My dear friends ❤️As you can see from the comments, this is not the first version of my video. The thing is that due to my lack of foresight, I interviewed a journalist whose views I do not share at all and which I don't want to promote. It happened because I have been working every day seven days a week for several months and I was in too much of a hurry to make this video before leaving Russia. I promise to do a more detailed research before my next videos. I make it clear in every video that I am against the war in Ukraine and absolutely do not support the Russian government. I am just a person who made a mistake and admitted it. Hope for your understanding. Please watch this video before making any assumptions- kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXPTq2d8Zp2io7c Much love, Dari

I understand your dilemma, but 'Normal people' are not employed by Russian state media. It's literally her job to spread viewpoints such as this. Nothing in her interview can be considered sincere or factual because it's her job to present a particular viewpoint.
@dan_hitchman007

Dari, I understand, but I would truly suggest that you do a different interview with a normal, average person and cut Rachel out of the video entirely. I have been looking over her KZbin channel after seeing your video, and what I watched would curl your toes. Given your opinion on certain topics you would probably think a lot less of Rachel after seeing her videos and think twice about prominently featuring her in yours. If Rachel wasn't a lady, I would probably slap her for some of the truly despicable things she spouts. FYI

I'm sure that you could have found someone other than Rachel. Out of all the available people who could have been interviewed, _why choose Rachel?_ It's hard to believe that you wouldn't have known that this would upset many of your subscribers! (That being said, it's your right to do whatever you want with your channel.)

@@William_Hada But with Rachel you need to do a bit more digging. Why would someone from America willingly work for RT and move to Russia no less after having that media station outed as a propaganda arm of the Russian government? I think the red blinking warning sign would be enough for me to vet the person, but I'm not as young and as impressionable as Dari. With age comes wisdom.

Dasha... Что ЭТО было: 12:54?? As a fellow English-speaking Russian KZbinr, I have supported you throughout, even when you were saying nothing. Back then, I even defended you in the comments because I figured you didn't feel like you could SPEAK freely, but your HEART was in the right place. I want to believe the latter to still be the case, given your previous statements and causes you've supported. However, this overt inclusion of an RT propagandist who is an open Z-patriot is INDEFENSIBLE. Just like I spoke out against the war, I must denounce the voices of those who support it. As a content creator, I hate to say this, but I agree with those who are calling for you to remove that part of the video. If you decide to re-make it, I hope you would also consider a more balanced analysis of safety for foreigners in Russia, with examples of those who _did_ leave. Take care! Olga (and Lenny).

INDEFENSIBLE is exactly what it is! And a stick in the eye to those of us who have supported Dari’s channel! Incredibly, Dari seems to have forgotten how her own friend, Sophia Clare, left Russia last year because she feared for her safety as a foreigner. Dari didn’t even mention it. Why?… It seems I was right when I expressed my misgivings about Dari’s passive-aggressive silence last year. I, too, kept coming back to her channel because I believed (or wanted to believe) her heart was still in the right place. But seeing Dari gush and fawn over a Z propagandist was sickening, and I’m done giving her the benefit of the doubt. At this point it’s not even enough for Dari to remove that part of the video, she needs to come clean and explain how she found this individual (did “Rachel” seek Dari out? Or did Dari seek “Rachel” out?) and explain why she thought giving a platform to a Z propagandist was a good idea.

LOL at least this edited version has cut out the lady (I use that term loosely) who's name will not be typed on my keyboard. 2 questions Dari: 1) Who gave you the recommendation for your 3rd guest? You said it was a friend. Do they have a presence on social media? 2) Who filmed your interview with the aforementioned guest i.e who was behind the camera? Just trying to clear up some loose ends here with this whole sorry saga. And to the Indian guy. I partially agree with his comments about London. I don't actually enjoy the city that much myself. However, he concludes his assessment that Moscow is safer than London because he has never faced any racism or been mugged. That's fair enough but there are other forms of violence that are rife in Moscow. For example, has your friend heard about the epidemic of people falling to their death from high-placed windows in Moscow, has he heard about the assassination of Boris Nemtsov, has he heard about...? I could go on and on but I'd be here all day. To demonstrate how safe Moscow really is please ask your friend to go to Red Square and hold up a blank sign and then let me know what happens. And finally he is moving his family to Serbia who, according to worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/most-racist-countries, was voted the 2nd worst country for racial equality in 2020. We also know the risk of you and your family talking about politics and despite that many time your shared with us your opinion. I lived in Russia twice for a total of four years. I enjoyed my time there. But I would not live there now. I can't live among people who condone genocide. And I won't live somewhere where you can be arrested for standing on a street corner holding up a blank sheet of paper. I saw the direction Russia was heading when I left in December 2013. Putin was a much darker guy when he returned to the presidency. And Russia is now completely repressive in a way that it was not when I last left in December 2013. As a foreigner I generally refrain from commenting on politics when I am a guest. But when people ask me what I think, I am honest. Russia is totally screwed up now. How could you think of having kids in Russia when you see the brainwashing going on in Russian schools. If you want your kids to grow up to be kind, thoughtful and empathetic people, don't raise them in Russia. Parents can only do so much. When the whole society is geared towards turning children into genocidal sociopaths, there isn't much you can do as a parent to prevent it. Videos of kids in school as young as six or seven field stripping an AK rifle are appalling. And there is zero future for kids growing up in Russia today. Anyone with a brain realizes that. The economy is in the process of imploding. Russia is burning through the national wealth fund and gold and currency reserves. Russia will exhaust reserves by early 2024 and then Russians will get a reality check. There is nothing in Russia's future but isolation and impoverishment.There is a reason why all of the elites have their kids living overseas. Even Putin's young children live in Switzerland. And as for the girl who works for RT, I am just appalled at this Kremlin propagandist. And the notion that US media is fear based is absurd. Does she ever watch Solovyov, Kiselyov, Skabeeva, or Simonyan? Maybe she does not if she can't speak Russian. Russian media is insane. But if she worked for RT for four years she knows that everyone there lies for a living. I have no use for liars. Unfortunately she probably has a future in Right Wing media when she returns to the States because lying is part of the job description.

