Nikki 0West3 BabyDoll Garcia As can be inferred logically from the title, that is what this video should be about. When I was 19 I dyed my hair a bright red. I went to Walmart and this little girl whispered loudly to her mom "look mom. It's the little mermaid!" She seemed soooo happy and I went along with it. I asked her her name and little stuff like what she liked and we hugged. I look nothing like Ariel! But she thought I did and thought I was her and it didn't cost me anything to go along with it to make a little girl happy🥰

I'd assume it's so that kids don't mistake visitors for princesses so that the visitors don't ruin the "experience" as all princesses and characters are strictly trained. @@robynwaugh1446 It's because of liability regarding kids. Adults know the difference. Kids don't. Adults used to be able to dress up in the parks. To answer the question of the title: Character integrity and safety! It could break the magic for children (adults as well) if they see multiple princesses and other characters just wandering around the parks, especially when they look messy or act rude. Children could also be led away/kidnapped because they trust the characters. Costumes are allowed at events like Halloween and running events (although latter has more guidelines), but people who dress like characters accurately can not pretend that they are the real characters. Disneybounding was found as a 'loophole' for this rule, although I must say some get very close to the edge between costume and outfit. (wigs, elaborate fabrics) The nice thing about Disneybounding is that you can wear it outside Disney as well, as you're using casual clothes. This was still a nice video about Disneybounding and it was nice to see the host so amazed, but maybe a title change would help viewers a little more? :)

kimbaponigiri they don’t want people/kids mistaking them for actual characters. Especially since their characters have a contract to maintain the illusion and be “innocent”. @DearMe217 It's not banned year round. Adults can cosplay during events like Halloween, but that's about it. I must admit. I went to Tokyo Disney's Halloween event when I lived in Japan and it was REALLY difficult to tell the different between the cast members and guests. Some guests were just that GOOD. Yvette is so cool. I feel like some of the others give off a more influencer vibe: they just put together outfits they find at a store and go to disney a lot so it wasn't quite getting across for me. But the way Yvette explains how the character resonates with her, and made clothes that tie in her culture, it's a lot more imaginative and I can understand the passion more through her

I worked at Disney World in college and the primary reasons why they banned adults from wearing costumes in the park are pretty much: 1. They don’t want to ruin the “magic.” They want the face characters (especially the princesses) to look a particular way, sound a particular way, and act a particular way. The auditions and training just to play Cinderella is extensive. Everyone doesn’t look like a princess - sorry. If Random Rhonda just walked in the park trying to be Belle, and didn’t quite look the way Disney wanted her to or capture Belle’s characterization it would be a hot mess. 2. It’s not safe for you to dress up. If you pull off a pretty convincing Aurora and some creepy fan is obsessed with you, Disney doesn’t have your back. Security precautions are put in place to protect the actress who is paid to play Aurora, but if some creeper cornered you in the restroom with a chloroform towel...well oops. 3. It’s not safe for the guests. Let’s be real, some people are weird. Who knows? What if you pretend to be Pocahontas in an effort to assault children? Disney ain’t got time for that.

At first, I didn’t like the tone of this video because it sounded demeaning but I liked the ending a lot. For many Disneybounders and Disney hardcore fans, we love Disney because it reminds us to play, believe in magic, and have hope. It reminds us how to be a kid again and also not forget it. Besides taking us away from the real world for a day, it also teaches us how to go back and make the world better, little by little. And sometimes it’s that little bit of hope that gets a dream started. So I’m glad this video is out there :)

It's pretty obvious: they don't want anyone whose not on their payroll and bound by their rules of performing (remember, two performers of the same character can't be seen in the same areas of the park, they have very specific images they have to give, ect) to be confused for their actors.

Disney characters at the parks are heavily controlled. All of the characters have to learn each princess' mannerisms so they stay consistent no matter what, especially all the autographs. So if one child gets an autograph from one Belle and another from a different Belle, they still have the same signature because Disney has classes on how to be each princess. They speak and move in the same ways, etc.

Disneyland/World don’t like people dressing up because people and other cast members could mistake those people for cast members. Also I love how you say Disney World but go to Disneyland.

Watching this brought me to tears. I haven’t watched an actual Disney movie in my life ever. I’d just never get the opportunity to do so but I know how things go through watching spoilers actually. I honestly never watch movies, just watch spoilers or reviews on KZbin to catch up with the people. And I’m going to finish high school next year but I feel like my life has already hit rock bottom.

I just got back from Disneyland, CA as well. I needed the escapism and quite frankly there really is no replacement for the feeling you get from being there. It really is the happiest place on earth...everyone is smiling and every little detail is considered and people work damn hard there and it creates a bunch of employment. I can see how people get obsessed with the experience.

Pretty sure it isn’t, I’ve heard horror stories and story times of people who used to work at Disney. I’m sure there’s more behind the scenes and isn’t that great when you’re the one working there and isn’t visiting.

Bounding is so fun! I got literally hundreds of compliments on my bounds from my most recent 3-day trip. Vintage ("dapper") outfits are allowed so I did a white and rose gold Mouseketeer-inspired dress to go with the rose gold ears and a strapless 50s dress that I could change between pink and blue (I'm sure you can guess who I was) and wore it with homemade wire ears with a crown in the center and pink and blue flowers. I make what I wear because I love sewing and designing. Disney is the place where everyone can be a child and participate in the magic.

I love Yvette! Representation is so important, and incorporating that into her Disneybound outfits is so great to see! She's very creative and her outfits are stunning. And Chelsea seems so genuinely cheerful and fun - like how could you not be happy in her presence?

I feel like Yvette and Chelsea are completely different people, Yvette seems genuine imo, and like she’s wanting representation in a world she loves, Chelsea seems like she’s capitalizing on the Disney bounding.

They just don't want you dressing too much like the characters cuz then kids will confuse you with the Park characters. The children are allowed to dress up as the characters though as long as they're under a certain age. Makes sense when you think about it.

@WB Sims yes you can. People have gone in full whoville costumes during Christmas. My local park has whole sections on their site about costume ideas. Universal Studios is just cooler about it.

Universal targets older audiences. There also aren't character meet up generally. If Character meeting was a constant thing they'd be stricter with costumes cause children trust Cinderella but if some strange lady pretended to be a crew member dressed like Cindy and convinced a child to come with her that child may just end up missing. That's the most extreme reason for adult costume banning but it's not the only.

Employees in universal don’t really act like their character either. They wear name tags and usually have an older following
