Impressive, but they need to extend this customization across all races, AND classes. There's no reason why my human paladin should not have golden glowing eyes or army of light tattoos, or some sort of other holy effect. Or scars, for that matter (scars aren't an option for humans, they're locked to a couple of specific faces). Generally all the races got decent upgrades but they've set a new precedent with the amazing drac'thyr customization, so they will need to catch up with their core races too

Number one reason I find this off-putting. Give extra boons to a class/race I have no interest in playing. Why would they show favoritism here? Do they really want everyone playing Evokers for an expansion? Not sure what the strategy was. Just becuase you can doesn't mean you should.

One thing I would have liked is a body slider for the Visage form. I know that other people want the ripped body but sometimes I want to be the skinny guy casting spells or swinging giant swords. Just let me personalize more of my character.

When customizing my characters and their looks, I've never had an issue with scaling back and simplifying things. I think as long as you're okay with doing that on a Dracthyr, they have the potential to look amazing. Otherwise yeah, you're definitely going to be a sparkly, gaudy mess lol.

I suspect it helps if you have an idea from the get go as what you want your Dracthyr to look like. For example I was thinking (granted I don't have alpha/beta access) of making mine this awkward student who hasn't interacted with world much. If you just start with a blank canvas and have no plan as to what you're doing you'd easily end up waith a gaudy mess and go "good enough".

According to an interview with Ion, they 'want' to add more options but it will have to wait for when they can spare the development resources to actually do the work. So could be in a x.5 patch or over the next expansions.

Hope they add classes to Dracthyr later on, possible later on in the expansion as they learn other classes from others, even if they just give us the simple ones Warrior, Priest, Mage, Rogue. Then maybe much later they add others like hunter, shaman, DRUID.

i suspect that in time Draks will learn to be Warriors, Hunters, Shamans, Druids, Mages and Monks on top of their unique Class. however i do not ever see them becoming Paladins, Priests, Warlocks or Rogues, after all why would they have faith in the Light when the Aspects were born from Order? nor would i see them corrupting themselves with Fel, as for Rogues it's not impossible but i dont consider it a fit for them either, but that's more an opinion than an argument with merit.

@@franciscooliveira8939 The fun stems from principle of hybridization in general, even if losing a ligament whilst gaining a sense, etc. Pragmatically, flight offers much that I think senses and other adaptations do not necessarily compensate for, though functionally in a game it offers appreciated playstyle flexibility.

They should think of adding a tank spec later down the road, make it a "x amount if damage inflicted when attacked" type of tank that just stacks health, or even have resistances make a return for more customization on your gear somehow. "Melee attack resist" type of stuff, etc.

I honestly really like the way they look right now, it fits their intended role and the fantasy of them really well. Its true that they don't fit the "80's heavy metal orc death knight" vibe that is common for blizzard but theres lots of races that don't fit that; it's a big game with lots of different flavors of fantasy for lots of people. I dont think everyone needs to be super stoked about every new race, sometimes its just not your cup of tea and you get excited for the other goodies an expansion brings. Obviously its kind of a bummer when the new xpac is centering a flavor that you dont particularly like, and maybe this wasnt the best time for blizz to introduce a colorful, bejeweled race of slender casters but we all know this has been in the works for a long time; they couldn't have just switched gears to a bigger crowd-pleasing WoD style when shadowlands started to stumble. It just seems silly to me to catastrophize about the "new direction of blizzard" and "its all about pleasing the weebs on Twitter" when theres no indication that blizzard plans on abandoning the muscley, metal-head warrior style at all. Shadowlands for all its problems had a lot of those style elements with torghast gear, necrolord and venthyr sets, the maw, etc, it makes sense to me that the next installment would have lighter themes. MoP follows Cata, BfA follows Legion. Its just part of the cycle. If dracthyr aren't your vibe you can log back in with your rogue, have a great time with your new talent tree, collect the sick new gladiator mount, and go on with your life. If you're legitimately quitting the game and shrieking on reddit about how dracthyr are a sign of the end times and your entire identity is in danger bc their necks arent thick enough, then I don't really wanna play the game with you anyways ✌🏻

This EXACTLY. I, for one, am EXTREMELY excited about the dracthyr. I might honestly main one this expansion, it sounds like everything I want in a class--(resto) druid, mage, and demon hunter are my favorite classes, and I love healing. The androgynous and heavily-jeweled models and options are all gorgeous, I'm extremely excited. I don't normally go for anthro characters nor do I typically choose draconic-themed stuff, but the execution here is just perfect. It's not for everyone, but so many people seem to think that because it's not *their* fantasy that it doesn't appeal to anyone. I've seen so many "no one was asking for this" or "who would play this" type comments (about the androgynous and slender bodies) which really just exposes how entitled some people are. Having *one* race that's outside of the norm is enough--having a niche be catered to for once--to make them feel discriminated against... It really shows how privileged they must be. Smh.

