how about they just make the game more casual? the thing is, pros are always, *always* gonna find a new way to abuse the game, break the balance, flip it on it's head and make it insane. there's no way around it, that's what makes a pro. so why not just balance for the casuals and see what they can come up with? sure you can make minor adjustments to make the meta a bit less stale for them, but honestly if the game's fun, people are more likely to give Riot money to support them, or just cause they want a cool skin for the game they love playing the most.

Aurelion Sol is basically being Aatrox-d right now. Riot nerfed his numbers, then they removed and nerfed some of the core items that he used to rely on, and they buffed everyone else that became weak from those item nerfs except him. And next patch, Riot is gonna nerf Evefrost too while giving him no compensations buffs whatsoever. It's such a pain to be an Aurelion Sol main right now :(

she has virtually no counterplay options available when picked into her strong matchups and her lockdown bypasses every single tool in the game making her a more powerful malphite in every concievable way, in the highest tiers of coordination she's used as a fiora like character with a malphite/nautilus "faker shutdown" style of targeted assassination, but unlike malphite who can be flashed, avoided, or just stunned out of range, she cannot be stopped, at all. as a rule of thumb if your comp relies on a single point of large damage like a huge adc she basically will ruin the game for you, but she's also terrible as hell into a team full of heavy hitters, so she's like the giga ultimate expression of rock paper scissors, theres almost no room for playing her to perfection in a bad matchup against pros, and theres almost no room to stop her from hitting her win con if your team is built wrong. It fucking sucks and i hate it. riot has so many champions now that just win if your team is not picked right. forget item choices, gameplay choices, or rune choices or anything done AFTER the point of hitting lock on the champion selection.. it makes no fucking sense.

If she uses her ult and you flash into your team in pro play it's often enough for your team to instantly lock and burst her down before she can do anything. Camille isn't a very strong teamfight champion, hence why she isn't picked often in pro play (right now gnar/sion/renekton are far more popular pick/bans.

Secondly, flash moves you 425 units. if you are close enough to your team to flash to safety before a camille ult hits you then you were never going to be ulted to begin with, i think you woefully misunderstand how she works at high tier. i advise you look up the stats and some footage of her being played for yourself to see why she has the 9th highest presence overall, the third highest presence top, and the SINGLE. LARGEST. BAN AMOUNT IN ALL TOP LANERS. she is currently the #1 banned top laner, and the #3 presence top laner, i feel like you're just ignoring data at this point but generally speaking she can survive her contemporaries in lane and becomes an impossible to shut down one button delete for out of posistion champions, we can define delete as trapping enemy champion in a location they will be killed with out ability to get assistance from team by the time ult wears off. she does not do a whole heck of a lot of damage and she's not dominant as a champion, but she does have a one two combo that is basically malphites ult, but better, on the body of a proper bruiser with high output gol.gg/champion/list/season-S11/split-ALL/tournament-ALL/ as somone who has to keep her nearly permanently banned in master solo q when i play any assassins i am painfully familiar with her ability to remove any given champion, especially those with excessive mobility like assassins from the game, no matter how far ahead they are. You basically cannot play akali or zed or kat with her on the enemy team at a high coordination level, skill is a bit agnostic here, but if theres followup on her ult, you're dead, it doesnt matter if you're 25-5, you're dead.

Everything about Singed is counted to how the game is normally played. Most times not only do the opponents hate you but your team also hates you. You have to play around Singed to win and even if you do you can easily lose the game due to the complex nature of the way he plays.

I think that's not the point. Look at Akali, she is a money printing K/DA waifu for riot, but got so often and hard nerfed. I think it's the difficult between these 2 champs. Akali needs insane practice and skill to make her work (winning the game), but Kai'sa is "noob"-friendly. Even when you are ahead you can get punished hard and lose the game as Akali, when the enemies are not completely brainafk, but as Kai'sa it's insane easy to clutch the enemies in a second even from behind. The kit of both champs is... well, overloaded, but Kai'sa is next level. "movementspeed, invis, attackspeed, extra dmg procc, long range snipe, shield/dash/gap closer, shredd single/AoE, AD/AP viable" and more as an ADC. She doesn't needs to dive in meleerange like the most assassins, she can use 90% of her kit from the backline OR decided when to dive in the backline to oneshot them. I can only speak for myself. As an Akali main I give a f*** about Akali nerfs, when you are good with her you destroy your enemies for the most time anyway, but I know from some of my friends (Kai'sa mains) they would not play her anymore when riot nerfs her to the "ground", they want these "ez pz wins without really hard work".

