@@hmdz150 I agree. I’ve consistently lost weight on low carb, but my energy levels are so depleted and I feel so exhausted every hour of the day. Your explanation of how hormones work in our body was well done. Too many people focus too much on just calories. Yes, the weight loss is welcome, but I am pleasantly surprised that my arthritis has all but gone away. The more carbs that you consume, the more insulin your body has to create to break it down, which usually results in your body having to hold onto more fat. The less carbs you eat in a day, the less insulin your body has to produce which results in the LESS amount of fat your body needs to hold onto. I learned this in Diabetic Ed when I was first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Things like sugary foods/drinks or high-carb foods creates a spike in your insulin which also makes you feel like you’re still hungry which can result in Binge Eating; which is an eating disorder.

This really is a « Way of life » and not a short term weight loss diet. I have been doing this for 4 weeks now, and have lost 4 kilos! It was so easy compared to the calorie restricted diets I had always followed before. And the 16/8 fasting works brilliantly for me. I’m truly amazed, and only wish I had known all these concepts sooner!

From personal experience I have learned that cutting the carbs and upping the protein works everytime. It has never failed me. I eat like shit when lifting weights to bulk up, pizza and ice cream mostly, then I cut the carbs out and watch the fat just disappear. Works everytime for me, very satisfying. Sure cutting the carbs can leave you feeling a little tired and drowsy sometimes, but the reward is worth the effort. I love having a 6pack. My advice is to have a 'Never give up' attitude, and to really believe in yourself.

@@russrichard7114 "not an easy diet to follow" ? It depends, I was never addicted to sugar so it was easy for me, moreover I find everything I'm now eating delicious. For example I often add some butter (I don't feel "guilty" anymore since I started low carb) to brocoli, cauliflower etc., this makes them so much more tasty. Next thing is that our taste adapts quickly as the turnover of taste sensor cells is relatively high, something like 6 weeks I think. Before starting low carb an 85% chocolate didn't seem sweet enough for me but now since it is the only form of sugar I eat I can hardly imagine anything sweeter.

Long story short it's 100g carb maximum daily with greens/ proteins filling up the rest of my food space. I've also been training with a personal trainer since last month. Anyways your content is very in line with what my nutritionist says. I've had conversations with other trainers before where they just stressed calorie deficit with anything I want within that deficit. Obviously I didn't follow that but it disappoints me to know many trainers exist that are tunnel vision with calorie deficit when it comes to people's meal plans. You have a real shot at improving this person's overall health (iin addition to just body fat %).

@kimheadland3 жыл бұрын
@@anuronguha0898 Anuron...it is often stated that for a low carb dietary way of eating 20grams of carbs is alright. However, that is barely two slices of bread. The easiest way of thinking is to NOT eat any carbs at all. So, no potatoes, no starchy vegs (those that grown underground) no rice, no pastas, no flour and no grain...remember that sweetcorn is a grain and NOT a vegetable. Eat plenty of fats and meats and eggs and if you wish some vegetables, those that grow above the ground are best. Good luck. I lost over 50lbs since September 2020, my blood pressures are healthy and normal, my acid reflux and fibromyalgia are cured and my rising blood glucose levels are back to normal. I had hunger within about 2.5 to 3 hrs after eating. I used to eat breakfast as soon as I got up which was about 8am when I’d have whole meal toast, then I’d have tea and biscuits at about 10.30/11am because I felt starving, then lunch at 12.30 I’d have a tuna salad or egg mayo or similar sandwich, crisps and sometime more biscuits and another cuppa with my 2 helped sugars. Then an early tea at about 4.30, a meal that maybe included potatoes, meat n veg, or pasta like spag bol n garlic bread, then I’d have cereal or toast again at about 10pm cos I’d be starving again. I suffered with gut grumbling pain for 20 years until I went low carb about 3.5 yrs ago, I pretty much only eat 2 meals a day now but better quality nutrient dense fatty foods. I don’t feel the achy grumbling hunger pangs like I used to. I’ve never been obese despite the frequent eating, the heaviest I’ve been was 9st 13lbs (I’m 5ft 5in and was aged 49 at the time) which was just before I went low carb. I’m about 9st 3lbs now and maintain this. I feel so much better since going low carb high fat. And if I do have a heavy carb session like at Christmas I know how to reverse the damage. I started out with Eat right for your blood type approx 2015, then found Dr Eric Berg and Dr Ken Berry in late 2018, and found you about 6 months ago. So glad to see UK doctors leaning about the benefits of Keto/low carb and promoting it. Dr David Unwin is another UK doctor onboard with the benefits of low carb. Keep up the good work Doc.