Maybe it was unclear to you what was the foreign press was trying to related about it not being safe for foreigners. The real question to ask about being safe is: Are you willing to risk staying here in Russia, knowing that you can be mobilized just like any other Russian citizen and there is nothing you can say or do, nor can your (former) motherland do to get you out of it? This is a good video with opinions of different people. Even during the Cold War in the 1980s people studied Russian language and went to Moscow to do so. It's not really surprising to me that people give prioritiy to personal goals and not just rush away and leave Moscow. The situation is different for male Russians and for obvious reasons. The strangest Russian language student I ever talked to was a female US Army soldier. She only learned what she called herself "Weather Russian", and she was stationed in West-Berlin around 1985. Her job was to listen, translate and record the Soviet radio weather forecasts of many locations from Baku to Murmansk. This was of military importance to know, and if the Soviets had stopped such forecasts or if they had faked them, it would have been an indicator of some bad intentions. The US had satellites to check the actual weather in all the places. Wars do indeed start on sunny days.

I just want to say there is nothing to blame you for and please don't take none of it personal! I agree the last person is probably pro Putin 😛 (have never seen or heard about her). But I have seen other western influencers/youtubers that are telling the russian stories (propaganda), and I just get a big laugh about how sureal and wrong they are. Besides Dari, I know how much you and your friends have done for "**********". I understand how difficult it is for you and the others to walk a fine line between making videos and going to jail. This video seems to have backfired for reasons that was never intended in the first place. @@smlorrin No thank you, I have no need to know more about who Rachel is or what she do. I've seen plenty about twisted stories that ignore the truth, facts, evidence etc. Dari interviewed a person who's reputation alone have already done enough damage to her channel/image by making people sink into this debate of right/wrong. Dari did not knowingly/willingly wish to promote Rachel or what she represent and she has made that very clear in the follow up video. Therefore I see no need for a debate about Rachel being in this video, because if Dari had known what she knows now - SHE WOULD NEVER HAD INVITED RACHEL IN THE FIRST PLACE. I've seen ALL of Dari's videos, posts, shorts, Insta, and in that context there is nothing that justifies this kind of treatment/judgement of Dari. So I will leave it here because no one can solve this argument anyway. Forse sono sotto controllo e sono costrette ad intervistare persone di Russia Today o RT. Hello Daria. Congratulations for your super interesting video. I would like to make a comment on Rachel's words. She says she is a journalist. How is it possible for a journalist to mention that she found out these months how real life in Russia is because the media shows everything in a different way. But she is part of the media! Even my mom, who is not a journalist, knows that she should not watch only tv in order to form an opinion. There are plenty of ways out there, INTERNET is the main one, that can help us form a correct or a "closer to reality" opinion. All i want to say is that i visited Moscow for the first time some years ago and it was exactly as i had expected. I did the same some months ago, it was exactly as i was expecting. No surprises at all. We live in 2023. We can be informed in so many different ways in 2023. We just open KZbin (as it is our host here today and i should thank it for giving me the chance to express my opinion), we can see so many videos of people who live in Moscow or other cities of Russia and we can form an opinion. We don't watch only one, we watch many. The more, the better. So simple.

