@@CarlHobson-zm2gk Which is a little obtuse, since to Ghandi the British were the oppressors - very present and personally known oppressors. Of course, if Hilter (intentional) was the colonial power in charge of India, passive resistance would have simply meant a LOT more corpses in the streets. But still, I do comprehend his position at the time. The crown had allowed one of it's "authorized" companies oversaw the intentional starvation of tens of millions of Indians.

@wooshifgay462 Superstition was natural for millions of years when humans were too ignorant to understand anything without it. Today, it's a vestige of that ancient world. Its followers are the percentage of the population who either can't or won’t adapt to the changing conditions of a planet filled with billions of people. Their irrational thought process combined with an end-time superstition from the Bronze Age has turned into an actual threat to the survival of our species.

We don't hate the dude, it's much simpler than that. The question, "How did you know that God is the good one and Satan is the bad one?" is compelling because the book in question only provides a narrative of one figure’s actions. Without a balanced view of both entities, how can one confidently distinguish between good and evil based solely on one perspective? This highlights the need for a more nuanced understanding rather than relying on a singular, potentially biased source. I've always loved that question and I've used it for a rebuttal a few times when I debated a theists. He was a kindergarten Christian so it broke his brain as soon as he thought about it for more than a second and defaulted to deflecting.

I’ve been wrestling with this one for some months. The Satan character as presented by christians is far from perfect, but he’s pretty clearly the protagonist in every interaction with god that I’m aware of. But god? As portrayed in the bible? He’s terrible. The morals are terrible, the lessons are terrible. He’s an insecure psychopath, lying constantly, changing rules at a whim, and gaslighting his subjects into thinking he’s the good one. Maybe he tried to get sober and behave better with the Jesus shtick, but old habits die hard and the pity party kept on going. I just don’t get how he’s the good guy, or love, or any of that. Not the god in the book, anyway.

Not really, religion has been used by people to gain power over kings and emperors by the people who proclaim to know gods mind since the dawn of time. Jesus was pretty much a hippie when it comes to this because he stood with the peasants, the whores and the meek. What you hate (I would believe) are those that are using religion in the way it has always been used and thereby perverting the message of Jesus. I'm an atheist but hating the idea of Jesus is ridiculous, out of all of religion he's the single thing that isn't all bad and if they followed his ideas of the most important thing was tolerance and love then it would be fine, but they don't because that isn't how religion has ever worked, as I explained before. Jesus has nothing to do with Muslims murdering women for not wearing the Hijab, Jesus has nothing to do with the instruction that leaving the religion means you are to be put to death either, that's Mohammad. Different religion, same shit and in no case do they observe the message of Jesus. I could be wrong though, if so I am always ready to learn.

But I'm gonna call you out on the "defense" that you gave for Harry not freeing Kreacher. There is no reason to not free a slave. In book 5, we had the excuse that Kreacher knew too much about the Order, but the war is over at the end of book 7. Harry is allowed to keep his slave cuz JKR promotes that benevolent masters can keep slaves while mean or cruel masters (Lucius, Crouch Sr.) are frowned upon. JKR is essentially biblical where she doesn't oppose slavery but she encourages benevolent slavery. Which is hugely problematic

This is another caller that I would classify as "incredibly emotionally immature". I honestly think that being heavily indoctrinated at a young age causes developmental problems in these people. I feel like religious indoctrination makes life more difficult for the victims because they end up being adults who cannot grapple with reality on its own terms and end up retreating into emotionally fulfilling fantasy.
