Hey I have 2 1/2 acres and I have an 83 hp John Deere 5083E Limited with a cab. I bought it for pleasure mostly but I do move some very heavy things. My neighbor bought a jewelers safe that weighs 3100 pounds and he’s using it as a gun safe. I put the pallet forks on, lifted it and delivered it right into his garage. He would’ve had to have hired a rigging company to professionally move that safe.

I bought a new BX23S a few years ago from a local dealer and tried to trade it in almost immediately, way too little tractor for what I needed but the salesman was a good salesman. Had nothing but problems with it and wanted to trade it in with under 10 hours on it. I couldn't do it because they were gonna keep about 6 grand for 10 hours of figuring out where the next leak was gonna start and wondering why the backhoe wouldn't scratch the dirt. Even now, two years later with 100 hours primarily as a lawn mower, the third function valve doesn't work and it'll refuse to start every now and then. Your videos were the reason I bought Kubota, but that dealer is why I never will again.

I have 20 acres and have a M7040. If I could do it again, I'd get the biggest tractor I could afford at that time. A few neighbors have newer tractors with all the def, scr, dpf, and alot of headaches too. 1 guy is a JD, other is a kubota like me, other guy has a MF, the newer tractors of any brand seem to have emmission problems. Makes me scared to buy a new 100 plus hp that I can really use.

The discussion about liens is really important. Tractors are nothing like cars, where it is far easier to understand if there is a lien against the vehicle (tractors have no title or registration). It's something to more cautious over - especially if buying private party.

Having an nice machine or brand new ones cool. But they're too expensive. I waited five years looking for a backhoe I was thinking about Kubota used one I was thinking other brands this and that went through everything in my head. Then I found a 1974 case 580b backhoe for $2,300 everybody thought I was freaking crazy it was a biggest hunk of crap on the lot but I saw something. Had to Flatts broken window leaky cylinders it did not look good at all left side door was torched off to get inside it sheet and steering wheel needs to be replaced. But it started up and didn't smoke diesel after another 2500 dollars took care of that and my time fixing it myself so for 5,000 bucks. Everything fixed works like a charm been using for the last three years with no problems now. Now my neighbors want to buy it or rent it for me. Sorry it's a piece of crap remember

My L3200 gear drive was purchased new in 2012, it is a perfect fit but I only put about 30hrs a year on it. I have to have a tractor on hand for chores but my use is limited. I recently added a B2301 loader tractor so I have more capability. I don't expect the annual use to change much but when chores are waiting I need the correct equipment on hand. They will easily last for the future ownership of my rural property. And make having a rural acreage really possible. I did research the size and type of equipment that would be best suited for my land.

Unless there is something on the new model that justifies the extra cost, there is no reason to upgrade. Emissions might be better but the cost will be terrible just for that. Most new features aren't needed unless you are doing something specific that will use that new feature often.

I have a Grand L 4060 and I have yet to realize this things full potential and I have run it through the grinder so far and it keeps delivering the goods. I was running rotary cutter today and day before digging up dirt piles and this Tuesday pulling trees with a hydraulic front end tree puller. tractor just keeps on delivering. And to think I thought I needed a big 100hp tractor but this 40hp is just really delivering the goods. I think a person should give a tractor more time rather than thinking dumb make believe realities that just aren't so.

Thats the same issue we have. We had a 45hp mahindra 4530 6ft shredder. Great tractor, other then the seat becoming unbolted and the marker lights blowing. Everything else worked great. We were second owner. 2 years at 100hrs when we got it. Sold it at 2 years with us and 300hrs. Tractor proved to be too small after we began to have less time. Now, Mahindra 6570 cabin with 12 batwing. Only 20 acres, but the tractor size is whats required with 15 of it clear. Rather spend 8 hours shredding than 2 days (rough ground that thick with grass).

My brother travels quite a distance to buy used with low hours... and he doesn't put more than a few hundred hours a year on the stuff he buys, mostly because "digging dirt" is not his primary business as a landscaper. OTOH, renting or leasing works out to be more money annually than buying right and turning it over again in a few more years. When he gets done with it in 5 years the unit was cared for like he owned it (because he did) and looks mint so he will get a good buck. In the meanwhile, the unit is at the job on HIS schedule and if it needs to sit there for a few days he's not paying rent while waiting for some inspector or supplies to show up. Owning at the right price has advantages!! Examples of where his stuff was previously used might be a horse breeder who basically used it for cleaning up after mucking stalls, or grading a riding rink weekly. Another use he came across was a guy who bought a machine to build his own house, along with the finished landscape. Never left the property and only did a few full weeks of work on the foundation over 2 years time.

