Great to catch up with your life. Looks like it's gonna be hard to land that great job as you are at a disadvantage compared to others due to your circumstances. However I wish you good luck and hope fortune smiles on you soon! You will be a great asset to any company if given the chance.

Best of luck, Dari, in your job search.🤞At least you have a good idea of what you're looking for, much better than I did when I emerged from college. In my mid 20's I never realized how important those first few job decisions were on my career path; No pressure, right? Lol. Keep on believing, 😊

Ok so why do you want to go to a corporate job ? You're a youtuber, if you focus on your channel in a few years your income will be higher than those corporate jobs . You'll manage your own schedule, you'll be your own boss. I don't get, why do you want to go corporate ? You're doing an mba ? fine, start your own company then.

I got to be honest, a lot of those top jobs in NYC are done by friends and family connections by people who already live there. When they see you are foreign, they are not going to like it too much. However maybe you can apply to some place where foreign experience and the Russian language is a plus. I think you might have some more success in some other cities, because New York is too popular nowadays. Too many people with good degrees go there. And a graduate degree looks more impressive in some other cities. But I guess you can try for a while, and you might get lucky.

Just to give you a little anecdote. My roommate from college did not get good grades in college and took a long time to graduate. In fact she almost flunked out several times, but somehow she persisted and made it. Then she moved home to northern New Jersey after college. And the next I heard, she already had a really good job working for a large well known media company. I kind of wondered how she did that, because she didn't have good grades and I wouldn't say she had a particular good look or was very well spoken. I didn't hear her about her many interviews with all these companies. Yet she still managed to find a top job right away, when I was still struggling to find a good job, even though I had better grades than her in college. She finally admitted that her father was business associates and friends with one of the higher up at the company and he recommended her for that job. So her father got her the job there. Then I met some of her young co-workers, and it seemed like they had the same situation going on. Their family knew somebody at the company. So that's how it's done. It's a lot of connections. Edit- And I just wanted to comment, that it's also because these jobs are prized jobs. It's living the good life in New York City, working a job that really doesn't take that much specific skill. Everybody wants those jobs, and of course it's the relatives of people who already know each other, who get the jobs. The families want to scratch each other's backs. Now if it's something like engineering or computer science, then it's less about family connections.

One different possibility to consider is applying at a top school for another degree program. I have found over the years that some of the best jobs, like at Goldman Sachs, are only available to graduates of the top five or so business schools. I would also focus on jobs that would benefit from your international experiences. Best of luck.

@@DariStep I based my comment on an interview that I had with Goldman Sachs many years ago. I am glad that it appears that things have changed for the better. By the way, the person who interviewed me did not attend one of the top schools. As I recall, he mentioned that he had some kind of special qualifications. So, there are always exceptions to the rule, and you are an exceptional person in my opinion.

Two of the job postings you showed were mid-senior level... which likely requires 5+ years of experience. I am not trying to be negative, but you may have to start with lower-level positions. An MBA is not a differentiator when people only look at your resume/CV (meaning, they do not know you). Experience at recognizable companies is far more valuable when getting started, probably at a lower level than you might desire (though I am not sure how sponsorship would work at lower levels). Also, I started my career at PwC 🙂

@@DariStep Cool. It is great to have options. Especially if they will sponsor you. That being said, it is good to show confidence in yourself and go for higher levels...just show a strong willingness to learn and make them have zero doubt you will learn quickly and add value soon by working hard.

@@davidb3738 Some companies worked on a fiscal-year basis. For them, October 1st was the starting date for new projects to staff and strive for in the new year. Before then, they often needed to "close out" the fiscal year, looking good by reducing problems still outstanding or at least having hired someone competent to keep the problems under control.

@@DariStep Thanksgiving holidays are also the most significant reconnection time for many people in the U.S.A. Many people fly homebound and chat with friends and relatives. All of the Canadians I had worked with before were using the H1B visa. Corporations wanted to have *VISA-CHAINED* employees for years in those days. I also worked with the ones not from Canada and some hadn't got their permanent residency card after more than five years. I think that the law was amended to allow for changing jobs by now (i.e. not working for the H1B-sponsoring employer, even if due to a layoff, makes the person an *ILLEGAL* immigrant after a short grace period {maybe a month ?}, if caught, the former employee would become liable to be deported and barred from reentry, and any future immigration to the U.S.A.) The smaller businesses are usually extremely hectic surviving, (by competing against the bigger corporations which bribe the politicians to pass laws in their favor and avoid competition; the antitrust laws of the department of justice haven't been enforced for decades already; both major parties sold the working class out for "political contributions") so they didn't have time to deal with the immigration paperwork and legal issues. They just hire the people already here (legal or illegal). Remember that a convicted felon can lead the Free World. Behold the power of God ! 😂😊