Just to clarify. In the West, this death and destruction that continues in Ukraine is not a Russian 'thing'. We see this War on Ukraine a s being part of Putin's ongoing interference and in some cases invasion in many of the 14 countries that along with Russia once made up the failed USSR. In most instances the trade sanctions imposed by the West on Russia are not expected to have any immediate effects on the Russian people, but then sanctions are a long term imposition on Russia. Similarly, this continued death and destruction that Putin has imposed on the people of Ukraine and Russia will also have a long term effect on both Ukrainian and Russian people. This War in Ukraine is seen by most in the West as Putin's War not so much Russia's War.

I see from the other more recent video you've put up that you're listening to what people say.. So edit this video and cut out the RT woman completely - don't even name her. The interview with her cannot be fixed because you didn't ask the critical questions that were needed. In the edited video, replace her section with a brief apology and explanation for people who return to the video having already seen it. A good apology can achieve great things if you acknowledge your naivety and hope to grow and learn.. But to be honest, it's going to be difficult to get it right. Someone - maybe Natasha - should review the apology to get it just right.

I think the American's affiliation with RT (everyone knows it as a propaganda outlet) was skewing her opinions on media portrayal of Russia in the US --is just not the case. Media separates Putin and his propaganda machine from Russia and Russians in general. Moscow or St. Petersburg and other cities... are portrayed as pretty much normal. I personally wouldn't be afraid of being in Russia and the Russians I know here in the US don't fear being in the US.

As an American *I am NEVER in favor of censorship.* I have noticed that even among Russians who decry this behavior in their government, they immediately use this tactic themselves. It is a fundamental difference between authoritarian mindsets verses the outlook of truly free people, who respect other people enough to leave the decisions up to them. It is OK to limit what you show to a young child, but in a free society we treat fellow adults with respect.

@@smlorrin Well, there is a lot that I do not know about how things work in today's Russia and I can only guess what was going on when this video was filmed. But it may be a good idea to recall what things used to be like in Soviet times when you never knew who was working for the KGB and who was not. Your lovely neighbour could very well be a secret spy, and it could be that he/she really was a lovely person in principle but felt forced for one reason or another to do work for the KGB. There are too many things in this video that fail to make sense if you take them at face value.

@@MattiasWikstrom I wholeheartedly agree. I'm not saying that this is the case, but it's possible that she was forced to do this because of something that she wanted or needed. Hi Dari! I am sorry this is such a controversial post for you due to your interview with Rachel. However, though I believe that everyone has a right to their own opinion, my opinion about Rachel and the “media” company she works for is VERY negative. I believe Rachel has chosen not to be an impartial journalist, but a mouthpiece of the Kremlin. So find it laughable when she critiques wester or American media, as if the RT is fair-minded, balanced journalism . . . it is not. I’ve visited Russia several times long prior to the war. I do find Moscow and St. Petersburg very safe, with the exception of crossing streets, driving, avoiding pick-pockets at rail stations, second hand cigarette smoke, and getting on and of subway cars without getting jostled around. I live in Washington DC, so I do think Moscow is safer . . . but I disagree with Rachel’s comment that there is more of a sense of community in Moscow than DC. I also disagree with the idea that there is less of a homeless problem in Moscow than in DC, from my experience there are many homeless and pensioners begging in the streets and open markets of Moscow. Maybe they are less noticeable, but they are there and in numbers. I do agree with you, Daria, that there is more to the people and culture of Russia than who is ruling in the Kremlin. I’ve always generally found Russians to be harm-hearted (especially to foreigners even in comparison to each other), hard working, and intelligent. I know many Russians living in the USA, all of them critical of Putin and his War, and my daughter is half Russian . . . and learning the language from her amazingly nice Russian, Russian language teacher here in the States. I think the difficulty with perspectives about Russia in the USA and probably most of the West, is that Russians in Russia, mostly good and normal people individually, are not being politically active to both learn the truth or stand in opposition to the Kremlin and Putin’s war. This Russian inability (of most, certainly not all) to understand that their life is undeniably linked to the politics of the State is frustrating and essential ties all Russians who have either not be jailed or have tried to leave or have left the country to the crimes of the Kremlin. This is so sad to me because, obviously apart for the Ukrainian people who are unquestionably the primary victims of this unnecessary and senseless war, the Russian people and the value of their lives in the cold and imperialist eyes of the State (Putin) are being callously sacrificed on mass just to serve the ego of one man. It’s so tragic. Anyway, that’s my thoughts. As for your channel, Dari, I know where your sympathies lay and I look forward to seeing more of your posts, hopefully with no more RT propagandists included.

Excellent vlog. It’s nice to see ordinary people who are living and working in Russia. Most people don’t support Putin but that does not mean we should hate all Russians. Likewise many people across the world did not support Trump but that did not cause them to hate all Americans. Ultimately we have all got to try and live together, peacefully resolve disputes, or disagreements, and create a more caring, fairer and ecologically better world 🌏🕊️✌️
