Realizing that his calling was not to the priesthood, Tim left the seminary in 1994 and has been working in Catholic apologetics and evangelization ever since.

Why do we put photos of loved ones on desks, cabinets and walls? Surely to remind us of their love, special memories and events. The following post was taken down on some protestant websites, why? Honoring Mary as God's mother is not worshipping her, certainly not in a diety sense. She was the first to say yes to Jesus and became the first Christian as our role model. Just as I sought counseling in their earthly life, I pray to and for my parents seeking them to pray for me, now. Likewise I ask Mary to pray for me, now and at the hour of my death. I'm not Catholic, but I've said for years that it was completely reasonable to use such things as statues, paintings, stained glass windows, jewelry (i.e. crosses), etc. for instructional / inspirational purposes. These are a problem only when people adopt the wrong beliefs towards these things.

I troubles me that too many of my Catholic brothers and sisters “idolize & worship” statues, icons, saints and even the Holy Mother, in addition to our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of Kings. They should be venerated, respect, admired as an example, but not worshiped. Ask for their prayer to the Lord “with your prayer,” but do not ask them to answer your prayers. Go directly to the Lord for your needs as he wants you to, for love, support, help, guidance, and thanks. Note 3,4,5. Those are God’s words. “EXODUS 20 1. And God spoke all these words: 2. I understood that the various icons, those in church and those that we carry on our persons, are to give us a focal point when praying. Under no circumstances to we pray to these icons but they give us a focus as we pray to that person in Heaven. The one that we do not have, and never will, is an icon representing God. Yes, Jesus is God, but his image on the crucifix is of His human side, not His Divine side.

I just don't understand why you needs icons to remind you to pray. That doesn't make any sense. If devotion to God was your normal life style, you wouldn't need something to remind you. Make sense?? Paul (one of the authors of the bible, not sure if you would know that as a catholic) says to pray without ceasing. The Catholic Church is the True Church of Jesus Christ established by Jesus Christ himself over 2,000 years ago with St.Peter as its first Pope. They like to take the whole Bible completely out of context. They like to twist the entire Bible out of epic proportion. They hereby claim that the King James Bible is the only authorized Bible. No,it most certainly is not!! The King James Bible was written in the 16th century. The Catholic Bible was around way before that. The Catholic Bible has 73 books. The protestant Bible has only 66 books. The Catholic Church gave us the Bible. The protestant churches most certainly did not. The King James Bible is very outdated. The Catholic Bible is the only inspired Written Word of God. The Catholic Bible is very infallible. It is very inerrant in its teachings. The protestants hereby claim that praying the Rosary is idolatry. Absolutely positively not!! When we pray the Most Holy Rosary we are reflecting upon the Most Holy Mysteries of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The protestants blatantly accuse us of worshiping statues. We most certainly do not worship statues under any circumstances. They are a reflection of our worship. The Crucifix represents Jesus Christ's Death on the Cross. Jesus Christ died for the remission of our sins. He died a cruel and painful death so that we may have life on this earth. Without him we would not be able to live,breathe and sustain our being. If Jesus Christ hadn't died such a cruel and painful death we would not be alive on this earth today. For by his stripes we are healed. The protestants further ascertain that we should confess our sins to God and not to a priest. For their information: The priest is Gods mediator. Only God has the power to absolve us of our sins and not the priest. Why can't the protestants understand this? It is so relatively simple that even a 5 yr.old child can readily comprehend it. If a 5 yr.old child can readily comprehend it so should the protestants. It is OK for Catholics to attend protestant weddings and funerals. They most certainly should not participate in any protestant services whatsoever. They must be passive observers. Leaving the Catholic Church and joining a protestant church is a grave mortal sin. You are committing apostasy by leaving the Catholic Church and joining a protestant church. Worship in a protestant church does not fulfill the Sunday obligation. You are committing heresy by leaving the Catholic Church and joining a protestant church. You must abide by the teachings of the Catholic Church. You must hold on to your Catholic faith. You must give up that protestant church. That protestant church has absolutely no power at all to help you. You must not succumb to the temptations of the devil. Catholics will vainly appeal to Psalm 136 that alternates the same phrase 26 times with 26 different blessings God gives us. It is not 26 in a row as with the rosary! This is also a song, not a prayer. Revelation 4:8 has "angels singing" not "men praying". There are 53 beads that are "Hail Mary" while only 6, that's right SIX are "Our Father"! Jesus clearly warned against this but just like the Pharisees you refuse to listen have put your faith solely in Jesus Christ! Not a priest, not saints, not Mary, but JESUS CHRIST ALONE! He died for your sins and he offers everlasting life he is the only mediator between you and the father! Going to mass, praying the rosary, constantly confessing to a priest might make you feel good but it's completely anti scripture and if you actually read the Bible instead of googling scripture verses which are either taken out of context or literally do not mean what Catholics have twisted them to mean!

