surprising security measures. Since Huggy was a successful experiment, just like mommy, he may have gotten a duty in the factory, and it could have been guarding it. Also, huggy has the factory key and the alarms start going off when you see him.

Two things I noticed: 1) Poppy’s bubbly voice and playful demeanor at the beginning of C2 was a noticeable contrast not only to the end of C2, but also the end of C1 after we free her. She sounded more somber and almost in disbelief when she says “you opened my case..” 2) I think there is something different about the history of the toys with human-like eyes vs the toys with eyes like Huggy’s and Kissy’s. For one thing, notice how during gameplay Mommy and Poppy talk but Huggy & Kissy don’t. Just some things I hadn’t heard discussion about and figured at least some other folks had to have picked up on. What do yall think??

Okay, maybe it is just me but when you pause at 5:34 and look at the two versions of Poppy... the left one - the friendly one if you want it that way - has not only different eyes. her dress is also a much lighter blue. The Poppy on the right, after Mommy Long Legs had her little "conversation" with her, has more insense colours in her dress and yes, bigger eyes but i also think her lips don't look the same. If you are able to hear their voices compared to each other you might as well will notice a change there too, just like i did. The Poppy we meet near the end of the game is either another Poppy or Mommy did something to her.

Does Poppy have a more... highly saturated colour palette by the end of the chapter or is the lighting just really different for the comparison images? To me it looks like she has redder hair as well by the end (her dress seems a bit more blue too). The only reason I ask is that I don't know if there are other Poppy dolls out there, but if there are, is it possible that our Poppy got swapped for another, by Mommy or somebody or somebody else, and left there for us? Because that would explain things if it isn't just the lighting making her look more saturated to me. She's a newer doll, so her colours are brighter due to the current lack of wear and tear.

There's some evidence that supports the trigger idea in chapter one because the first tape you find mentioned security measures and huggy didn't turn violent until the player was progressing too far for him to allow. As for cheating as a trigger since mommy long legs was placed in an area designed to test children I could see her becoming upset/angry but the isolation affected her behavior enough to become more of a violent sadist.

She mentions how she would've been trapped back in her case therefore she wouldn't be in a good mood. She's not evil however she's been through a lot. She's making you help save the factory because your character would attempt to leave it. She's not evil however she's sneaky. It's also the same Poppy that's why she knows you in chapter 2.

I know the phrase "better half" is often just a term of endearment, but what if it's literal? What if she is literally the stronger, smarter and faster and overall better version of Huggy and will have a more premeditated and prolonged plan of attack and revenge? It would be very interesting narratively to have the first sentient toy be Huggy and have it come full-circle with Kissy Missy as the last sentient toy before confronting 1006.

its interesting that the toys are conditioned into having more friendly personalities after experiencing some of possibly the worse pain in both physical and mental. But the conditioning wouldn't stay after 10 years, not unless it is consistently done over time; mommy literally said that she hasn't even seen the place up and running for years and that she hasn't seen the children in those same years. She was conditioned to be their mother figure, to help escort them from game to game. Its likely that part of the conditioning she had vanished way before the player arrived, because she wasn't able to be around children thus cracking the company's ideal personality to mix with the anger of the human. It makes me wonder because Huggy was apparently intelligent but also obedient due to conditioning that maybe huggy's response with helping us but also attacking us is that, while he knows the player was once an employee, but we weren't someone who is meant to be in a certain area. Perhaps the employees who learnt about the dark secrets by entering prohibited rooms were met with a grisly fate regardless of willingness to keep silent.

I'm pretty sure it's not that deep. Poppy has been trapped in that case for so long and she knows what has happened in the factory. She wanted to do something about it but she isn't strong. Poppy actually wanted to help us escape considering that she is leading us to the right way... Her motives changed since Poppy saw us beating and outsmarting Mommy Long Legs. (And probably knew that we also beat Huggy). That is a big thing since these live toys are bigger and stronger than us. That's why Poppy chose to not let you escape the factory just yet. She thought that if she wanted things to change, then she's gonna have us, the players, to help her do something about it and of course, she ain't gonna sit things out and let the player do everything. She was also gonna help us but then she disappeared again.