I agree that high carb is a spiral problem because the more carbs you eat the more you desire to eat. Very true. It also causes cravings that do not happen in the lo-carb environment. Great video and discussion of this subject. BUT lo-carb is one issue, but what restrictions should one place on the other macro-nutrients (fat & protein). I believe I have read that lo-carb PLUS calorie management is the best combo. But there is very little discussion once one embraces lo-carb (or KETO) on what the remainder of the diet should look like; some say eat all you want of fatty foods and others are less "over the top" on that issue. Where is truth? I KNOW that carbs cause insulin rushes that cause me to crash...but how much of the other two categories should I consume?

To put a lid on hunger, eat protein. I'm a night snacker, historically. But I found that instead of eating popcorn, chips, fruit, etc. if I chopped off a piece of cooked hamburger or got a piece of chicken and a little mayo, maybe some olives to go with it, or nuts, my appetite was gone. Just protein by itself if you are in a hurry, will keep you satisfied. Something in protein does it, and fast.

Evitaba las grasas como la peste y buscaba comida "light" (baja en grasas y altísima en azúcar) y, a pesar de hacer ejercicio todos los días, BJJ, siempre estaba gordo y con hambre. Question: How are we not reducing our metabolic rate when fasting? Doing low carb/getting into ketosis makes me have tons of energy but I am rarely really hungry...
@elhombresfbay5 жыл бұрын
The human body naturally regulates protein and fat, but not refined carbohydrates. Wether they are good or bad carbs. In addition the human body takes about twelve hours to process sugar. So if you are eating a high carb diet especially refined carbs, it has a stacking effect...you will see weight gain. Because your body still has insulin in your blood and then we are adding more. That’s one reason intermittent fasting is so effective is It get insulin levels down before you start The stacking effect of sugar as a primary fuel source.

It's going super well and my apetite has significantly dropped as your video says, it's amazing and really surprised me how full I was without carbs! However... last week on Friday I had a baguette for lunch as I was out and was lazy and then in the evening, I wanted to have some pizza on friday night as this is my 'treat night' and so I did. the next morning, i woke up SO hungry.. tummy rumbling like crazy which hasn't happened on any other days. my tummy also rumbled 2 hours after eating the baguette whereas non-carb meals have been filling me up for 4+ hours. I felt hungry all the rest of the weekend but avoided carbs and pushed through it and now i'm back in the flow but I really want to continue with my 'friday night treat night' because it's important to have this when 'dieting' but I want to be able to control the hunger. do you have any tips on how to get around this? my body clearly snapped right back to wanting loads more carbs the moment i ate a lot! thanks so much, Miri

I have really strong, gnawing hunger right before bed and I often eat some groats, barley or oats sometimes with peanut butter. I lose control at night. Why?

It seems to me Low carbohydrates diets are more suited to those less agile, I do both High intensity strength training 💪 and also Cycling most days to and from work, shopping etc and Cycling to visit friends, a higher Carbohydrates diet greatly benefits me , having very few carbohydrates diet doesn't work well with my active life, also I'm slim and never been overweight.... variables too ...genetics, age, activity level, medical background, stress levels, financial, domestic , etc etc 😊

I will try intermittent fasting. Your definition of intermittent fasting has made it easier for me to understand what its all about because I have been struggling to lose belly fat though I am thin. Know that a thin person with belly fat looks weird.

Love your channel. Could you please talk about the potential dangers of saturated fat and high cholesterol levels? Is it a myth?What's the implications of eating animal fat vs plant fats? Many LCHF spokespeople say plant oils are dangerous and should be avoided as fat source. I tend to agree but I'm no expert. It just seems logical to me that the oils are processed and butter, fats from meat etc are more natural and less artifical in a way.

I hope to get an answer from you Dr I am 23 yo my weight was over 125kg till 3 years ago I decided to exercise and eat less, ended up losing more than 30kg in just 2 months, jump rope and push-ups is all I did Notice that I said eating less and not dieting, I basically ate everything that I used to eat but in small quantities. And the main dish that I used to skip was dinner, went to sleep with an empty stomach and that worked for me remarkably But now I'm finding it hard to lose more weight as if it's stagnating like my body is tricking me or something, I'm still eating less and exercising way more harder than before but still have fat around my belly basically all my upper body Why isn't it working anymore? And will a low carb diet help me lose more weight ? I hope to get an answer from you doctor!

I stick to a low carb diet for 6 days out of 7, but every weekend, when we visit friends, we have a bad night on junk carbs(pizza. chinese, indian, nibbles etc). Any harm in this or does it destroy all the 'good efforts' put in over the rest of the week? My weight is coming down(albeit slowly - 1lb/week)

Sounds safe. A few carbs over the weekend isn't going to ruin your body. Actually sound like you keep your metabolism at a shock because our bodies adapt to things so quickly. I've been doing low carb a week and lost 4lbs. I messed up a little this weekend due to my menstrual cycle and craving really bad. But hopped right back on it yesterday. Although i will add that I've had blood sugar issues so i did have a headache come back yesterday because i lapsed on my carbs. But doing low carb curbed my low blood sugar incidents tremendously.

