@@the1337fleet I used to be plagued with migraines. I did spine shots, which worked once and made it worse once. It took years of good chiropractor care, and for years they would come right back if I went without care for too long. Now though, it's been years since I went. I miss it and could use it, but my migraines haven't come back. In the last 5 years, I think I've had 3? MAYBE 5? When I stopped hurting and my body worked better, I sttted being more active and ABLE to take care of my health. So chiropractic care helped me make lifestyle changes (active, sleep position, etc) to help my bones stay where they needed to be, and my muscles do what they need to do. Like most health problems, the real "fix" is multilayered. But I needed that part of it, no doubt! I'm so glad you've gotten better too. Migraines are a beast, and have multiple sources we're still learning. I don't know - maybe there's migraine sources that will not respond to chiropractor visits. I could see that if it's hormonal or etc. But it sure seems worth a sustained try! (Note to anyone thinking about this - the chiropractor visits actually flared everything up at first, and made it worse. If that happens, maybe please don't give up? Give it maybe a month? It is normal, and it will very likely get better, or your care provider can adjust care, stuff like that.👍)

I extremely unhelpfully vomited a bunch when I got dehydrated, which is the opposite of what I needed because it a) dehydrated me more and b) prevented me from ingesting (and therefore replenishing) water. Turns out if you don't drink enough water it drops your blood pressure, which means your brain doesn't get enough blood, which apparently can cause some nasty vertigo. The doctor gave me meds to stop the dizziness (didn't work) and the vomiting (did work, but didn't stop the feeling of nausea), then sent me home with the instruction to drink water. That is probably the worst I have ever felt in my entire life. Sometimes I think about how if I hadn't gotten myself to a doctor, or if I'd lived before modern medicine, I would've probably died. 0/10 would not recommend dehydration
@wendys95002 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Glad you could recover. How dehydrated do you have to be to experience this? *nervously chugs water*
@georgelaidlaw37482 жыл бұрын
@@wendys9500 so pretty bad. You start to get this at around 5 - 8% total water loss. Over 10% is where things start to get really bad and you risk permanent injury or death. That said it is easy to get this dehydrated on a hot day, doing strenuous physical activity or by not drinking fluids (typically to avoid trips to the loo if that is difficult). The intense vomiting is more unusual though. Side-note: drink water regularly anyway. Chronic mild to moderate dehydration increases your risk of a whole bunch of medical problems including UTIs and kidney problems (infections, stones and non-infective AKI/CKI). Try to keep fluids up throughout the day and avoid periods of fluid restriction.
@harmonicaveronica2 жыл бұрын
@@wendys9500 this didn't just come out of nowhere, there was a lot of lead up. I was walking about 20 minutes to and from work every day in the summertime, and I was working in a restaurant kitchen. It wasn't in the hot part of the kitchen but it was still plenty warm, and I didn't have time to sit down or really use the bathroom for about 8 hours. I would often feel dead tired when I got to work - like I could fall asleep standing up. So I would drink some coke because it had caffeine, and would usually feel a bit better. Turns out that was happening because of dehydration, and coke helped not because of caffeine but because of liquid. Then one day I got really dizzy and started throwing up so I went home and called around to get someone to take me to a doctor because those were symptoms I didn't recognize so clearly I needed someone to tell me what was wrong with me and make it stop. The vomiting was not a direct effect of dehydration but a secondary symptom caused by the intense vertigo, which I don't think happens in all cases of dehydration. If you get an unexplained dull headache or feel intensely tired for no particular reason, it's past time to drink water. But otherwise just drink when you're thirsty! Your water needs will vary from day to day depending on your physical activity and how much water-rich food you eat
@JonMartinYXD2 жыл бұрын
I had something similar once. Instead of sending me home they kept me in the ER overnight and pumped a few bags of saline into me. Plus x-rays and blood tests just to be sure it wasn't something worse and some drugs to make me more comfortable. Spending the night in ER is no fun, but I'll take the added safety of having my status and recovery being monitored.
@DogDogGodFog8 ай бұрын
Yup. I had the norovirus somewhat recently and vomited and diarrhea'd a lot. It caused my body to become so dehydrated to the point where standing up for even 1 second would instantly make my vision blur and my ears ring, and I would lose my balance. At one point I actually fell over and hit my head on the edge of a shelf made out of ceramic tile, which obviously produced a bloated bruise that stayed on my forehead for about a week. Not to mention the fact that standing up for 1 second typically required a 30 minute recovery time. So, yes, after each 1 second standup, I'd have to sit down for about 30 minutes for my blood pressure to recover from that 1 second stand.

