My 16 year old son ask me Ma, why is it so hard to date a black girl. Everytime I approach a girl I'm interested to all I get is eye rolling and attitude but she don't mind talking to the dude selling drugs and in the streets. As a mother all I told him is to focus on your grades so you can graduate from high school so you can go to college. What do you say to your teenage son that wants a relationship with a black girl but is overlook because he don't look or act like a thug? But if a white woman decide to give him a chance then he is wrong for being with her. We have to do better....

Interractial dating is fine for the record. Just don't do bash black women to make white women seem better. I understand if you don't limit yourself to any race. That's perfectly okay. I have a major issue with those who say things like "I don't date black men because you're all in jail" or "I don't date black women because they have a bad attitude" when in reality these people are using anecdotal evidence of the one time they were rejected by black girl 10 months ago.

andre woods Actually, go to Pew research center... That number has changed is steadily decreasing each year. Most black men prefer black women... but the marriage statistics show that 75% of black men married black women and 89%of black women married black men.. however, there is no statistics on interracial dating, which would make that number not thousands, but millions (*lol). So, most black women are only seeking black men, but black men marry 3 times outside the race we do.

High school was rough for me. I was a fat nerdy black guy with a deep voice. I got rejected so many times by black girls that I just pretty much gave up on them. I got passed over by black girls for boys who wore their pants around their ankles and talked in incomplete sentences regularly. I was too young and immature to realize that it’s just how females are at that age and not just black women in general. Now that I’m older, I realize that my past experiences have jaded my view of black women. I was smart enough to realize this later in life but you have to wonder how many other black men went through something similar and weren’t able to come to the realization I came to.

We all have our experiences not sure why it's always about the black girls not taking interest. Black dudes weren't interested in us dark skin girls. All the black dudes dated light skin girls but I never blamed black dudes as a whole. Yeah it was fucked up, seeing all the lightskin girls get flowers on valentine's day. Us darkskin girls never had secret admirers or got flowers. But like you as I got older things started to change after I started working and the pool of men I was around changed. I wish black dudes would let that pain go. It seems so selfish to blame others for not wanting you. Narcissistic even.

But having Godly values I don't date anyone, be a I will not marry anyone because I'm not going to lose my Retirement check I finally got. Because if the marriage don't work then I can't get my check back. And I've had black men tell me they know they don't have enough to share, so they will not marry, so I'm thinking the same thing. I finally got old enough to get half my ex's Retirement and half mine and I'm keeping it. Times are tough and I can't lose what I've finally earned. Please forgive me if I sound condescending, bc that is not my intent. At the same time, I would like to suggest that ....you too may want to consider trying to contribute the same type of healing energy in a world that needs it so very much. +Blacktheslave These are not "desires" all Black women or women period want from black men. Looking at me, you see another "black women". My father is Panamanian and Puerto Rican. While my mother is Black Dominican. I wasn't raised in a traditional house hold with stereotypes of black men and women. I have a very multicultural background and upbringing. I could date any race or ethnicity of man. I don't care. BUT. To me there is nothing like a black man. Everything about a black man is intriguing to me and soulful. Spiritual and divine. I see a black man in a suit. He looks the best wearing it. He stands out to me. Everywhere. I don't see every black man in one black man. I don't see the stereotypes. Or the nonsense on TV in all Black men. Why do some people see us as a whole? Black women are this, black women are that. I really don't understand when a black man can sit back and sterotype women of there own race. I love uplifting my black men! There are many like me as well.

+Blacktheslave There is a reason why "they" want us apart. It's deeper then our skin. What a Black man and Woman. A real Black man and Black Woman can accomplish, is unspeakable. I'm with a very good man. He is black. He is as good to me as I am to him. My support system. As I am his. I love him for the things he tries to make possible, then hate him for the things he cant make possiable. We balance each other. I love our image. I'm all for interracial dating. I think its beautiful. What saddens me though is that it seems like black women are at the bottom of the selection/food chain/dating pool/whatever you want to call it. A lot of us are open to dating out of our races but others aren't as open to dating black women. Sometimes even black men blatantly refuse to date black women. I think I might die alone. Onkzee Honestly, I'm not surprised given South Africa's history (past and present). I am by no means making a generalization out of respect for those that do date us. This is not limited to S. Africa, but other countries within Africa as well. Westernization and its associated constructs hit Africa like a ton of bricks. I too have experienced this and once I "became awake" I couldn't be upset because I knew why both African men and women would make the ignorant side of those statements. When people are truly comfortable with interracial dating, you will see they won't keep bringing it up or saying statements like that. It can be annoying trying to date your own as an expat, but don't lose hope, they are out there.