Hi Dan, I'm new to your channel, and see that you haven't posted for a while, so I'm not sure if you still read the comments on old videos, or still reply. However, I'll ask on the off chance - I was wondering what your view on carb cycling is, and whether you've ever posted a video on it? Thanks.

For me, the desire to cut down the carbs came completely naturally once I realized that a sandwich as a snack makes me even more hungry before lunch than if I wouldn't eat anything. Since then, I started to notice my body's reactions to food high in carbs, and I am trying to avoid it, cause that hyperglycemia I used to get was really horrible.. The only thing that doesn't have such a strong hyperglycemic effect on me, tho, is pasta, and I love pasta super much, so I am giving it a pass for now :)

I respectfully disagree. CICO is a superior weight management strategy. I’ve lost 176 pounds over the last 20 months with calorie counting and I ate about 40% of total calories from carbohydrates. I started at 402 pounds and was 226 this morning. I never have dips in energy, I never feel hungry and I do the opposite of intermittent fasting. I eat first thing in the morning and I eat all day. Think about it.. if 40% of my calories are carbs than the other 60% is protein and fats (35% and 25%) That’s balance. What’s better? Restriction of entire groups of foods or eating just about anything and still losing weight? If you’re losing weight it’s because you are in a calorie deficit. It’s been proven when calories are equated for weight loss is almost identical. So if Keto or intermittent fasting helps you achieve that calorie deficit than great keep doing it but don’t think that carbs are some how inherently going to keep you from losing weight. I can gain or lose weight on a keto diet. If you eat too much than you eat too much.

If you don't mind me asking.. have you reached a normal bmi range yet? My experience was that I slowly lost 100lbs with CICO . . But once I reached my normal bmi.. I became ravenous and it has became a chore to maintain. Even upping my protein as recommended. So now I'm looking into this. Especially since i do seem to be addicted to sugar/carbs. & I eat a mostly whole food diet.

I have been using HyperKeto for around 4 months now. I'm happy with the product, but I'm not sure if it's for me. For one, I don't know how much of a difference this is making in my weight loss and I am still struggling with my diet, so it might just be a waste of money.

I wish I could say I’ve been losing the weight I want to lose. I know I’m ketosis (urine sticks) but I’m still not losing weight. I’m 71 yrs old and relatively healthy. Walk 3+ miles a day. I can only assume I’m eating too many calories. What to do?

Before I used to get hungry at around 11:00am if I take breakfast also with 3 meals a day pattern and snacks in evening. I m doing intermittent fasting for few days. I still eat lunch with rice and in evening I only take fat and proteinat around 7pm.I don't feel hungry till 12-1:00pm next day and that also without help of bullet proof coffee. And I lost around 2kg in one month. I don't want do vigorously so taking time to do full low carbohydrates as rice is our staple diet.

I was hungry all the time on a high carb low fat vegan diet and if I ate a large meal I would go into a food coma and I needed to eat every two hours. Also my morning sugar was too high. I was not feeling great. My daily calorie intake as a woman was around 2300 kcal. On a low carb diet but sugar is back to normal and I rarely experience food coma.

I would like to know if there is a benefit in reducing carbs substantially (from a carb habit that included daily bread, biscuits and or cake) to say, just having carbs at one meal and cutting out all the sugary extra carbs and bread. Is that likely to be of benefit, especially if I have upped my protein and veg. I find it so hard to go full keto although I would like to commit to it at some point.
@julesnfriends2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue, forgive me, couldn't help reply because I've found over the last 18 months that if I want to lose weight fairly easily, I avoid all carbs (only eating meat, green veg and cauliflower, eggs, nuts, seeds, mushrooms, fish, shellfish, 70% dark chocolate). I get a bit of carbs from the veg, and from beans which I try to avoid. Then when you achieve the weight you want to be, you can have mushrooms on a slice of wholemeal toast, or a small amount of pasta when you feel you really need to, about one small teacupful after cooking? You can't keep losing weight, so at that point I've found you can ease up a bit and maintain your happy weight. Hope that helps and good luck, it's well worth sticking to for the other health benefits it brings.

This is my first week on Keto, I'm kind of worried about high cholesterol though!!
@gratefulketo22114 жыл бұрын
Try watching a cholesterol video by Dr Ken Berry. He explains why you should not worry. I, for one, am not concerned. Also, Dave Feldman is an interesting person to listen to. He’s a lot more technical. He is a “ hyper responder “ who manipulates his cholesterol numbers by what he eats. Enjoy your Keto journey!

HyperKeto is a lifesaver. I had been looking for a keto program to follow for a while that was affordable and comprehensive. I tried different programs, but HyperKeto was the only one that got the balance just right. I was able to lose 15 pounds in just 2 months and feel energized throughout the day. It's been great!
