With the amount of work that the Casa needs, you two have managed to keep a positive attitude and smiling faces, when others would not. It's understandable that you're questioning the decision to move ahead with this reno. I know it's hard to imagine, but the feeling of achieving this behemoth task will be it's own reward in the long run. OK, pep talk over! Keep your chins up, you two!

The age of you both is an ASSET. Maturity brings mental discipline, honest awareness, focus on a worthy goal, you know what I'm talking about. The reason this project will be accomplished is you two. Just like all the others commenting, i am so proud of you both and its a joy to watch the progress. If you really need a break for a few days, go away together to rest and restore. I can relate to everything you are feeling. 4 years into living in Florida, a microburst tornado broke two huge limbs from our liveoak tree and felled them into our home. 1/2 out house suddenly opened to the elements. Contractors from hell. A rental. Furniture in storage 9 months of questionable renovations and redos. Result…a newer, bigger, brighter kitchen and shower. New siding, new roof, paint, floors appliances. In our mid 60’s we survived. Now…..building a new home from the ground up…in our 70’s. You can do it. You are doing it. God bless! Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I forgot how bad it was the overwhelming condition of the house when you first took over. The snake skin is still up front in my mind, thank goodness you guys were excited, it kept you going. She will be a beauty when you are done. You guys are still spring chicken and you will have many years to rest yourself and enjoy every inch of this property. My sister inherited a 1890 house with crooked floors and pealing wallpaper. First thing she did was a wrap around porch and made flower beds, she didn't have garden tools to work the soil so she used a spoon. Well she created a piece of art with that property, inside the house was one room at the time. She is 76 now and has been at it for 30 years, her last room this summer was the kitchen. Her neighbors have been inspired by her landscaping work makes them feel they are at a resort when visiting. So for you two, courage you are almost there.

Thanks for making us a new video. I was concerned when I hadn’t seen a long video in a while - only shorts… I am a 50yo woman who in 2020 bought a 110yo home in New England. As a teacher, I thankfully get the summers to work on the home. It’s exhausting. When I bought the home I was all gung-ho because I like(d) projects. Liked. I have realized it’s no longer fun. I have to go online often and “window-shop” homes for sale just so I can appreciate the project I bought! 😝 And I watch a lot of DIY KZbin channels just to keep me going…and to learn new things too! Don’t lose faith. You will come out on the other side soon enough. I’m cheering you on!

I've been watching you from the beginning. I was immediately amazed at the knowledge you both have to accomplish so many tasks at the house. I wonder where you learned all of them? Experience I guess. I just think there's so much to do it's overwhelming, it would be for me. I think if you had help it would put a dent in some of the work. I would hate to see you finish it then not want to stay in it forever! I wonder how all the overgrowth can be maintained over time. I'm in Southern California and I've gotten to the point I'm taking out things I planted because it's too much work to maintain them. I put in a cactus succulent garden and things like firestick went 9 feet tall. I ended up taking it all out it's simply too much work. So be careful when you plan your outside. Especially palm trees. They are expensive to trim or take down when they get big and they are messy always dropping seeds and palm fronds. Also in FL with the winds and hurricanes you don't want trees falling on your home. Please continue. Too many people are enjoying the progress you are making. Also can't wait to see the Volvo moving!! Thanks.

You will be so satisfied when your studio is your happy place. We dormered our half upper floor, added a bathroom, and a large sink. My studio. Another note: I watch a youtube artist from the UK and she rented a house that smelled of cigarettes. They used something called sugar soap to wash the walls and neutralize the smell. Maybe an idea for the rooms you haven't primed yet.

You can do it. I am 63 having to repair my house after a flood in 2015. With all of us working full time and really lousy flood insurance we had to do it all ourselves. It also had to wait because I was hit by a drunk driver in 2018 and in 2022 I had to have replacement neck surgery. PT screwed up the great work my surgeon did so I live in a lot of pain now. But so far both bathrooms down to the stud, had it re-plumbed and the electric brought up to code in the kitchen which I am considering moving. I also live in Florida up the road from you two. I prefer your house to this cookie cutter town home that could flood again if we had another tropical depression sitting over where I live. But the city has brought in a pump to drain the pond out when we are threatened. I so know what you are going through. Keep going. I can't wait to see the end of it, and I can't wait to get done with this one. I hope to live long enough to enjoy it. I just passed the 30 year mark living in it.

Thank you very much for sharing!!!!! Having in a way inherited a house that was built 50 years ago that is plaster and concrete I learned that primer does not always solve all of your issues when it comes to bleed through and paint issues. Paint prime prime paint again as things happen. I live my life with no regrets and there is no magic cure for anything but ventilation when you have a plaster or concrete house is highly important. We ended up having to install AC inverters in almost every single room to help to control the moisture humidity in the house. That helped the most!!!! You guys have done an awesome job and thank you so much for bringing us along!!!!!!

@@CicadaAndCo YES!!! I AGREE...... I was only describing what we had done. Our house is called a Casa Masol House, their bill mainly in the Caribbean we're in Puerto Rico and they are basically a bunker for hurricanes. The walls and roofs are 100% concrete. To dehumidify the house We added AC inverters and have them on a schedule two rooms running about 5 hours each day at separate times. This system is 100% automated through a Google nest....... We can adjust it daily depending on the weather and our needs. For us it took with this system about a year year and a half before we started to see the mold and the condensation from the walls cease. Like everything is a process and that you have to make decisions from what your goals are and symptoms you see the house telling you. I love your series I can read late a lot and the grind is real. Wishing you guys the very best and thank you!!!! Great Job!!!!!

MAYBE to late but suggestion check out added sand to paint for textured plastered walls. Outside of sanding the wall smooth the Synthetic sand might even out the look . A hidden spot might tell you what would happen.