Hey great segment! This is a discussion I have been waiting to hear. I have discussed this issue with some brotha's and some flat out have told me they prefer not to date black women. Their reasons: we have big mouths, attitudes and do not cater to our men. I live in Los Angeles, so interracial dating is highly prevalent, but from MY experience I have seen a drastic increase in brotha's dating non black women. Nothing wrong with interracial dating, love is love, I have dated outside of my race, but I would like to connect with my partner and be able to have common cultural interests. We see so many public figures such as: Tiger Woods, Cuba Gooding Jr, Taye Diggs, Michael Ealy, Terrence Howard, Russell Wilson, Kanye West, Alfonso Ribeiro, David Oyelowo who have married non black women. There are dating websites and statistics that support this "black men electing not to date black women." At the end of the day, you cannot help who you fall in love with, every one has preferences, I love ma brothas!

I don't think people are really complaining about interracial dating. At least not the majority of them. I think there is a general concern when a man won't date a woman, simply because of her skin tone, especially a woman of your race. Dating outside of your race does not make you a self-hater. However, I would argue that refusing to date any woman/man of your own race means that you are a self-hater. P.S. Please don't come at me with none of that "Black women got too much attitudes" or "Black men ain't on our level" bull. There are too many black people in this world for blanket statements like those to be made.

As a black woman, I am accountable for my own actions. Would be nice if other people realized that, and didnt hold every single black woman accountable for the stereotypes other black women choose to perpetuate. You had bad experiences growing up, dating, etc? Fine. That still doesn't make it right to judge and demean individuals who had nothing to do with how you were treated previously, simply because they share the same skin color of the people who did you wrong, or were too loud or acting a fool in public. Black men, y'all go through the same thing. You prefer dating outside of your race, Great. But what does demeaning your own race to others do for you, except make you look like you only hate yourself? So until everyone realizes we are in this struggle together, and stop tearing each other down over dumb crap, We will not prosper as a people, and will fail at making the world realize our highly expressed melanin producing genes have nothing to do with how intelligent, successful, and well rounded we are just like any other race.

I am 46. I a lawyer going on 21 years. After I passed my bar, and got my career set at my firm, I decided it was time to settle down and have a family. I NEVER dated white women through high school, college, and my playing days. Never even thought about it. However, as I grew as a man, my expectations grew. In my profession, there weren't a lot of sistas around. It didn't discourage me. I had an expectation. I wanted someone who had my interests, values, and personality match. So I dated A LOT. I found myself with my sistas on dates that didn't have my same interest. First off, ambition is a must. Ambition to succeed. Just having a job isn't good enough for me. Most times the sistas I was talking to were just happened to have a job. Then, it was I'm too soft because of my approach in treating them like a lady. Meanwhile, a somewhat colleague of mine I worked closely with, was an accountant for our firm. I would deal with her regularly through the years. I would see her out from time to time. She was a sexy woman, but that's as far as my thoughts went. But, the more we spoke on a personal level, the more we realized when had the same interest, and same ambitions.. She offered me one day a friendly kayaking trip. I accepted. And, more things of interest. Next thing I knew, I thought to myself "this woman is what I've been looking for. Loves jazz. Loves the outdoors. Has professional goals. Very fit, etc". So I asked her out on an official date. She was taken back, but accepted. On that date, she asked me one question. She said, Why me?". I explained to her the attributes she had. She replied, "but I'm.not your type", and I replied, "when your heart feels something, you feel it. My heart is feeling you're my type". She opened up and said this was uncharted territory for her as she has never been on a date like this 14 years later, my sexy, beautifully intelligent white wife has made partner at her firm. I'm junior partner st mine. Two beautiful kids. We are each other's first, last, and everything. Point being, I was stuck in the mode of I need a black woman; I want a black woman. Instead I found the most compatible woman FOR ME. A friend, lover, and mother. Didn't plan it. I actually fought it. But, it happened.

