Why do Guitarists buy SO many OVERDRIVES!?

C'mon, isn't really cause we just don't want to practice!?!?

Ive seen this rabbit hole with players, It's like "I'll start practicing more when I get this or that " Or "I need A, B and C and then I can be a better player." ( A,B and C being a better guitar, Pedal or amp etc) Collecting the gear then outweighs the importance of practicing and moving forward with their guitar journey.

Ya, try as we might to deny it, this worms its way into many of our journeys. Is there a difference between this rabbit hole and ‘just wanting something’? I absolutely, positively DO NOT NEED another amp and yet I’m jonesing for the Friedman Jake E Lee amp, lol.

Hey OG you are of course correct. But man its a hard habit to stop. Especially if you see a sweet used deal. Just bought another guitar i definitely didnt need!

For me, I get bored with my tone easily and want to try something different. Or I’m curious to see how an expensive pedal might stack up against an affordable one. I should probably just be plugging straight into the amp more often 😂

I get you, and I’m guilty of the same, hence a few more ODs than I really need… change is good and it keeps me out of the bars. That old law of familiarity !! Best reason in the world for owning more than one amp, lol.

You can never have too many Overdrive pedals that's why 😂 They sound different just like guitars. I like your new Strat! Sounds very good. Is it Player Series?

I suppose you’re right, haha. Yes, YJM player series. I scalloped an ESP in the 80s and really enjoyed it. I figure ‘everyone’ needs a Strat, so why not this one. It’s the only I’ve tried that doesn’t make me wan to swap out the bridge pickup immediately.

Hi Matt, we’re just all so addicted that it’s sick… it’s gotta stop, lol. Delay eh? The Halo is awfully fun and the mini Donner (blue color) is really great for a mini board.

​@@oldguyjammin9732I have a Halo! And I'm no Angel.. I also have a Keeley Echoes (discontinued Echorec style pedal) and a Keeley ME-8 multi-echo. That one is a real Swiss army knife. 3 different delays (analog, tape, digital with subdivisions), 2 ADT modes (vintage/modern), and 3 reverbs (including what would eventually become his Gold Star Reverb). It's always on my board

@@oldguyjammin9732 believe it or not I have their Reverb Machine and that Echo Machine? It's awesome! I have the Line 6 Echo Park and the Echo Machine is based on that, if not an outright clone. I noticed a NUX Atlantic in the back, yes? I'm thinking of getting another after I sold mine. It was my main delay/reverb pedal for almost 3 years. I recently sold my beloved and incredibly rare VFE Yodeler (that one still hurts, but I needed the $) which is a wonderful reverb/delay that combines analog-voiced delay with a lush reverb - in parallel. One of the things about the Atlantic I particularly liked was the ability to run the delay and reverb in parallel, as well as switch the order when running them in serial.

Thanks man, she’s a beaut! I have to change up my right hand technique a bit but I’m getting used to it. Played my LP yesterday and it felt really strange having all that wood under my fingers, lol.