I don't actually think that Poppy's intentions are evil, but I don't think she has the player's best interests at heart either. First off, who is the player? I personally think that they're the unnamed scientist from the videos, he does mention that he'll be back with one breakthrough, and if that's the case, the toys have a lot of reason to dislike the player. At the one room with all of the names over the door, one of them has been removed and scattered on the floor, since the names are company executives, we can assume the unnamed door is the unnamed scientist, which if it's also the player, answers a number of questions. 1. Why was the player lured back to the factory? (Poppy was sealed, so she didn't summon the player). 2. In conjuncture with the above question, why would a random employee matter enough to be summoned back to the factory? 3. Why would a random employee even go back to the factory? (It has to be someone of influence, who has a particular interest in returning there, the scientist states that he'll be back). 4. Why would Poppy need the player's help, even after getting on the train? (The scientist might be able to help change her to a more suitable body, where a random employee could only help her escape). Here is what I personally think may have happened, I'll try my best to lay it out in a rough timeline, note that this is a hypothesis based on pooled information, so I'll be filling in some of the gaps: 1. Stella Greyber joins Playtime Co during the 1940-50s, Elliot Ludwig is impressed by her, they become intimately involved and she gives birth to a daughter (Not my theory, but it makes sense). 2. Daughter is likely killed by a tragic accident in the factory, pushing Ludwig to find a way of bringing her back to life as a toy, and so Poppy is born. (Stella Greyber's video shows Poppy's hand, and her voice actress is the same, implying a connection. But Stella cannot be Poppy because she was still alive after Mommy Long Legs was made, as her voice is on the recording at the Game Station). 3. Even after Poppy was created, Ludwig was still determined to find a way of bringing his daughter back to life, this is when the 'Unnamed Scientist' joins the company (I'm going to just call him Dr. X for now), and showed a lot of merit with his innovative ideas, much of which were questionably ethical in nature (Probably 1970s). 4. Dr. X convinces Ludwig that the methods used to produce Poppy could provide a great benefit to society in the long run, extending human lives indefinitely, Ludwig agrees to work with Dr. X, with the understanding that Ludwig himself is used for the first experiment. 5. Ludwig places Playtime Co in Stella's hands, and undergoes the surgery, where he becomes experiment 1006, the Prototype (Could be Sunni Buddi/Daisy; Daddy Long Legs seems unlikely, as they wouldn't use the Spider theme twice for a main enemy, where Daisy is on Ludwig's desk, and was used in a recycling poster, reusing parts is something the Prototype does, so it could have been foreshadowing). 6. Over time, Ludwig gradually loses his memories and sanity, so they kept him isolated and monitored in the factory. 7. Stella turns out to be less suited for her position than Ludwig had hoped, and is easily influenced by the rest of Paytime Co's executives, granting them more influence in the company, which gradually becomes less and less humane with their experiments and treatment of the staff. 8. Dr. X starts experimenting on orphans, as Stella desires longevity and the notion of living as a toy, she sets her morals aside in favor of 'it's all for the good of humanity'. 9. 1980s, Leith Pierre, a fierce executive who is extremely loyal to his position in the company, takes up the surgery becoming experiment 1170, Huggy Wuggy (Which is why Huggy's hand is shown in the Closing hours video, it's also why he's seen hiding behind a door, he's getting even for all the pranks that were made on him when he was human). 10. Having lost all influence in Playtime Co, Ludwig is disgusted by the fact that his company is now experimenting on orphaned children, with his sanity deteriorating, Ludwig attempts an escape and rallies the other experiments, which start attacking the employees; Huggy Wuggy, who has been a loyal follower of Ludwig for years, willingly complies. 11. Dr. X flees the factory, no one else escapes. 12. A hierarchy is created in the factory, Ludwig's sanity is all but gone, though he sits at the top of the food chain as the Prototype, gradually modifying his body using the parts of broken toys, as he never lost his obsession with creating new things (The bone on his arm could be from Ludwig, the female security guard or a randomly killed employee, but shows how far his sanity has degraded, along with the hatred he now feels towards the direction his company had taken). 13. The Prototype has one final grudge that's on his mind, Dr. X still lives, so he summons Dr. X to Playtime Co, to settle things once and for all. 14. Dr. X decides to return to Playtime Co, perhaps regretting his past misdeeds, but he's also applied modifications to his own body, so he is no longer a normal human either. 15. Dr. X frees Poppy, at first she plans to use him to escape, thinking that he might be able to help her acquire a new body, but later decides that Playtime Co has become too dangerous to leave alone, and that every toy must never be allowed to leave alive, including Dr. X and herself. For a final thought, if Stella was made into a toy, I think the only likely candidate would be Kissy Missy, because as stated earlier, Stella was still alive after Mommy Long Legs was created, and Poppy was created long before her. We also hear Mommy Long Legs say: "Obey the rules, or I'll tear you apart, and eat your insides while you're still alive"; note the use of the words 'tear you apart' and 'insides'. There are a number of ways the devs could have written this, but since it's assumed that the player might actually be a toy, 'insides' could also mean 'organic parts'.

Like it's her first time using her arm like that and she has to learn how to do it. Meanwhile Huggy Wuggy grabbed the key quickly and effortlessly. Just the way she moves seems very important especially when the scene is designed for us to focus on her hand fumbling with the switch. She also moves like she's slowly comprehending that the switch will likely help us. Again, it's setup for us to look at her head first and notice her clearly thinking about how she can help us. It's slow but it's more learning than calculated.

