I love all of the lower tone stories, the history of railways, and watching thomas eps, that i haven't watch as a kid, discovering some places that interested me as a kid, for example sodor ironworks.

The sheer amount of effort, work, complexity and compassion being put into these stories is immaculate to say the least. I'm at the age of 16 atm and my love and admiration for this series is still growing strong.

It's cool that you're that young but still appreciate it! Especially since you were born later on and grew up during the CGI era.

@@giantfightingroboto Mostly the Brenner Era. I eventually gave up on the series because of Mattel with BWBA in 2018, but 2 years later I got myself back to watching the series again but mostly the classics I was yet to see. I did watch some of the classics at the same time when I was younger, especially the Henry-centric ones in S1.

When I began rewatching these a couple years ago I was shocked at how short the stories were! The my use to feel so long but each of them were in reality 5 minutes 😂

As an 18 year old, Thomas still really appeals to me because of how simple it is (or was). It's just steam engines with faces doing their work in a world taken as realistic as possible with a narrator telling you what is happening. I find it a great way to escape all the stress and chaos the real world gives, you forget about everything. No worrying about your school grades or your shift of work tomorrow or your financial situation. Plus collecting the merchandise is super fun, seeing your collection get bigger and bigger.

I completely agree. I'm 20 years old and am thinking about writing a story with an OC just for fun.

Seasons 6 and 7 and even the Brenner era also share a lot of what makes the first 5 seasons so great, but if you’re not interested in those, then that’s fine. I won’t judge you for your personal opinion. I guess you’re just comfortable sticking with the first 5 since that’s what you grew up with. But anyways this was an excellent discussion on what makes Thomas so good and why the fandom is as big as it is. I couldn’t have put any of it better myself.

Im 33. I grew up on the classic series of Thomas (especially S1-3). I loved and then I moved on. Then a few years ago i kinda rediscovered the show and rewatched it on KZbin. Me and my brother late night would rewatch them. Then i learned all about the history of the books and show and I have become to enjoy it more I think then I did as a kid. Then I also discovered Tugs and the fantastic Thomas community here on KZbin. So great to hear your story.

As an autistic person myself, Thomas has always been an escape mechanism and a way to comfort myself for the world I’m living in. I did start getting into real trains at around 10 years old, but I still held on to Thomas because how much personality his world brings to the railway industry.

Same here. I used to have a fear of trains (their loud horns, as I do have sound sensitivity) and Thomas helped me get over that fear and turned it into a love for them (though I still wear my ear defenders or headphones close to diesel powered railways)

I’m 23 and grew up during the HiT era. I’ve always enjoyed TTTE. I still of course enjoy the classic and some cgi episodes. I’ve always found it calming. Like I said in a reply somewhere I used to have a fear of trains but now I love them. I’m also autistic. My favorite engine is Henry.

Thomas Was a huge part of my Childhood i was born in 1997 and i remember Playing with my Ertls and creating my own stories and watching the classic series. Im autistic so i didn't really socialise much and the stories and the characters really resonated with me. Thomas was my world but i stopped watching around 2007 but Eventually as an adult ive found myself returning to the series on KZbin and still enjoy rewatching the classic series from time to time to escape back to a simpler time as an adult i still love the show as in the classic series I've never watched anything past series 7 and probably never will

Even as an adult myself I still enjoyed watching cartoons/animes series from both the past and presents like Thomas and Friends for example as it's one of my oldest childhood memories and since then I love both the models and the CGI. It's a shame that the CGI Thomas and Friends series has coming to the end because I would to see continuing visiting other countries a bit more as he hasn't have a chance to visit American, Germany, France, Mexico, Berlin, and Japan as well as meeting the other engines featuring in "Thomas and Friends The Great Race" like Vinnie, Frieda, Axel, Ivan, Etienne and Carlos. But sadly it's not going to happen now no thanks to Mattel.

I happen to be autistic too so I can relate to some of the stuff mentioned in the video when it comes to Thomas. And though I was born in 2002, nearly 2 years after TATMR came out, I still feel like the show was still good after that movie changed everything. But only the finale 2 classic seasons, the Pack mini series, 2 out of the 4 Sharron Miller movies, the Brenner era, the Michael White episodes, a handful of eps from the hit model era, the Sharron Miller era, and some episodes from bwba I think were good and enjoyable. And while I'm nearly 22 years old, I still enjoy Thomas over the great episodes, character arcs, movies, and the music. It's a shame the show isn't the same thx to Mattel, just watching the content I like really helps me whenever I feel sad, stressed, or need something to watch when I'm bored. While I wouldn't say I love Thomas, I am glad he's still a part of my life as he's one of the reasons I love trains and is something I wouldn't want to dislike ever.

I'm a young adult who just graduated high school in 2022, but Thomas is a great show. The majority of the episodes I've seen were from the HIT era, but I have several episodes from season 6 and earlier on DVD. I watched other shows on TV as I grew up, but that was mostly due to not getting PBS Kids on the TV at home. Another part of it was the day of the week it was as my interests expanded in the realm of TV shows. Seasons 7-11 are not as good as the previous seasons, but the CGI series was worse during some periods. There are times where the CGI series is as good as the HIT era or some parts of seasons 1-6, but not as many as you'd think. As for All Engines Go, that looks like it was made BY a child. I'm never going to buy those episodes to watch at home because that's where the series fell off a cliff in terms of quality.

And from what you said is similar. But aside that if fans of these shows we like as kids and we grew up still watch it and a chance keep your fandom alive in your families. My little uncle he likes thomas i like time classic and despite being older then him you can keep fandom alive as you do too 😉 👍

I was bullied but not for my interest in Thomas but my social awkwardness and ugly physical appearance. I wasn’t diagnosed with autism until I was 19 (though some of my family could see the traits when I was younger. My parents just put it up to me being a kid even though I did have a bit of a speech delay) I find myself to be a lot like Henry and Theo. Like a more awkward version of Henry. Idk
