I was 12 years old when this came out and have loved it ever since. It always takes me back to those times, when everything was still simple, and evokes so many emotions. Powerful!

Mick Hucknall, the lead singer, has a unique voice and a pleasant tone in my opinion. The whole band is very easy to listen to. Peace brothers and sisters!

Now you need to continue down the simply red rabbit hole. Check out “if you don’t know me by now”, a remake they did back in the day. Basic history of this song, I believe he wrote it about his mother and their lack of relationship as she left when he was at a young age….

I am a fan of Simply Red since my teens but never knew about the history of Mick Hucknall. I learned about him years later that his mom left him and his dad when he was a toddler. Watching and listening to this song after that made so much sense. That fear of being abandoned must have interefered on hia life so much.

The cemetery represents death, he's showing the fresh young love of a young man and woman in a place of death, probably symbolizing the dead love of his mother and father (of who this song is about) before they fell out of love. He encounters her as his teacher when she is either older or living another life than what she was when she fell in love with his father. He is represented as a child who can only watch and witness, but cannot do anything about it as the world turns, represented by the turning of events going on around his young self throughout. His older self is taking a walk reminiscing his life events before ultimately getting on a train to somewhere. The symbols are all pretty clear when you learn that the song is about his mother leaving his father when he was 3 and his longing for a mother as he tries to understand.

Love this song. Thank you for sharing it with us.. I think a couple of months ago I gave you an advice and that was, to please quit smoking. It is bad for the health, it makes you wrinkle faster and you are too young and very handsome. Please consider it. Have a beautiful and blessed day and a big hug to your gorgeous wife.

@JustHalf first I want to wish you well and that everything is going to be OK with your Health. The young man wrote this song when he was 15 it’s about his mother abandoning him when he was three years old I’m never coming back. He’s wasting all his peers wasting all his years hoping for a chance to be good but nothing ever would. 15 years old and write a song about something so personal it’s amazing.

In small towns the cemetery can be a place to go for privacy. My hubby and I used to take our walks thru the cemetery in our small town. Trees.. grass.. peaceful.. others did same thing. In cities I think cemeteries are locked up and not the same.

He wrote this at 17 yrs old, it's actually about the fact that his mother left him at 3 yrs old & never went back to see if he was alright. It's why he has so much angst in his voice when he sings it.

They used to call him a white soul singer. He is irish but he has some soul in his voice. Some black people where confused about the video and the voice, because they thought that this song was from a black person. Music should be without discrimination.

Fear.....it's the greatest UNmotivator. BTW, something is distorting the sound a bit. Might possibly be the gain on whatever the recording device is, could be just slightly too high. Or maybe the lowest end of the bass frequency is overpowering. My headphones can usually handle the really low end without distortion, that's why I noticed.
@garywright97152 жыл бұрын
Who is gonna be making out at a cemetery? When you get one chance at making an impression you would be surprised. This song explores what may have been and what you were willing to do to whether you succeeded or not. Cemeteries are for those you loved and are gone. But that said they can just be a place of renewal. Complicated, but this song at least explores all possibilities. When I was young cemeteries were a playground to a point. It was just an experience when you don’t have a care when you are young.

@@justhalf750 Heyee my guy! How are you feeling?☺️ You are making an attempt to do some veggie/smoothies right??🤨 I promise you, coming from someone that had to make a change for her own health, and the fact that I have two BEAUTIFUL young adult children....trust me I was NOT on board with all those veggies either....but I was amazed at how DELICIOUS it was!😋😊 So please be open to anything and everything that can keep you around longer for your precious children.🙏🏻💪🏻👍🏻 Okay I won't scold you too much, lol! Alright, hum which Ez Mil song🤔🤔🤔 Omg it's so hard because EVERY SINGLE ONE IS ABSOLUTE 🔥🔥🔥 Ok ok I gotta make a choice, just so long that you promise to REALLY LISTEN, because I KNOW your an Eminem fan as I am too, so let's start with "IDK" many say it means "In Da Kitchen" because he literally films it "IN HIS KITCHEN" & not only does he write all his own lyrics, but directs and edits EVERYTHING as well. Be sure to put your thinkin cap on, because there's bars within bars, and bars underneath bars....not to mention his flow is spot on! I can even imagine that once you hear this, you won't be JUMPIN down the Ez 🐇 rabbit 🕳️ hole😂🤣😂🤣 If you like it, then maybe next should be "PANALO" on the WishBus, it shows his lyrical genius and PRIDE for his country.💪🏻🇵🇭 Okay young man..... I'll be waiting! And I'm SOOOO excited your gonna react to him😂 This is definitely gonna bring you tons for LOYAL Ez Mil supporters, especially our Filipino brothers and sisters, they will treat you as family 💯% #EzMilSuccessTrain🚂🇵🇭🥇💙 ✌🏻🇺🇲💕🤗

This is a very sad video, lots of details that are easy to miss. Did you see why the little boy fell from his bike? He crawls under the kitchen table and out the door. Why? You see a little boy daydreaming about his teacher, it's not him. He is watching the other boy watching the teacher. What happened with his mother at the door? Is he leaving? Is he falling? You caught that he has fear, what does he fear? What is his relationship with his parents like? Why?