Honestly, if appearances become this intricate, I hope that Blizzard impliments some way of saving an appearance like you can in FFXIV, because if I pick up Dragonflight, I'd be trying out so many different looks for this. I'd want to test out how far I can push certain themes and characterizations of Dracthyr. For example, I'd want to try and make two black dragonflight themed characters, one closer to Wrathion and one closer to Onyxia. I'd be trying a bunch of different themes like that just to see what I can make and that in itself might be the game for me for several days, to be completely honest with you.

Just imagine later on they allow Dracthyr to be mages. Instead of the hands surrounded by fire then the fireball coming from the hands, the fire animation starts at the dracthyr's mouth and when the spell casts, the fireball shoots from the mouth not the hands. That would be bad ass.

The dragon form doesn't need to wield weapons. Treat it like a druid form. Maybe add a few animations for different abilities across the classes, but keep the armor on the visage and keep the dragon looking dragony.

I wish Blizzard would do something like this: Epic characters. These "epic characters" don't level up by XP, but levels up by completing certain quests. And they have this "epic" questline that spans from Burning Crusade to the current expansion. This absolutely prevents any case where you hit level cap before the questline is over. This questline is made out of "main quests" (the ones that lets u level up), which are shortened versions of the main quest lines (skip all the "kill 10" quests, just do the "kill boss" quests - of course the quest texts needs to be updated to provide proper context also) of each expansion. Some quests require normal dungeons & LFR raids to be completed also (since they contain important lore moments - and serve as capstones to the leveling experience) but bots will be filled in if can't find players to fill the group. So meaning you can play your character basically from Burning Crusade all the way to Shadowlands to get the proper lore experience (post-launch patches included!) if you want to. No more jumping back and forth in time whenever you go into another expansion's zone while leveling. Admittedly however shortened these quests are, to get the proper comprehensible lore experience, the leveling time will still have to be much longer than normal leveling - but I think it's really permissible if you want to fully experience the lore. Also once the epic questline is done, you will go on playing endgame content like any other max-level character and will no longer receive "epic" quests whenever new patches come up.

One option they could add for color/style cohesion betwixt the dragon form & the visage form, would be a simple check box to keep whatever elements match between the two, say like horn morphology & color, & so on. The chest spikes coming out of the armor looks ridiculous. Since this armor is specifically made for Dracthyr to wear, there should be no problems like that. Also I don't like how choosing "none" in scale pattern isn't actually "none."

In the dragon form, I could see the really slim/sleek look with fins carrying off a sort of slithering dragon fantasy. But agree that the bulkier type was also needed. As for the future, I could see the Drak'thyr being druids for sure. Warriors, rogues. Hunter would be iffy, same with Paladin. Priest yes. Shaman... maybe? Not a DK. Not a monk either. DH would... that could work honestly, maybe be the only other 'race' that could be a demon hunter?

A lot of game developers making the games that I play have turned to a PLYW (Play Like you want) mentality when it comes to customisation options in those games, I do agree that with power comes a greater responsibility that people are probably not going to remember when making a character and we will get to see some funny looking Drakthyrs from maybe yours or mine perspective but for others it will be their unique style to go with and will be happy about it and I for sure can see the customisation options go beyond just drakthyr at least for when it comes to hair styles, maybe the eye sight as well and other things that would be neat to have. I also think it's important to not go overly in on customisation options which is also my fear with Drakthyr that it still need to play into the fantasy and not be like overly "rainbowfied" (with the colour options not to be mistaken as anything lgbtq).

There’s surprisingly few dragon themed games these days weirdly enough. I think blizzard kinda hit the jackpot with this theme. Where’s my dragon hatching games for example??? I’d unironically play one on mobile even if it was filled with the usual garbage.
