I've always found deep sea creatures so fascinating! it's amazing how adaptations to high pressure, low light, and lower nutrients are represented in these organisms

I find all the creatures so flipping fascinating. They all want to survive just like any other creature on this beautiful earth. We are so lucky to have these wonderful scientists to study and share their knowledge with us. How neat is that!

Thank you so much for the ID video! I was going to ask what the transparent amphipod-like creature at 1:00 was - it was an amphipod, of course!

Everytime there's need for invasive medical diagnostics I want translucency so bad - so they don't have to look into my child (or rarely me). I also wouldn't mind a little lantern dangling over my head. But I would like to be able to switch the light off. More and separate brains would occasionally be great. Fast colour changing to let others know unambiguously what you feel could be helpful. Or fast colour change to quickly blend into surroundings. Definitely more arms. I think four would do the trick. Two very different eyes adapted perfectly to different challenges like Histioteuthis heteropsis. One to read in any light and proximity and the other perfectly adapted to speed and colour for example. And from land animals a kangaroo pouch and definitely a prehensile tail. I would look so weird!🖖🤗

I watch videos like this and I'm constantly awestruck by just how the environment shapes the form of everything that lives within it. My appreciation for the beauty of life grows with each video, and hearing such passionate people talking about the creatures they study fills me with a joy I have difficulty describing

Deep sea animals. Earth's own extraterrestrial species that live in the ocean's depths. Yes, they look weird. But also unique for their appearance. If they lived on land, they wouldn't adapt very well.

Monterey Bay Aquarium was such an amazing and magical place for me as a kid, and deep sea creatures are one of my favorite things to learn about. I live on the other side of the country now, but I'm going to do everything in my power to visit the Into The Deep exhibit when it opens.

I'm blown away how good the cinematography is (especially some real close-ups) done by using ROVs! And I wonder - if illumination is used - doesn't it completely blind these creatures who live in darkness?

Really incredible footage in this video. It's so amazing to live on the same planet as these wacky guys, and so special to learn more about them from folks with so much enthusiasm! Sometimes, late at night, I think about things like the chimaera or vampire squid and wonder what else lives deep in the ocean that we have yet to discover. Earth is a planet fulla weirdos!

It's exceptionally strange to hear people refer to them as 'prey items' rather than just prey. It actually feels wrong to the point of inaccurate to itemize a creature that's being devoured by another. Feels almost like a lack of respect for nature rather than acknowledging its wonder, it's very strange. I've never heard that term until now. I feel like it's more of that "shell shock' becoming 'battle fatigue' language George Carlin called out... tossing 'item' afterwards attempting to soften the mental image of something being eaten alive in nature.

Zebras and flamingos ARE weird looking. So are humans, when you really think about it: pale, hairless, worm-like creatures with gangly appendages. I'm curious about the term "deep sea"... Shouldn't it be "deep ocean"? I thought a _sea_ was a nearly landlocked body of water.

I feel so lost because I don't know what pronouns that anglerfish demands we use. And what about that Huboldt squid?! Unless 'they' identify as a grey squirrel or something. I just don't know. Could you guys(?) fix that? Thanks
