It is quite common for Malaysians to tell you that RM10k a month salary won’t get you far in KL. What? Really? Is this true?
In this video, let us explore KL and find out if this is the case where people living and working in KL do command a higher salary than the rest of the states in Malaysia and what are the reasons for this. Is it because KL is the capital city of Malaysia and all capital cities pay a higher salary? Or is it because the cost of living in KL is significantly higher?
If you are new to this channel, we are Fran and John, the Corporate Breakout Couple. Fran is Malaysian and John is Singaporean. We broke out of the corporate rat race in Singapore and got ourselves financially independent in 2020. We love making KZbin videos on topics like financial independence, breaking out of the rat race, early retirement and lots more!
We hope you enjoy watching this video, and do let us know in the comment section if you like it!
With lots of love - Fran and John

What are your thoughts on the salary in KL? Let us know!

The pay is reasonable, it's only low to those who don't keep their lifestyle within their means.

@@shashah5438Pay isn't reasonable. How can u say so when a restaurant worker makes on average RM 1500-1800? You can't survive with that kind of salary unless you live with your parents. Pay has stagnated while the cost of living has doubled or tripled over the past 20 years. The younger generations are much poorer than the older ones.

There are pros and cons about living in KL. More job opportunities in the big city, but the traffic and crowds are a little too much for me. Appreciate the vlog.

SINGAPORE: The minimum monthly qualifying salary for new Employment Pass (EP) applicants will increase to S$5,600 (US$4,200) from next year, up from S$5,000 currently. Those working in the financial services sector, which has "higher wage norms", will have to earn a minimum of S$6,200 a month, up from the current threshold of S$5,500.

Median salary is low, while the restaurant prices in your videos are comparable to Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, USA, etc.

Why they returned.. do they regret it.. how did it change their perspectives.. what adjustments they had to make.. did it make them more marketable when they returned.. is it easier finding a suitable job in Malaysia vs SG

@@khoo5199 great questions At the moment, we do not know of anyone personally who had worked in Sg and now working in Malaysia. The people that we do know are Malaysians who used to work in Singapore but now are working elsewhere in the world. We will create the video if we do meet with someone who meets the criteria as per your request.

You should change your name to Corporate Bohong Couple. You seem more interested in what Singapore has to offer and keep comparing things to Singapore. Your video has no additional information value other than what we already know.

@@corporatebreakoutcouple Sure, I will not watch your videos, but how would I know not to watch your videos, if I had not wasted some time watching some of it in the first place. As a KZbin watcher, I am entitled to comment and also alert others of low value contents. As for the world revolving, you too are not the only people trying to monetized by making people watch your videos. Since if my time is going to be monetized, then I have to make comments or use the like/dislike buttons or flag as do not recommend to keep up the standard and that is how KZbin works.