We met at the lowest point of my life and she accepted me when I lost alot due to the entrepreneur lifestyle of chasing your dreams. We went on 2 dates that I paid for and I knew I couldn't do another date because I was about to step out on faith and start my own company. I moved into my grandmother's basement to save money. Walked away from my job. I told her we shouldn't date anymore because I don't want to embarrass myself being 30 moving back home. Her response blew me away. She said I'm a very independent woman and don't need a man to take care of me. I don't mind paying for dinner or movie. I like you and can respect a guy trying to better himself. Well she helped me alot and in my business. We have a successful company and a son now. We travel and I can honestly say she's with me because she seen my ambition.

I like what these guys have to say. The conversation was very balanced. I think the number and proportion of black men dating/marrying white women is much lower than black women think . I don't find anything wrong with interracial dating, but at least expand your horizons to include and get to know other ethnic groups. After 400+ years, we should have learned enough about white people that we could take some time out to learn more about ourselves and the other black and brown folks across the globe. Some people act like dating a white person is exotic or an upgrade in some way and that mentality is very unhealthy. Interracial love is no more beautiful than any other type of love.

I've always said that it's a myth that MOST successful Black Men date out of their race. I live in the Bay Area here in Northern California and yes there are many mixed race couples, more than usual but it's not possible that mixed race couples out number Black Couples. I remember having a conversation with another co-worker (Brutha) who was flirting with a white female co-worker and he asked me if I thought he was pretty, my answer was that I'm not attracted to white women like that and said she's alright, I guess if you're attracted to white women. Well she heard me and was offended by my answer. She said that I don't know what I was missing, I quickly replied, "What do you have to offer me that a BLACK Woman cant?" she paused and said I'm just saying I'm a nice person, I giggled and walked away!

I am a white man married to a GORGEOUS ebony queen. I never thought I would date outside my race but after meeting her, I had no idea what I was missing. She has the natural hair too which I love. But I also like weaves and extensions. It's TRUE what they say, once you go black, you never go back (at least in my situation). I have nothing against white women but it makes no sense how black women get so much hate when they are just as beautiful as any other race of women. What's even more disheartening is a lot of the hate black women get is from their own men. I have also seen a lot of comments from black men hating on the sistas for dating outside their race but last I checked, its 2019 and ALL women are free to do what they want. I don't see a lot of hate coming from white men when white women date outside their race. It just seems hypocritical hearing black men hate on their women for dating outside their race because historically, everyone knows that black men date outside their race more than any other group of people. I say fuck the haters and if you are a white man, I think you should not box yourself in to one group of people because you can be missing something very special. Same goes for black women. There are a lot of white men who are "secretly" attracted to black women because we have not gotten past the taboo in society of white men dating black women. But I'm starting to see a trend of it becoming more acceptable and it is very encouraging to see. Love has no color

The problem is that this is even a discussion. Be with whoever you fancy/love, don't accept social boundaries. Don't let people tell you it's weird or improper to date somebody who is of a different race than you. Don't go after a certain kind of people because you're supposed to. My wife is black and I forget that she is, I look at her and my daughter and all I see are the people I love. Also, sometimes people talk as if it's some kind of competition. Who's better? White men, black men? Black women, white women? As if you could compare which race is better. Our modern society should be better than that.

Hmmm ... I’ve dated white, asian, black, Latino ... both male and female. I can’t honestly say what it is that attracts me in the beginning, maybe the energy they’re giving off, but I can honestly say what keeps me with them, or makes me leave, is their personality/attitude. It wasn’t until later in life that my mom told me stories from her childhood about how white people walked on one side of the street, and blacks on the other ... and despite how she was raised, she never pushed this thought process at me as a child, she allowed me grow so I judged people for their contents, rather than the color of their skin. My mom was not perfect, but she was brilliant in some ways as a parent. I also believe my open attitude is the reason I’ve never been judged on the fact that I like women as much as men, despite being a teenager in the 80s, and a young adult in the 90s, as so many members of the LGBT community have complained of. So my thought process may a bit different from the majority, but I believe that if people would quit pushing the race differences, and learn to love diversity instead of bitching about it, then maybe more people would get along 🤷‍♀️ how can we leave the hate behind, when it’s always being taught to the young???

People can marry who they want. The problem is when people bash one another. Why do so many Black men feel the need to bash Black women, degrade them, or say we have attitudes? When Arab men marry outside their race or any other race of men, they don't bash their own race of women. Stop generalizing millions of people you've never met.