I don't vomit that often, although it is rare for there to be a year with no vomiting at all. I've had a few things cause me to vomit over the past 2 decades. The most common of these is a stomach virus. I've only had diarrhea a few times from said stomach virus, but I always get nausea and vomiting with it. And if I drink water while I'm sick to my stomach, even small amounts, my stomach can't handle it and I throw up dilute acid, so I avoid water when I have a stomach virus. Only fluids I can safely take in while I have a stomach virus without any worry of vomiting it back up as long as I sip it is lemon-lime soda, like 7UP or Sprite. I also had a really bad case of acid reflux as a teenager. I mean, I usually didn't feel anything, and when I did, it was usually gas, lots of gas. However, this acid reflux came with an increased nocturnal thirst. If I drank water to satisfy that nocturnal thirst, I would get nauseous and then vomit up dilute acid + the medicine I took(I'm an epileptic, so I have to be on nightly meds) and whatever food was left in there. The one time I had appendicitis that wasn't from a blockage, I vomited once and had nausea throughout(it was that vomiting + pain that made me worried, and when the nausea and pain persisted the next morning, my mom drove me to the ER. Many hours later I get a CT scan with contrast(had an abdominal ultrasound a few weeks prior because of pain in the same area, negative, even the ovarian cysts that it turns out I had and still do have did not show up on ultrasound) and a couple bright areas show up around the ovary and appendix. Only the tip of my appendix was inflamed, and there was no blockage, so the doctors felt safe admitting me and doing surgery in the morning. The next morning, I have my surgery, and still, only the tip is inflamed. The surgeon did however see cysts on my ovary and said that that's probably what caused most of the pain I was having. Didn't do anything about the cysts though, as they were simple cysts with clear fluid. I still get ovarian cyst pain sometimes, and I can generally tell it apart from ovulation pain because the ovarian cyst pain has a sharper onset and then gets crampy whereas ovulation pain is crampy with a duller, but still noticeable onset.

For the first part it might be because soft drinks/ gas drinks are good for that

I love food so much (and am extremely food fixated in general) that when I was a little kid, I would eat so much and so fast that I would throw up, feel bad, then eat more. I can't really tell if I'm full unless I'm nauseous and on the verge of barfing anyway so I'm very prone to this at places like buffets

I'm not sure how much of a problem this is in your everyday life, but if this is causing you issues (uncontrolled weight gain, eating to the point of discomfort every day, etc) you may want to talk to a doctor/therapist/dietician. It isn't normal to not have hunger cues, and that could be caused by underlying physiological OR psychological problems. But of course if you get by in your day to day life without it bothering you, then just keep doing what you're doing - it's your body, after all!

There was this old-timey chorus my mom wanted to see when I was relatively young. Three times she took me with her to their performances and every time we had to leave early because I started vomiting violently. I'm a person that rarely vomits, in fact I don't think I've vomited once in over 20 years. Does that mean my brain thinks old songs are dangerous?

I've vomited quite a lot in my life, with the highest concentration being last fall, around the time my shoulder got too cold at night and hurt like a b*tch for weeks. Was likely due to headaches, because when I don't eat anything for ~10 hours, I tend to get headaches, so around 4pm, things start to get bad for me some days. Then I throw up in the evening, and everything is fine. On the plus side, now I can tell 15-20 minutes in advance when the next purge is coming, so I can prepare.

Did your vision get blurred because of the blood in your vitreous?
@Omnywrench2 жыл бұрын
@@lucasqwert1 Oh no, it was just a subconjunctival hemorrhage (AKA red eye),. The vessel burst just under the surface of my eye, making the sclera turn red. It's basically an eyeball bruise. They're harmless and don't affect your vision, but it took like two weeks for it to go away.

02:35 - Hey, *I* am not nauseous, ever, I hope! I am from time to time nauseated though. Yes, I know, yet another case of common mis-usage trumping spelling/grammar/etymology and making it even more difficult to be sure of what people actually mean.

@TheCoaler2 жыл бұрын
That may be a factor, but a big part of it is also just that the plant matter can induce nausea, and seratonin agonists can bind to 5HT3A receptors, causing further discomfort.

I haven't puked in 14 years! Last time I puked was because I got food poisoning from bad biscuits. The experience was so dreadful, I have been careful not to eat anything that I suspect of being bad even the slightest bit. The funny thing is, I've overbinged and been wasted drunk and have had terrible hangovers so many times, yet I've still puked even once. There have been close calls a couple of times, but I have powered through them all.

My body on the other hand seems to have trouble vomiting and it scares me that I might poison myself and not be able to survive because of it
@brianbuddy2ACP3 ай бұрын
I remember one time, I managed to go 2 and a half years without getting anything that made me vomit. That’s the longest I’ve gone, though I’ve read other comments here and have seen online posts of people that have that beat. Anyways, that lasted from March 5, 2016 until September 3, 2018. I wished it had been longer, but alas, something happened that made me vomit on that day, breaking the streak. Anyways, since then, I’ve only had one other sickness that really caused a lot of barfing. I want to say it was food poisoning, but there’s one thing that makes me question that. I didn’t have diarrhea, and from what I can tell, food poisoning gives you diarrhea. Anyways, I got to a point where my body was trying to continue to make me vomit, but I had literally barfed my stomach empty, except for a little bit of acid and mucus. It took until about 2 PM that day before I finally stopped vomiting. Since then, I’ve had a few other cases, but none were as bad as the one in 2019. My body just seems to give me diarrhea if I consume something it doesn’t like. Neither are fun, but I’d take diarrhea over vomiting. One more thing before I end this comment. If you’re thinking of taking an antiemetic drug, only do it if what you’re having is what I call nucance vomiting, where your body makes you throw up, but it makes no difference to the toxins in your blood. If you have a prescription antiemetic, that’s fine to take, because you were given it for this exact reason. But if you have, for example, food poisoning, stopping your body from vomiting will only exacerbate the problem. Ok, that’s all folks.
