I'm telling you all, Hiley is a smart person. She did her homework on Korean stuff. She knows a lot.

Thanks for saying that!!! I really appreciate the kind words :) I'll ascribe some of that to just living here for a while, but also reading a lot of newspapers (foreign and Korean) and browsing social media too much hahaha

If you said it, it definitely belongs in the dictionary. I'll start a petition!

Pronunciate: a combination of the words pronounce and enunciate. Made up by Hiley of PagodaOne. It means to sound out a word correctly and clearly. Duh! Lol 😄

I think my parents were a little ahead of their time naming me, Shelby. It was rare for me to ever meet another Shelby, let alone one who was a girl. It was more of a Southern gentleman's name. Then, when I was around 20 years old, suddenly I kept meeting all these younger, petite, blonde girls named Shelby. Whereas I'm a tall brunette. I love my name though. It's always made me feel a little unique but not too unique, if you know what I mean. 😄 the only other thing is, I've met alot of people who tell me their cat, or dog is named Shelby. I'm fine with that. I think it's cute.

In language classes in school, my teachers always wanted to give me Spanish or German names, and I hated it. I find it weird that students will ASK for an English name!

Yes, I remember being assigned a Spanish version of my own name in Spanish language class, by which we were then addressed for the rest of the year. I can kind of understand wanting to immerse the students in the culture, but no one should expect anyone to introduce themselves that way outside of class.

This is true. My French teacher gave us "French" names that we used in class. None of us ever used them outside of the classroom, simply because that wasn't our names.

100%! I know there are Baptismal names, especially where I'm from and Southern US. Great to point out though. Some of my students are Catholic and like to use that as their name, which is great because it holds a very special meaning for them. Thanks for leaving a comment!