All I know is don't degrade black women to uplift white women, cause that's unneeded. Don't say we have attitudes and we're angry when every race of women have attitudes and are angry every so often. Don't say shit about us, PERIOD. Enjoy your white woman, but leave us black women ALONE. That's all we want.

I think all races need to respect their race & every other race. It doesn't always have to do with race. If a black man is dating me it doesn't mean he is hating on black women, it means he likes me & is genuinely interested in me. I don't ever like or date a guy for what race he is. I've dated a white guy & he turned out to be a complete a-hole, not because he's white, but because he is an a-hole. I don't think we should throw shade on black men who are with white women. I mean it's his choice. It doesn't mean he hates black women or is avoiding them, I have seen millions of gorgeous black women who smash on me every time. That's not the issue though. It shouldn't even come into someone's mind to judge a couple where one is black & the other is white. That honestly makes me sick. I mean that hate is what's wrong with the world. Why can't we get to a point where we see them together & just see a couple. My man is black & the first thing I thought when we started talking was that he is a funny & sweet guy that I want to get to know. Not anything to do with his race, damn. Why do we always have to throw shade ??

1. My side is is that I think it is beautiful for you to create and add to people who look like you. Yes it can still happen with whites but it is not the same. 2. From what I've experienced in corporate, the other group may be surrounded by the dominant group for substantial amounts of time, both at work and with colleagues after hours increasing the distance between his/her own 3. From my teen years into adulthood I had relatives, friends parents and so on encourage me to date whites! This added to my own cognitive dissonance, as I loved black men, but white men were very attracted to me in the workplace and at home. It wasn't until my years in higher ed when I became more aware of the situation that I saw other black men were attracted to me too, but I think it had to do with my increase in self-esteem. 4. No shade to our women, but being honest, some, me included at a time, discriminate VERY harshly against our men that are doing their best. We won't meet them where they are in growth, but would ignore flaws in the other group. 5. People are going to find love where they want to find it, and if it is with a white person it is what it is, I respect your differences, as I don't know the story behind it. 6. The media o.d.'s on the numbers, adding to the "white is right" concept and construct. Personally and spiritually, I need to be with my counterpart from my diaspora for many, many reasons, but that's just me

***** Thank you for this segment. I believe that it stems from the double standards we place on black men and women from day one. You get labeled as being uppity, self-hating, money hungry etc. (applies to black men as well) from what I have experienced and observed over the years. Disclaimer, when I dated outside of my group, my self esteem was very low and thought they were the only group attracted to me. again assuming based on poor relationships with black men. In my opinion, I believe you can find love outside, but a lot venture off due to hurt feelings from the black men they have encountered in that place in time. Another thing I believe they are hesitant about is being misunderstood, or judged by the other group as a whole. They now have to re-adjust and filter certain things done and said to fit in, although this can happen with your own people. One extreme is now believing she has to bash men from her group to remain in the "safe zone" with the other group. You have to mentally prepare yourself, know and love who you are before taking flight

So, there's a show on tv called " married at 1st sight". season3 in the matchmaking session, the expert expressed consern that they were restricted in matching the black men because MOST of them said repeatedly that their preferences are to date outside their race. There is something to be said about the fact the some black men intentionally do not date black women. My thought.... it is the idea of something different that is very fascinating. All in all it still not worth making a big deal out of.

At 4:41, my experience was noted: I've had only one Black woman show any interest in having a relationship with me. (The relationship ended because I needed to cancel a date we had planned, and she tried to order me to go.) I believe I understand why Black women aren't interested in me. Of the many possible reasons: I fit the nerd/hippie/geek description, am in the entertainment industry, and don't hold to any conventions and standards of others. While in high school, living in West Germany helped me to become very eclectic. I've not (yet) met a Black woman I felt compatible with. Most women I've ever had relationships with approached me...

Let's be honest, You deal with your environment. If you live around people of other races and you are a Black Male you deal with the women that like you. Why would deal with women that show no interest in you? My wife is Asian. She was the one that showed me that she had my best interest in her heart. She was the one that showed me what real love is. There was no reason on this earth that I would turn down her love just because she is not Black. Only a fool would turn down someone as kind, understand, beautiful and willing to stand by your side and help you fight against this world no mater what it deals out to both of you! There is only one race. The HUMAN RACE. The sooner everyone learns that the sooner we will all learn to live as one!
