Isn't it possible that Girardi , and possibly other managers are let go for reasons that have nothing to do with baseball ? When he was here he handled the bullpen better than anyone in baseball, certainly Boone. That wildcard game against Minnesota where Severino shit the bed probably would have been lost with any other manager. Girardi thought Sanchez wasn't an MLB catcher. He was right. He didn't like Refsnyder. Right again. I don't think his baseball decisions go him canned. So why was he let go ? First of all, he was at the end of his contract so its not as if he was fired. I think his health was declining. He looked and sounded like a nervous wreck. He himself didn't seem enthusiastic about continuing. Perhaps Cashman thought Girardi was out of gas and didn't want to make another multi year commitment to him.

Girardi in ‘08 took over a veteran team who didn’t necessarily need a taskmaster at the helm. But one by one those guys retired, left or were traded and a younger crop of players arrived, led by Judge, Austin, Bird and Severino. Maybe the younger guys needed a manager who was more encouraging. Also, ten years with one championship in the Bronx wasn’t enough to keep his job. Boone will know this if he doesn’t win this year.

I don't understand what Don is talking about because Girardi won but I will always maintain the Yankees won in spite of him not because of him. Boone hasn't won but players love playing for him because he's softer than Girardi? Practically all of the players on this team have only known Boone as Manager. I also feel if the Yankees win it will be in spite of Boone not because of him. There are very few coaches or managers you can say that team won because the Manager or Head coach made great moves that helped them win. Thibs hasn't won but he's shown this season he can be a coach that his team wins because of him not in spite of him. If the Knicks stay healthy next year they can keep the same players and go to the NBA Finals.

Reality is Joe Girardi has a very bad history of being incredibly difficult to get along with. He had difficulties in every other job with ownership.

But he won. And the players played for him. With Aaron Boone there's communication issues, questioning as to whether he's really managing the team. Hopefully that changes this year.

@@TRivera13 He got a ring in 2009 with a stacked squad. He also missed the playoffs numerous times and did a mediocre job elsewhere feuding with owners and getting canned..

@@dbreiden83080 So when he won it's because the squad was stacked. But when he lost it's his fault? I wasn't the biggest Girardi fan either, he went to that binder too much sometimes. But the bottom line is under Girardi you never questioned the effort of the team. Under Boone it's happened too many times and sometimes it's as if Boone isn't the one managing.
