From what I read she witnessed the arrest of the Christian organization Christ is the answer crusade at a shopping mall. The people were arrested for telling others that Jesus loves them. The arrest burdened Skeeters heart and she mentioned that at her performance at the Grand Ol Opry. Then later expressed it to Nashville police department. So the Opry banned skeeter. She was later reinstated as a member,

The GOO needs to stop acting like this is a religion, it’s entertainment and regional at best. Music fans vote with their dollars and thats what drives the business. George Straight, Willie Nelson, Deirks Bentley and many more don’t need pretentious associations to be great artists.