@@NeverKilledHillock Just note my opinion is going to try to be based on objectivity, but I've also not checked this info in a while, so I could just plain be wrong. Covering my bases. Personally, I feel that the reason that Akali takes the nerf bat compared to kai'sa comes from both of their quantity of mains and ease of access. Say what you will about Akali, but she is a lot harder than most champions and is a great deal more challenging than Kai'sa. Because of this, she has a small playerbase that will stick with her through thick and thin even if she gets nerfed. Generally speaking, Riot can rely on them to buy the skins for their champion because it is their one-trick. As for Kai'sa, she is pretty accessible and has one of, if not THE highest play rate in the game with an impressive win rate when you put that into consideration. This means that her playerbase is more likely to use her for power and ease, flavor of the monthers, if you will (this isn't all Kai'sa players, but a large portion being this would explain her insane play rate). This makes me feel that Riot is less willing to nerf Kai'sa just because of the loyalty of her playerbase compared to Akali. Nerf = Less Skins for Kaisa, but not necessarily for Akali.

What struck me as particularly interesting about the mention of Kai'sa was if you ask LS he'd also be baffled why she has an 80% presence, because he is also aware that she has very serious counter match ups and pros just appear to be refusing to play them into her. Sometimes the pro scene is influenced by more than just "what is good/strong", it becomes more about what the players get comfortable with and then they end up being stubborn over it.

It is funny, the constant balance changes and item buff and nerfs make this, when the system keeps changing it is easier for the pros to play the same champion (one that you already master) and adjust to the changes to keep a semblance of stability, the same logic as one tricking to climb, if the patches were longer, people will have time to learn and adapt to counter strategies (I think doublelift said something similar once) Also LS said, numbers are not what makes a champion strong it’s the abilities, kaisa it’s used solely because she can dive with her team, even when you handle her in lane, when hecarim dives she will follow

On the auto-fill thing: if there is a shortage in certain roles though, increasing the number of players doesnt do anything. You will still be short that same percentage of supports, junglers or top-laners (whatever role sucks the most at the moment). More players does not automatically mean you can get rid of auto-fill.

while you're right, i dont even play ranked soley because autofill jg is the bane of my existance, i dont like any of the jg champs that are viable my fav jungles suck dick in solo q (lilia is at the top of that list..) and out of my last 150 games nearly all of them have had a jg who was flagged as being autofilled, i.e. jg making up less than 20% of their games and them having insanely bad metrics on them. This is usually true for the enemy team too but it creates essentially an offrole v offrole ecosystem for the most impactful role in the entire fucking game. ranked is a shitshow with it on and i'd rather a 10 or 15 minute que or even more if i got good match fidelity. when i play dota i get nearly perfect MMR matchups despite being in the top 1% of players on a game with a much smaller playerbase. riot's matchmaking is bloated and severely flawed and autofill doesn't help games, it hurts them. the core fix is to make jungle less irritating to play while also making it less demanding and less impactful and the simple way is by increasing vision options to non support laners but whatever, i still would rather wait an hour for a match with out an autoifll jg than play another fucking godamn instant lock yi.

@@RustingPeace Your bounty gets reduced the more you die, this minimizes the effect that feeders have in the game, and for Inting Sion, it doesn't even matter because if there's no one in the top lane at all times to at least try to defend the turrets, their base just dies, so the top laner can't even use their gold and gets diminishing returns from killing Sion. And can't afford to die to reset the bounty unless, again, they want their base dead. That's one of the many reasons Inting Sion worked so well. I personally played against it after it was nerfed, and... It still was just as awful to play against.

When it comes to autofill, i believe that good solution would be making it so you won't ever be given random autofill, but taking it willingly would result in a reward. It could be just straight up +2 LP (for example if you win you get 22 instead of 20 and if you lose -18 instead of -20), or something along the lines "every 4th win in auto fill have +50% LP", or "5 autofill games = hextech chest"

