Why Do Influencers Say "Sponsored" vs. "Affiliate"?

Just want to throw out there I appreciate this highlights channel. I am interested in what you both have to say, but working from home right now (you know, pandemic and all), I no longer have my work commute time to listen to a whole podcast. Tip: make your affiliate links easy to find. More than likely I won’t buy a product when you metntion it. But when I do buy it, say 6 months later, I will scout your link for it but I won’t dig through videos to find it.

But almost all sponsored videos come with a code we can use to get a discount like « HOLO20 » for example to save 20% off. Would this be an affiliate code? So it’s a mix of sponsorship and affiliation? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sponsored video without some kind of code or discount or like a great package if you download the game through a specific link...
