Just a decade or two ago someone would find a Zen Book, do some research, and gravitate toward a centre or temple. The people in the temple knew that if someone was knocking on the door their mind was already open to the teaching. Today, platforms like KZbin reach far beyond that and it’s natural that there will be people who have to hit the keyboard in response. In my entire life there’s really only a couple people I can talk about this subject with, who I know from Zen. And, to be honest, they don’t know what non-dual is🤦🏼‍♂️ But that’s the real benefit of KZbin: there are a lot of people who would never get instruction like yours without it.

I very much agree with your observation that the question, "What do you get out of it", is more of an insight into the questioners beliefs and world view. I teach technology to seniors, and I find the questions they ask tell me more about their current misunderstandings, rather than simply being an open question. It's the same dynamic.

I understand the thing about people who are sure everybody is selfish, never altruistic, everybody is a bastard 😂 I am married to a nice man like that 😂 he is very kind actually, but going through this process and seeing things more and more clearly, I witness how separate he feels in this world and to what extent he needs to blame, condemn and complain about "everyone in society" to feel more safe, better, etc... we know the gist. Fortunately, with self-realization (in progress) comes clear seeing, seeing through conditionings and beliefs, seeing through reactivity and insensitivity, until you see right through people into what they really are. That's magical. 😊

This is one particular aspect of humanity that I find represents a clear form of insanity within the species. If you ask someone if they can read your and other’s minds, they would think you have gone nuts for asking such a question since everyone knows you cannot read people’s minds.. But, people assume they know other’s intents and motivations ALL.THE.TIME. That is insanity. You CANNOT know someone’s intention unless that someone directly tells you truthfully (and it may be unconscious within themselves even). To think that you can know someone’s intent is to state that you can read minds…when you already know you CANNOT. Clear insanity. Bizarre creatures, humans.

💯 When people tell you they can read your mind or understand your motives and feelings based on what they've read about you on the internet, they're delusional. The best they can make is an educated guess about your motive based on their past experiences. Of course, that differs from disliking what you say or do online, but most people do not realize even that is a personal interpretation.