*I play toplane. I play either Darius or Lillia. The difference is fucking night and day.* I love Lillia, I play good with Lillia. I always win lane, I always roam, I always farm well. With Lillia I have to consistently land my Qs while consistently keeping out of enemy range and consistently dodge skillshots while managing my mana and CDs (yes, you can run out of mana on Lillia if you're playing aggro). One mistake and I'll lose 40% of my healthbar at best and flatout die at worst, and if I don't die I stay with my lost health because I don't usually have healing. I also rotate to most if not all lanes every game and help on dragons before TPing back. If I'm fed these conditions don't change, only the numbers. Now if I make a mistake I'll lose 30% of my health and I can kill in a couple less Qs, some squishies may die after one Q-Q-R-W. If I'm behind I'm an R button hoping for my team to carry me. I can push waves but have to be present in most if not all teamfights because I can't reliably take towers nor epic monsters and I can't fight more than 3 people at any given time. It's very easy for the enemy to fuck up against Lillia, but if they do they only take 20% extra damage, the trick is to make sure that's exactlly what you need to kill. I have a 47% winrate on Lillia. I like Darius, I am decent with Darius. I usually win lane by managing the wave and running people down with ghost. After that I push, take tower and rotate. With Darius I have to dodge or tank enough to get 5 stacks and after that I've already won, I also have to land my E against ranged until I get stridebreaker. If I'm fed you either outrange me or you just flatout die. If I'm behind I can still pull an outplay on a 1v1, but it's difficult. I can splitpush and 1v2 reliably and if I play well enough I can literally 1v5 because I've done it before, allowing my team to take other objectives. It's really easy to fuck up against Darius, fucking up against Darius is suicide. I have a 63% winrate on Darius. With Lillia I need to outplay constantly and consistently to win, with Darius I need to reach and either land Q or dodge. Fun fact, I think playing Lillia has actually made me better at Darius, but when I play Lillia pulling off the 1v1 at lvl 4 feels like Darius feels when you're 1v2ing and suddenly the enemy midlaner appears and you need to pull off that outplay to survive. And I play him like I play Lillia when that happens. I consistently land my Q and go in and out while keeping my passive stacked and dodging everything I can. I've been against a Lillia as Darius only once, btw, and I absolutely demolished her. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. Grab a tissue while you leave.

Sound like me with kai’sa and jhin. Everyone in the comments complaining about kai’sa. I’ve got a 54% winrate on kai’sa for jhin. I just kinda play him and don’t think about it. My winrate on jhin move around from 65-75% winrate based on if I’m rage queueing or not. If anything jhin should be what people are complaining about. His kits not overloaded but he scales so well that if the game lasts long enough you can just carry. Every time I play kai’sa I win lane and then get targeted and one tapped all game. Invis on e does nothing when you have 1300 hp and can’t attack when ur invis. The gap closer with shield is good but the shield really does nothing. It might as well just be a really big gap closer. Her “long range snipe” is only good with ap or unless they have 3-4 stacks of passive. Ur q is ur bread and butter. Does damage and it’s good wave clear. To use it right you need good positioning and or a good support. This doesn’t make kai’sa good it makes either you bad for getting out of position or the enemy kai’sa really good. Don’t be stupid when you play against a kai’sa. Unlike jhin who can still hit you with q w and get a speedboost as kai’sa you have to play around your cds and position. It’s not as brainless as you think. Now my main jhin. Boy he’s brainless. Just auto your way to win.

I've played Lilia only after her nerfs and it really doesn't feel weak. I understand the bad win rate is more relevant than my experience, but she is definitely viable to play. But obviously people don't want to play as a team, they want to be able to power farm faster than everyone, while also being able to 1v1 the enemy jungler, win mid 2v2, be fast, an assassin killing carries and a beast in team fights. Open mic just allows for faster communication in game, maybe you will still get flamed and have to mute then but I highly doubt the amount of people flaming will increase, especially since you can now hear their squeaky voice as they do it. The expectation shouldnt be to have to mute everyone every game, but instead that it is always an option if you get too frustrated, and it's not like the old methods of communication will be removed.

