Why Dieffenbachia Leaves Yellow and What to Do About It

I used to have that plant. Then my 1 yo granddaughter tore a piece off and took a bite. She started crying and drooling, I took her to the ER and my boyfriend took the plant to have the state nursery tell us if it was toxic. It is. If you own it, keep it out of a childs reach. She had marks where it was eating the protein in her little mouth. I tossed it.

Make sure you toss all the other plants too, because the toxic spreads.

Pls, help. I'm new and I just got the dieffenbachia plant 3days ago. I just noticed that some leaf is curling. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

@namename8390, How many leaves are curling? And is the soil very wet? Since you have only had the plant for 3 days, it is unlikely that it is something you have done. It may have been overwatered prior. However, another reason for leaf curling is putting the plant in too bright of light. Where do you have the plant in your home?

People say this is an easy plant, but it's so temperamental. I'm almost ready to get rid of it.

@prettybrwneyez7757, I would agree that dieffenbachia isn't easy, though it is often said to be. It's on my list of plant divas. Definitely temperamental!