Rev.8:3-4 also mentions similar to 5:8..Unfortunately, Protestants CANNOT make a distinction between an IDOL, (A False God) or an IMAGE, (Which represents something or someone) These Images/Statues/Paintings/Drawings reminds us of God, Jesus, Mary, Angels and Saints. Statues aren't idols my friend; idols are created to worship and Catholics don't worship any statue or image. Your verse doesn't do anything to disprove the point that it is acceptable to have an item of remembrance no matter it's form as long as it isn't an item of worship or superstition. The prohibition is only given in context of worship. Otherwise God would have sinned against Himself when He gave Moses the command to greate graven images on multiple occasions.

Well, I'll try to answer you truthfully to the best of my ability. Graven images are worshipped as if they were gods in themselves. This is idolatry. Catholics in no way believe the holy pictures themselves and statues themselves are gods (idols.) Catholics worship only God. Hence there is no idolatry. Until very recently in History, the majority of people were illiterate. The statues and paintings were the Bible written in stone, paint and glass for them. By looking at them, they would be reminded of what the Bible said, for themselves and for their children. Many who made the statues and paintings did them as an act of love for God, to make God's house, the church building, as beautiful as they could so that it would be worthy of Him. The high ceilings in cathedrals and the tall windows that draw the eye up to heaven and to God. In the windows there are biblical and saintly people and scenes. Wherever you look, you're meant to be drawn to God through beauty and the uplifting of the heart and soul. Same with religious hymns and music. Everything in a church points you to Jesus and to God. The catechism is a list, if you will, of what Catholics believe. There are Bible verses and explanations to allow Catholics and other people to understand these dogmas and beliefs more fully. I would like to share with you part of my testimony...(as it's too long to post here) the time when God delivered me out of roman catholicism, God showed me, thru dreams, the reasons why God forbade us from having graven images /statues! Here's part of my testimony.... " I was especially fond of this one big special picture of Jesus which was so amazing...most beautiful and loving face of our Lord Jesus. I bought the picture from Medjugorje (Yugoslavia)! The face of Jesus in that picture, was incredible...as His eyes looked so alive and most loving! I pasted it on the glass window (altar) above the ledge in one of my room which I used as my altar room! However one day, about 8 years ago, (counting from the time I wrote this testimony)...I had an extremely strange dream about that picture! In my dream, I was kneeling in front of the picture, praying to God while looking at the beautiful face of Jesus; when suddenly the picture, became like smoky; then...when the smoke dissipated, I got a shock of my life because instead of seeing the face of Jesus, it was the face of satan I was looking at and he was looking at me with such fierce countenance...with total hatred and anger...almost like he wanted to rip me apart...then frantically, I just kept calling..."Jesus...Jesus...Jesus...!" Then once again the picture became smoky...and it was back to the face of Jesus; after which I immediately woke up from that horrifying dream and wondered what on earth all that meant! I decided to shrug it off, thinking that it meant nothing...just a silly old dream and thought nothing of it! (I'll continue more later about the meaning of that dream which Jesus revealed to me, eight years later...counting from the time I wrote this!)..... ..............Now back to the dream I had before, Jesus put it back into my memory, (which at that time did not make any sense to me...but it sure did now! The Lord spoke in my spirit and explained to me: "This is why I gave the Command, not to have any kind of graven image, statue, idol or picture of anything or anyone...nor bow to them... because satan and his demons are the ones that occupy and hide themselves inside and behind all these idols...from the start satan longed for worship and he will do anything to deceive mankind by masquerading into someone heavenly or sent by Me!"

We all just number them differently because the text in Genesis does not make it clear how to number the commandments. All Catholics know about the prohibition against graven images. They just do not think that prohibition applies because they do not worship the statues or the Christians depicted by the statues. It is just like many many Protestant churches which often have little statues in their manger scenes during the Christmas season. If you accused a Protestant of worshiping the little statues of the Three Wise Men in the manger scene, he would laugh and tell you it was just a manger scene!