I wonder if it's not that Poppys second personality came through, but more that she realised she can't ask you nicely. She was going to have you trust her as she did something important, and we were going to go on the train anyway. I think after Mommy Long Legs, Poppy realised she can't play nice. That she'll have to just get you to do what she wants, as 'you're too perfect to lose.' This was her plan the entire time, we were never going to leave, but she will manipulate us into doing what she wants. Is she a villain, I don't think so. I can see her being an anti-hero, one who has to do the dark things to help solve the mystery. But, she could fall into villainy, and that is always an interesting thing

I kinda think that one of the reasons why Kissy Missy didn’t have the strength in her arms like Huggy Wuggy did is because, well, she is Kissy Missy. Her capabilities, unlike Huggy, does not have to do with her arms. I think their abilities are in their names. Huggy Wuggy probably has arm strength because he is Huggy Wuggy “he’ll hug you until you pop” lol. I honestly don’t know, but that’s what made sense to me on why Kissy probably could not get the lever on the first try. That’s just not how she was built. So if her name his Kissy, then maybe what she can do has to do with the mouth, similar to Huggy. But then if she’s supposed to be all kissy, lol, then she probably doesn’t have a mouth full of teeth like Huggy Huggy. If she interacted with the kids, then she probably would scare the kids if she had a mouth like that. Maybe more similar to the tiny Huggies. I kinda think she’ll be a good guy due to those things I think. It may be likely that she doesn’t have the qualities of a killing machine like Huggy and that she is on the nice side. But then again, there is that double personality thing, so I may be wrong.

It's also possible Kissy isn't strong because she's in docile mode. Huggy was strong when he went aggressive. I think a part of Poppy's shift is that she has decided to use us. At the start she isn't aware of how, in her words, Perfect and Capable we are. At the end, she's decided to betray us, and that probably doesn't line up with her friendly side.

I think poppy’s whole cute sweet personality was an act so we would let our guard down. I have a theory..hear me out... Poppy was killed and ended up being replaced with the other that is more obedient and useful to mommy to ensure we either don't escape or die... The train poppy (in my opinion) seems like she is a different one, Maybe mommy set up a new one in the web where she gives u the code to make sure we do not leave. I also believe prototype 1006 is Elliot Ludwig... He has the intelligence Elliot would have as he is smarter and seems to know where places are as he is at the right location at the right time when mommy is killed and would know the powers of each experiment and I believe he knew how to escape as he made the plans. I also believe he has been following us around the game, in a letter a little girl was reported staring at something which made her get a bad grade in the statues minigame and that thing was experiment 1006 which ended up killing the scientists to maybe ensure that they don't tell anyone what she was staring at. Anyway, this is just my theories but we will see what happens.

I've been a fan of these theories for a while now, so I'd like to point out some stuff. They used the "subjects" actual organs (example, heart and brain) to make the toys for a more realistic feel. Therefore the subjects consciousness is the same in the toys. They get brainwashed beforehand, but the bipolarity in some of the toys could be the brainwashing wearing off, and the subjects realising what they got themselves into, therefore the cause. The theory of this applying to Poppy is, in fact, understandable, but there's a hole in the theory. In chapter one, we were introduced to an employee named Stella Graybur in a tape. We see her name on one of the slides. She is Poppy's subject, and I assume this because in the VSH tape she even talks about returning to childhood and wanted it to last forever. What better way to do that than become a walking, talking doll that the children play with? But, she _was_ describing her desire to become a child once again, which means she actively wanted to be a subject. BUT I have another idea for this. Poppy was probably traumatized before we came along, by experiment 1006 going on a massacre. She only needs us to do what she wants to prevent 1006 to kill ever again, we killed Mommy Long Legs, after all. At first, she acted cheerful and tried to get us out, then finding that we could survive and can destroy the other experiments, realizing this could be stopped altogether, so she prevents us from leaving because she WANTS us to stop 1006. She only sounds monotone and sinister because of the traumatic memories flooding back to her. I'm not sure if this is canon, but it is a possibility. But I honestly don't know who came first, 1006 or Poppy, but if 1006 came first, it could be a realization that this was wrong, but with the same intentions to get us out and the realization in the end. It looks more likely that both Poppy and Mommy do have real eyes, since they dilate. They've also probably gone through conditioning but both of their pupils get wide in dark surroundings- as real eyes do to gather more light. Compare it to Huggy and Missy- who eyes are doll-like and thus never dilate. People's eyes will also naturally dilate when they are under stress, which explains why Mommy and Poppy's eyes change according to their emotion. Huggy on the other hand, stays constant between his passive and guard mode. Also, I think it's very possible that rather than an uncontrolled personality shift, the change is deliberate. Poppy puts up a demure act to get us to trust her, but after we have shown not only a capability but a willingness to kill to get what we want she decides that there is no need to play pretend. We are both well aware of just how far the player will go- so might as well stop acting innocent now. Mommy does effectively the same thing, talking down to us like we were a child. However, we prove to be too resistant and she also decided that if we aren't going to 'play nice' then neither will she.