Lillia is OP and if you dont do well on her youre just shit. She isnt some champ that makes you very dependent on your team. I really think shes a bad example because you farm better than everyone, you can skirmish fine and youre insane in teamfights. Because of her high movement speed you dont get alot of counterplay. Winrate is affected by other things too btw. Samira has a higher winrate now than when she was really OP, this is because shes played less and actually in spots where she is good. If youre gonna play lillia every game and get counterpicked so you get shit on, that doesnt make the champ bad. Winrate really doesnt say much at all. Most people have called kalista the worst chaml in the game for a while but shes just simply not. If you actually pick it against ezreal for example and you arent bad its really strong. Just dont expect your onetrick to always be good

I really wish Riot was willing to hear the community's ideas to improve the game. At this point they are doing whatever gives them the most money, which can be seen reflected in things like the designs of new champs in recent years. Not only are they giving priority to characters with more complicated kits to make them appear to have more depth or with more generic designs, which a large part of the community does not like (the like/dislike ratio in the most recent trailers shows how tired some people are over the saturation of anime-like designs), but at this point, it seems that this will be their marketing strategy permanently. @@romank9611 the only reason was that the overall dive damage wasn't so directed or lessened for ADC in s10 allowing more variaty to thrive. High burst and assassin OHK metas narrow viable champ pools. There are more viable Champs now simply due to immortal and gale. If they get nerfed too far the adc meta will snap to xayah, kai'sa, samira with a dash of MF. Simply cause the first three have a save me button, and MF ult is too good.

If the competitive looks like shit just because they don’t want to balance around them you’d see the rest of league slowly die off. Exact issue happened in Fortnite. They balanced around the casual so competitive started to feel like shit, now Fortnite is much smaller than it’s been.

My school has an esports team and after joining and playing some matches with the team I realized how different communication makes a game. Our school is realy big so we had alot of options for players so in the league we have some of if not the most mechanical players but what we have found is that we either crush a team during the laning phase or we slowly get drained by a team that is communicating way better than us. Currently we have 3 wins 2 draws and 0 losses but those 2 draws are games against people that, as far as mechanics, are worse than us. PlayVS (the system used for esports) does a best of 2 for some awful reason so that's how you get draws. Voice coms and team chemistry make such a huge difference in the game. Playing on an esports team vs other teams is a completely different experience compared to solo queue.

Proplay should have a separate balance imo. They are big bois, they handle two different systems. Although proplay balance should be limited to chamption stats, ability cd, ability base stat and ratios.

although I agree with you I know this won't ever work in reality, pro players still use the live patches to practice in soloQ and they also play scrims on the live patches I believe (correct me if I'm wrong on this one) so even if they balance the game that will be played on stage the pros would have a difficulty adapting to the balance changes on stage. Maybe it could work if the pro players could scrim on a different server where the balance changes are the same with the stage games, but I don't think Riot would implement this since the pro play meta is still a great indication for most soloQ players on what is good and what is bad.

Funny story to your point about vision: there is a German KZbinr called Handofblood, who once had a Video format called "Bronze Bravery". He would play ranked in Bronze V (that was before iron), but his summoner spells and the items he had to buy were randomized, and he was not allowed to place wards. One time he said this: "It is kind of interesting to play with no vision whatsoever. I'm not allowed to place wards, and my teammates won't place some anyway." And before anyone says that this is just trolling: yes, it technically is, but if you play Graves ADC with Smite and Barrier, only buy AP and Tank Items to the point where your W does more damage then your Q, yet you still win the game and are the best performing player in your team, I doubt that you are the problem

Coming from somebody that saw pro play in modern warfare: Things tend to be banned for 3 reasons: 1. They introduce way too much randomness to the game and thus lower the skill ceiling. 2. Things are comparably good to other guns but they're low skill, lowering the skill ceiling, noobtubes and shotguns are a good examples. 3. Things creating a snowball effect, example is killstreaks. Basically once one team gets a streak going, they can cause the game to snowball and they other team can't come back with how the game works and the other team being unable to get their own killstreaks. This also adds randomness with certain killstreaks like care packages. Say somebody got a 4 killstreak and gets a 15 ks reward? Suddenly a C tier team beats an S tier team and you can bet the better team will be pissed as feek. A lot of it isn't necessarily what's fun to watch, but what the competitive community has decided on, and that's usually that skill ceiling should be as high as possible and that randomness should be minimized.

As someone who plays and watches competitive Super Smash Bros, the idea of a competitive community restricting what elements of the game are illegal in competitive play is something that I’ve seen and agreed with for years. Competitive smash players all agree to only play on a small percentage of the stages available in the game while outlawing items altogether, and no one in that scene disagrees with those rules. Occasionally a gaming journalist outside of the community will write a piece on how the smash community removes fun from the game, but within the community those rules are all readily agreed upon, regardless of which smash game you’re even playing. I never thought about how crazy such a ruleset would be in a game like league or Call of Duty. It’s fascinating to me how different each community is and how what may be a norm in one community would be completely unthinkable in another one.