It's amazing to me that a) people have the money to buy a tractor just because they like tractors and enjoy running one, and b) people have the money to trade one in at low hours just because it was a little small. As a small farmer, I've had the same machine for 20 years now and still don't have the money to upgrade. Probably never will with the way these prices keep getting higher and our profits are increasingly negative. Times are bad in agriculture, real bad.

My new L2501 gets the job done on my 31 acres since only about 18 acres is pasture, however, I would like to upgrade to a cab tractor at some point. It’s hot as Haiti in TN during the summer. Maybe a Grand L is in my future, but the emissions garbage has really scared me away from bigger new tractors. Perhaps some enterprising individuals will come up with an emissions delete package for the modern tractors? Nobody around here would say anything about doing that, in fact it would increase its resale value by a lot! 😂

I’ve told many many of my friends exactly what you said at the end about financing. In my opinion machines like these are a cash buyers market because like you said when you have to finance, the cost difference is little to none, if not overall more cost for used unit. That’s why I got my L3200 in 2012, local dealer had a L4xxx can’t remember exactly. Initially the used was cheaper, but after I added up the financing, I would have spent approximately $4k more for a used machine. No regrets to this day. It ultimately comes down to being a smart consumer and looking at things from all angles.

Hey, i have a serious question. I was perusing Nebraska's test results, and was shocked to find very few Kubota reports. More to the point, most of the Kubota reports lacked the results of the drawbar tests. What gives? I was looking at results from a 50ish hp tractor with a loader that will lift at least 3k lbs, that would pull 3 16's, a 10' disc, a 9' haybine, safely handle a baler and loaded wagon on hilly ground, as well as a 3pt winch for forestry work. I'm already concerned about the relatively poor hp hr per gallon under load, and low torque rise #'s im seeing. I am now wondering if maybe i won't be able to find a replacement for my well aged tractor that will adequately handle the job, without going to a $100k machine. Any input?

@@MessicksEquip i found the test for the M5700dt. No wonder kubota doesn't submit the smaller tractors to drawbar testing anymore. Oof. I do however feel it's incredibly dishonest that there isn't a disclaimer in the advertising for these tractors, that they are not intended for tractor applications.

Nebraska is one of about 15 labs. You can find more info if you look at those websites. I did a video on it at some point.

@@denisrhodes54 What i have now is better than that, lol. I suppose I'll keep using what i have. Nebraska has copies of a few tests from Japans lab, but there are no drawbar reports.

Fast facts on financing: Currently Americans have a record breaking $14.1 trillion in consumer debt. There is a record shattering $1.3 trillion alone in automotive financing debt. When the second financial crisis comes it will be in big part due to the automotive debt. The average credit score for Americans is 680. The typical American household is in an average debt of $137,000. That’s $51,000 more than in the year 2000. Did you know that many billionaires have poor credit scores? Most don’t have a personal credit history because they don’t have revolving debt. A persons income and net worth do not play a role in calculating credit scores by the three major credit bureaus. Billionaires do not need credit because credit is for poor people. They just don’t need to utilize credit personally and it’s basically an unknown concept to them. Credit scores are given to average people and awarded to them for being in debt and continually in debt. They give you a higher score so that they will take out more loans. Billionaires can afford not to pay certain debts and still get away with it. They are at such a financial level that they can take advantage of any monetary situation and profit on it.

There is truth here. You'd be surprised how many well off people can't get financed because they have no lending history.

@@MessicksEquip I’m just astonished that most Americans went $14.1 trillion into consumer debt. I’ve also noticed that people in their 20s want to make money on Instagram being “influencers” instead of getting real jobs. As in Hollywood that only works for a select few.

@@MessicksEquip yes, but you have sales skills, training in construction equipment, agricultural equipment, turf gear, and training in High end sound equipment. You have a true career, you’re not some millennial with tight pants and gelled hair looking for a free ride while vaping and guzzling Red Bull all night. I live in the north east and I noticed that in the rural farm communities that people are more closely knit together and they care about Folks more. Agricultural and construction guys tend to be a lot nicer and help folks.

There is another reason for low or no hours trade ins I have seen on several occasions. I have seen where a customer is so unhappy with a machine that the manufacturer replaced it with another but before using it they traded it to a competitor dealer for a different make