By the way, Now that I'm commenting, I'd like to inform those who don't know yet that the figure for the player is just a faceless yellow mannequin. This means that the protagonist can be whoever or whatever we want them to be eg. A man , a woman or even a toy like one of your theories, that last one(your theory that the protag is a toy) can now be confirmed because the protagonist is whoever or whatever we want. So I choose that the protag is the Drifter from Willy's Wonderland who used to work at Playtime Co. and can't be bothered to fight back against the monsters because he either doesn't feel like it or he's out of Punch Pop soda. It would be pretty cool if the Poppy Playtime movie is a sequel to Willy's Wonderland and the Drifter or Janitor as he's actually called is the protag. This could work because his past and future and Identity is also whatever we want, just like the protagonist in Poppy Playtime. Wow, I talk like a book, don't I?

Hi, I really enjoyed the video. My opinion is that there are two identities in each doll. One is the souls of humans used for experiments and the other is the identity that the factory has placed on the dolls. For example, when mommy long leg starts counting, we notice two different types of tones, one is the voice of the person being tested and one is the voice intended for mom. It is possible that part of the person's personality is trying to express itself in the form of anger because of the experiments that have been done on the method, but the identity programmed on the mommy long leg is trying to prevent it. And I think the only thing that is different is the 1006 test. I feel that this test was not a single human being, but a combination of several human beings. And completely in the form of a wild animal with intelligence we may encounter beyond man. My only question is what is the reason for collecting other doll parts because it does not seem to have a problem in terms of physical strength. sorry if it was long.

Theory: since it seemed that the workers/orphan that took part in Mommy, Huggy, and even possibly Poppy, they had to use another person, who’s calm, to sort of restrain the more hostile ones. Kissy was already out with a calmer person, so she didn’t need anyone.

This is my theory: What if, they are trying to keep you there to swap places? As in, the dolls are just souls trapped in a doll body, and they only way for them to be human again is to transfer bodies with someone else. It’s maybe why Mommy Long Legs kidnapped Poppy to try and keep her away from you so she can escape herself, and maybe why all the dolls are trying to attack you or the protagonist. It is because they want to have the feeling of being alive again. Also, you can see Mommy Long Legs fingers growing as she gets more angry or aggressive. I dunno I just want to point that out 🤷

Wild theory here, but remember when mommy was getting grinded she said “you make me part of him” that’s because the arm that took her head was the “him” when you use mods to fly you can see the arm better and there is a human bone on it, if we go to the water control thing at the bunzo factory we can see huggy wuggy’s hair and blood and i think that huggy was pulled by that same arm so the arm is rebuilding it self with the other monsters.

Hey, what if the most recent dolls have the consciousness of 2 people inside them, that may explain the dual personality, one person is a playful kid and the other is an aggressive adult. Maybe both the consciousnesses try to take control, so they can take control one by one, as first when we met poppy, the kid was in control, later the adult seems to gain control, etc.

It is clear Poppy wants to be human again and get out. If this happened to me I would want to end it all. So getting attacked just made that worse. Kissy might have helped us because of Poppy. The two sides were present when we did something good and wrong in the eyes of the dolls. Huggy Good - walking around doing nothing. Bad - when we wanted to go deeper in the factory. Mommy good - play the games. Bad - when we broke the rules of the game. What if we are the mystery tube staff member. Brain washing is going on so who is to say we got brain washed and sent away. Having a letter to bring us back may have started us on a journey to remember the place 100% and not the smoke screen. Mommy spoke to us at the end like she thought we knew what she was on about. The place looks run down because it has been shut down for years with only the dolls looking after it.

My look on the Huggy Wuggy switch is that as we were told in the very first tape we were told that the factory had “more tame” security measures, those being the local law enforcement. The other one can be assumed as Huggy. I think it is a part of his programming/servos is to be a stronger security measure, hence the reason he is at the front entrance, it may be his post. He may have helped us at the start to give us a false sense of security and to sus out how far we were willing to go with this, would we stay where we were or would we continue further into the factory? Just my brain, not really that set on it but it definitely had me thinking 😅

Hm, Poppy’s little tone shift was one of the things that I was wondering about the most after Chapter 2 and while her having a Dual Personality was something that did cross my mind as well, However, that all the other toys has Dual Personalities as well? Can we really safely assume that? Actually, the whole “playful and innocent to straight up sinister Dual Personalities” thing, the way you describe it didn’t make the idea of it entirely clear to me, so could you perhaps elaborate on what you meant by it, by any chance?
