Manna Dey was the most competent and perfectly trained singer . He was the only singer of Indian Cinema who was capable of singing all types of songs however difficult or complicated they were . He had the firm foundation of classical music . He had received an intensive and very deep training in classical music from his renowned Chacha K .C. Dey . He was chosen by Shankar Jaikishan to sing a very difficult classical song "Ketaki gulaab juhi champak ban phoole" with Pt. Bhim Sen Joshi in film Basant Bahaar . Whenever a very difficult or classical song came before the music directors, they ran towards Manna Dey. He was the favourite singer of Raj Kapoor and Shankar Jaikishan . Raj Kapoor once said that Manna Dey could give clear expression to even the minutest and delicate notes very melodiously . He was perfect in all the most complicated and difficult taans and alaaps of classical music . But like all other fields politics did play its part . The greatest classical singer of our films didn't get his due . But those who understand the beauty and depth of music give him the highest place among all the singers of India . Hemant Kumar , another golden -voiced singer of India was a great admirer of Manna Dey .He used Manna Dey's rich talents in a number of films for which he ( Hemant Kumar ) had composed music . Both these great singers of our films held each other in highest esteem . Their relations were very graceful and dignified. Really Manna Dey and Hemant Kumar were the Anmol Ratnas of Indian Music .

I would have certainly gone to attend his funeral but unfortunately I was on tour to Jamshedpur that day and shocked to hear the news of his death. माना डे संगीत जगत में बहुत बेमिसाल शास्त्रीय संगीत का गायक है। उनके गायकी बहुत टिपिकल और अद्वितीय है। उनके गानों को दूसरे कोही गए तो उनके जैसे गा नहीं सकते। उनके अंतिम समय में अंतिम यात्रा में बॉलीवुड के सितारे ,या कलाकार सामिल नहीं होनेका कारण है की बॉलीवुड के कलाकार स्वार्थी , अपना मतलबी , लालची जिनके कोही ऐसे खासियत नहीं है जिनको कोही इतना वैल्यू देने का लायक समझा जाए। माना डे मुंबई से दूर बैंगलोर में रहते थे, इतना दूर जाने के लिए कौन पैसा खर्चा करना चाहेगा ? ऐसा नहीं है की उनको दिलसे लोगों प्यार नहीं करते थे।

Every singer enjoys maximum popularity among masses and film industry when he is busy in his profession of singing in films. If such a person dies during his peak period, he will be remembered instantly by the masses. KL Saigal saab was in a peak of his popularity when he expired and he got lot of his fans attending his funeral. Mukesh ji was at his peak of career, when he expired while on tour to Canada with Lata didi. He also got a huge funeral wherein thousand of fans and people from film industry participated in his funeral. After recording his last song for film Aas Paas, Mohd Rafi suffered a massive heart attack in his house and expired in a hospital. His funeral procession was a grand one wherein most of the film stars, producers and directors of Hindi film industry participated. Perhaps Manna Dey saab expired after he became old and stopped singing in films. He had got the most prestigious Dada Sahib Phalke Award during his life time which neither Mukesh ji or Rafi Saab ever got. So it was natural that only limited fans of him rushed to his funeral. By that time other singers had emerged in films like Udit Narain, Sonu Nigam, Kumar Sanu, Amit Kumar etc and became famous among the youths. Can a true lover of Hindi film music ever forget the great singer Manna Dey saab and his wonderful songs.

मन्ना डे जी को शास्त्रीय संगीत का गहरा ज्ञान था,,, उन्होंने बंगाली गीतों को भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत में ढाला था, अनुपम प्रयोग किया था,,,धरती पर मनुष्य ऐसा प्राणी है, जो अपना स्वार्थ सिद्ध करने केलिए किसी भी सीमा तक गिर सकता है,,, बालीवुड में ऊंगते सूरज को सलाम किया जाता है,,, राष्ट्रकवि प्रदीप का जीवन असहनीय कष्टों में होकर गुजरा,सीलन भरे छोटे से कमरे में उन्होंने जीवन के अन्तिम दिन काटे,,, मृत्यु से पूर्व सरकार ने लाख रुपए के पुरस्कार देकर उनसे छुटकारा पा लिया,,,आज की सरकार अब जब सभी का ध्यान रख रही हैं तो,इस धरती के चांडाल फिर मानवीय संवेदनाएं समाप्त करने सक्रिय हो चुके हैं,,, लोकतंत्र की आड़ में कम्युनिज्म स्थापित करने में जुटे हुए हैं,,,😢😢😢 ईश्वर भला करे इस देश का,,,

So dumb, every artist has their own genre, when it comes to classical no one comes even close to manna dey, Bhimsen Joshi respected Manna dey for his depth in sastriya sangeet. Rafi and Kishore were for filmy or song that is to picturize. When manna delivered raw music, he could sing every type of classical very effortlessly and smoothly, listen to his geet and ghazal, the one who is into classical music knows who was Manna dey, a legecy. I wish to pay my regards to great Manna Dey.. He was incomparable and wonderful singer of our country. I saw an interview of legendary singer Manna De on National TV channel many years ago in which he was asked which of his rival singers would you put ahead of you. Answering this question, he laughed and said that there is only one person, named Kishore Kumar who will render any song that I might not be able to. Thanks a lot for presenting a very informative video of respected legendary singer Sri. Manna Dey.

Excellent vdo as a tribute to the legendary singer . Thanks a lot. He was also a great person with very good human qualities. Dr. Devi Shetty did not take any consultation fee for treatment of Mr. Dey. He was so much respectful about Mr. Dey. His wife's death was a big shock. Very unfortunate that during his last days at his daughter's home he did not get proper care and treatment. He had to spend a very lonely life. Now I learnt that his daughter and her husband stole all his savings!! Better not to have such a daughter!! Salute to Manna-jee!

मन्ना डे जी ने भी पुराने हिन्दी semi classic गानों में महानतम गायक कुंदन लाल सहगल की आवाज अंदाज और गायकी की नकल कई वर्षों तक की थी फिर SD बर्मन के लेने के बाद उनका अपना अंदाज विकसित हुआ। वो फिल्मी आवाज की रेंज की तुलनात्मक कमी के कारण पीछे रह गए... अन्यथा वो महानतम गायक थे.. जय हो डाॅ साहब
